The Vengeance is absolutely the most endurable Federation starship ever constructed. It had 72 torpedoes inside its secondary hull, exploding, the ship entered the atmosphere at a rather high speed, it first crashes into the prison island, the Alcatraz, then it slams the saucer into the ocean, and starts crash into the city itself, tearing down skyscraper after skyscraper, the saucer gets separated from the secondary hull, (looks like it) and the warp core(s) does not even explode. That's damn good engineering compare to what we have been seeing from the TNG era. According to my calculations, the Kelvin timeline Enterprise-D would have been bigger than the Vengeance.
Likely so and this was a war ship so it’s likely the it was very well armored around said core and a explosion was possibly canceled out since we don’t know how much the ship was damaged after said explosions
Khan designed and built the ship himself, I wouldn't like to guess what happened to anyone who didn't follow his exact specifications. No wonder it didn't blow up on impact despite being severely damaged even before the crash. Also, that ship is the one and only Dreadnaught class vessel ever created, the only true warship the Federation ever built, likely intended for combat with the Narada from the reboot if necessary. It took a Black Hole INSIDE the ship and heavy bombardment point-blank from a battleship combined to destroy the Narada. If Vengeance was built to win that kind of fight? Well...
This might be one of the saddest parts of the movie for me, even more so than Kirk’s death. I mean that was thousands upon thousands that must have just died due to one person’s moment of rage. And the one person was the guy who survived it. On top of that, who knows how many livelihoods, and businesses were just eradicated on top of Alcatraz. Yes. But on some level, if you have absolutely zero early warning systems and air defences around your naval HQ that can detect the massive unmarked warship currently blowing up your fleet's flagship... then maybe you deserve for that warship to crash into you.
A terrifying ship, but this scene was intense. Imagine if they build another one, but this time actually has federation markings on it like name and registry.
I doubt they will, there are 3 types of starships that Starfleet has made throughout all the Trek films. *Explorational Ships (Prime Timeline)* - These are the ships used in the prime timeline, they were meant for Exploration and had minimal weaponry. *Explorational Ships (Kelvin Timeline)* -Due to the Nerada coming back in time, Starfleet had access to technology not available for the next 100 years. With this technology they beefed up their starships to have more advanced weaponry and made them twice the size, probably to prevent an incident like the Kelvin Starship, sadly it wasn't enough to save Vulcan. *Militarized Starships (Dreadnought Prototype)* - Vulcan being destroyed was the Federation's 9/11, after figuring out that Klingons had the Nerada for some time, they were worried they had advanced their weaponry with the Nerada technology (They actually got nothing from it). They began to develop Military Warships to have a more threatening presence throughout the galaxy (Like America with it's armed Military bases around the world). This plan was thwarted by the Enterprise, and after the incident of San Francisco (ironic the ship meant to prevent terrorism was used for terrorism) Starfleet scrapped the entire project and removed any elements from Section 31. And by Star Trek Beyond they had gone back to a similar type of exploration like in the Prime Timeline.

Which makes an interesting discussion of who was really to blame here. If Khan had been informed his crew were not killed then would he still have crashed the ship that killed many others?
It always surprises me that, with all the technology they have.. everytime anything dangerous is capable of making it to earth relatively easily. You'd think earth would have some kind of defense grid, some defense stations and/or ships always in orbit.. anything. @@starliner2498 Its seems to be in weird places. Star trek is ahead with things like replicators/transporters, meanwhile Star wars has hyperdrives. Halo is outclassed pre covenenant war. Post coveneant war its once again wierd. We dont know how strong the shields are. We know they can slam through ships/crash into planets and the ships are still fully intact. As long as we dont have consitsncy, we can barely compare universes. I mean most universes have a hard time giving consitent numbers. Turbolasers being strong enough to wipe out all life on a planet in one shot, meanwhile in some shows they are just tiny explosions. Phasers being all over the place aswell between whats said and what power is seen. Basically, you can always pull out some wild numbers and try to outgun the other universe.
Well it looks like the secret of the Dreadnought class is out. Starfleet should start making it the ship of the line - they still have the shipyard near Io.
The crew of the Vengeance and likely thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of people died horribly when Khan crashed Vengeance into Starfleet HQ. All because Khan believed his people were killed when he beamed them aboard Vengeance and he completely lost it. However, there are very few terrifying scenes in Star Trek-and this is one. A burning battleship is literally falling out of the sky straight on top of you, likely moving several times the speed of sound. Aboard is a power core which could blow a hole in the planet and enough weaponry to level the city if it blows up. You can't run, you'll just die tired. You can't take cover, the ship will tear through anything in it's way, including buildings, for at least half a mile before gravity and drag force it to a stop. All you can do is die...
Hader is listed on IMDb as “Additional Voices” for this film, so I’m thinking it’s him. Makes sense, he also worked with JJ on The Force Awakens in creating BB-8’s “voice.”
Can we just appreciate the background actors playing the civilians? Say you are a civilian or starfleet member going about your day, and you hear a sonic boom so you instinctively look up and see a starship falling to the ground... these ships aren't supposed to be in atmosphere let alone crashing. A MASSIVE starship is falling out the siy and your instincts say run, but you freeze because its incomprehensible what you see. Then it hits, and you run... you run not knowing you wouldn't escape it. Let me remind you, in star trek earth has had its fare share of attacks on earth but from what I've seen, a STARSHIP has never fallen out the sky and crahsed into the heart of thw federation. Absolutely brutal.
Can we just acknowledge how big USS Vengeance is? I mean the enterprise is already a massive ship and this black beast dwarfs it! Also it hit Alcatraz on its way down.
Twice now JJ has made Bill Hader’s childhood dreams come true. He’s a massive Star Wars and Star Trek fan and JJ gave him parts in both movies as the voice of BB8 in Star Wars and as the voice of The Vengeance in Star Trek. He’s said a number of times in interviews that “I can die a happy man thanks to JJ for making my childhood dreams come true! I could get hit by a truck when I leave here and I wouldn’t care. I got to be in my two favourite movie and show franchises even if it’s just my voice and you can’t really tell it’s me! My name being in the rolling credits at the end speak for themselves!” Love the guy so much especially in IT Chapter Two and Barry he’s got one of them laughs that when he starts you can’t help but laugh as well because he sounds like a crackly old witch when he loses it completely. And it’s genuine unlike a lot of people who fake laugh in interviews and you can tell! His laughter is real because he makes himself laugh so hard that not only does he make himself cry, but he laughs until it hurts his stomach and side’s which sets him off even more, just like when he try’s to control himself and try’s stopping himself from laughing it just makes him even worse and ends up not being able to talk because he’s having a laughing fit!

Wow I never realized how good these effects were
"This is Admiral Nogura. Activate Emergency Beam Out of civilians around Fisherman's Wharf and Telegraph Hill. Put a Level 1 forcefield around the city and lock tractor beams on that starship."
Good 😊.
Starfleet material.👌
I like how after World War 3 and 200+ years later Alcatraz "WAS" still standing 😂😂
Dang! Clip 9/10! ...So close.
Bill Hader really does have a Helluva voice
Honestly, not enough love is given to Ben Burtt. This wasn’t the sound guys behind Transformers, this was BEN BURTT they were working with.
And he didn’t disappoint. If they do another Star Trek film, they should hire him or Gary Rydstrom for the next film.
Star Trek Meet WALL-E
"Sir there's no way anyone survived"
Next scene: **jumps out without a scratch**
He’s a freakin’ Augment super soldier! What do you expect?
The scene where the vengeance catches up to the enterprise is the best in this entire movie🔥
0:18 - 0:29 that sound of Vengeance breaking sound barrier
Funny how the sound of that sonic boom traveled faster than the speed of sound. Then again, same thing happened when the Enterprise saucer crashed.
No Golden Gates were harmed during the making of this scene.
*Impossible*
0:28 This is probably the best example of the JJ Abrams/Zack Snyder handheld zoom. It feels like a comic book to me. This movie sucks so goddamn much but I will always maintain that it looks astonishing and it's clear that this scene was one that a lot of passion was put into.
When Dr. Strange creates his own multi verse to let his anger out on
The Federation and Starfleet probably had a lot of explaining to do that day.
Forget about the crash. Are we just all going to pretend like that wasn't Bill Hader as the voice telling Kahn to confirm his order... Lol
Any landing you can walk away from is a GOOD landing!
For you or for the person walking away not always for others.
That ship was like the size of half the city, and probably cost more than it too.
0:50 That sound you heard? That was the sound of every criminal, past and present, cheering as Alcatraz was literally wiped off the map.
How forcedly poetic: Khan crashes into Vengeance into Starfleet HQ in a terrorist attack.
Oh that was the Alcatraz that got squashed. Lol
0:58 Dang that cameraman has some guts to film right there in that spot.
What cameraman?
Deanna Troi, is that you? Just kidding Iove Commander Troi!!! 😂😂
The vengeance is one of my favorite starships besides the UNSC infinity and the executor
Mine includes all three plus the Resurgent Class Battlecruiser.
The Vengeance took 72 torpedoes detonating inside her and never even had a hull breach. The Vengeance would eat Resurgence and Infinity for breakfast, and have enough room left for the Executor.
@@KH4444444444N I mean realistically tech in Star Trek is way ahead of Halo or Star Wars
0:50 RIP Alcatraz: 1850-2259.
I just spent the last hour searching for Bill Hader's voice as the USS Vengeance computer. Oh the sweet feeling of satisfaction! 😌
I love that it took out Alcatraz
I always loved the “that was close moment”
0:50 2260s and Alcatraz is still there?
@steve gale Probably. Yes.
But not for very long 😉
0:11 is that Bill Hader's voice?? I hear Mickey from Bob's Burgers.
Actually it's Andy Dick.
no, I think it's Hader.
Hader is listed on IMDb as “Additional Voices” for this film, so I’m thinking it’s him. Makes sense, he also worked with JJ on The Force Awakens in creating BB-8’s “voice.”
Yay, Bill was in Star Trek, even if it's just 3 lines... Awesome!
This is why there should be planetary or city wide shields
Can we just acknowledge how big USS Vengeance is? I mean the enterprise is already a massive ship and this black beast dwarfs it! Also it hit Alcatraz on its way down.
1.6 KM long. That is the same size as an Imperial Star Destroyer, but bigger overall.
@@KH4444444444N So 1v1 fight, who wins? Vengeance or ISD?
Benedict Cumberbatch played a complete nutter
What a performance!
Khan be like: "Another happy landing" :)
The vocal part from Pink Floyd's "Great Gig in the Sky" lines up with this scene so well...
Woa oh woah oah AAAAAAAAAAHHH
it really puts into perspective just how big that ship was when next to those buildings
I like how they spare Khan to save Kirk and never mention any of the other people who died.
1:10 Looks like they'll finally be able to build some new housing in San Francisco!
Every landing where the pilot survives is a good landing! Never forget that. Great job. The crew would be proud but looks like they died bevor the landing. But doesnt matter because im proud. Never forget it Kahn. Your lovely Kim.
What??? Kim?
I like how it takes out the top of alcatraz
I honestly felt bad for the people that were in the skyscrapers. They would have no means of escape and nowhere to go.
"You broke your little ship..."
Having escaped the North tower by only 20 minutes 9/11 this scene was very hard for me to watch.
Yeah but none of these buildings were dropped with thermite. That big black space ship did all the destruction this time.
@@procrastinatingpuma Yeah cause jet fuel can drop a building in on itself, You keep telling yourself that one. I know a controlled drop when I see one.
Ok.
this has got to be one of the biggest ship crashes in cinematic history
Independence day: resurgence: you got to be kidding me
@@NeilChristian-rj9vv you are right
I love sulu's line "God that was close"
It always pissed me off how they just hop back on the enterprise and go on their merry way as if one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in recent times didn't just happen.
In other news: A Starship took out half the city today.
“It’ll be 9/11 times 100.”
“You don’t mean…”
“Yes. 91,100.”
Imagine if Khan had set the warp core to breach after the crash.
Or set up the auto destruct sequence 😒🤔
Yeah but if you noticed the ship lost it's lower hull just before it stopped so the warp core breach wouldn't have been an option!
0:11 bill hader as the computer for the vengeance 😂
0:50 out with the old, in with the new
