I Don't Want to Miss a Thing

As a huge Aerosmith fan since the '90s, their number one hit "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is more than a song to me-it's a personal anthem. That passion drove me to craft a cover with a twist, part of the eclectic "ReconnectAndo" project. It's a sonic tapestry woven with contributions from fans and pros alike, some who've shared the stage with Aerosmith.
Originally composed by Diane Warren and featured in the 1998 "Armageddon" soundtrack, our cover's journey began in Canberra, Australia, during the October 2021 lockdowns, where we established the foundational structure. Several months later, the acoustic guitar breathed life into the track in Little Bay on June 4, 2022.
June 2022 was a whirlwind in Canberra, where I recorded ukulele, setar, bass and the piano outside Smith's Alternative in the frosty air. In September 2022, a few Aerosmith fans experienced four incredible Aerosmith shows in Las Vegas, with the final show on my birthday, September 26th. Our video captures us singing in the PIT, energized by Aerosmith's "Deuces Are Wild" residency.
In December 2022, Sarah 'Cellobat' Chaffee, the cellist from Aerosmith's Vegas residency, elevated our cover to an extraordinary height. Her cello performance was so captivating that it often moved me to tears, adding a spellbinding touch of magic and professionalism. Inspired, I recorded my vocals several times in Coogee during January 2023, striving to match her excellence, though admittedly, it was a daunting challenge! The final vocal refinement occurred in Randwick in November 2023. And we wrapped up right before Christmas 2023. This acoustic version features a selection of clips of Sarah playing the cello on-stage with the band during 2019, 2020, and 2022.
