    I have the same car, 1998 lancer 4g15 carb. currently overheating whenever I am running rpms past 3k. currently on single row radiator. are you already running 2row? planning on upgrading mine since overheating is a risk at higher rpms. (overheating only occurs when I keep revving it past 3k).
    I'm planning on going for a blow through turbo setup that's why I'm trying to fix cooling bugs since turbos tend to get hot.
    I want to make the most out of the engine first before swapping it.

      Radiator is OEM from
      Factory.. any mods done to your engine? It might be contributing to the over heating issues

      Going for turbo route, whjt are your plans? Turboing a 4g15 needs a lot of block work, need to change to a low comp piston if you want to boost it.
      Doing all the work may cost you in the long run? Have you considered other options?

      Try having a trusted radiator specialist check your Radiator, there must be a blockage somewhere. Or must be a defect on the coolant flow.

      @@meowtrox1234 trying to do my research and afaik people have run low boost on stock 4g internals. I'm only in it for the turbo noises. plus since it's a blow through turbo carb setup. it's cheaper compared to an efi conversion. if I blow the motor then it's a good indication to move to a higher displacement engine. maybe switch to a 4D56T setup or a 4N13T if I can source one.

      @@meowtrox1234 all stock. but that's what worries me. since it's still on stock OEM parts since 1998, I'm currently planning on just replacing/upgrading the cooling system entirely since all these years might probably slowly built up rust in the cooling system. maybe even on the block itself so replacing it with new parts is better than waiting for it to get worse. plus it's good to know that I wont be having any cooling system issues for the next few years after it's replaced.
      also important question. are you running on pure 100% coolant or a 50%mix of coolant and distilled water?

    How's the performance and fuel consumption after swapping the carb to toyota 4k?

    • @meowtrox1234
      @meowtrox1234  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello , gas economy went good for as long as you use the proper jetting . my primary was at 90mm and secondary was at 120mm, consumption was at about 10km/l in a higher altitude vs the venturi carb (Piston-type) 6-8km/l or sometimes even 5km/l it feels like driving a v6 when it comes to consumption but lacks the power tbh.
      , the downside of the 4k carb is the loss of power and frequent changes in carb tuning , this is might be due to the carburetor manifold being converted from the original ( venturi type had 1 hole , the 4k required 2 holes= for low speed and high speed if i am not mistaken)
      I decided to go back to the original venturi type after the reliability issues.
      In the near future i will hope to have an engine swap into 4g92 MIVEC DOHC from a RS CJ4a.
