  • The Sand Canyon Pueblo is located in the Canyons of the Ancients National Monument in southwest Colorado. The village consisting of about 420 rooms, 100 kivas and 14 towers was constructed around AD 1200-1290. The Canyons of the Ancients National Monument comprises over 6,000 excavated sites on over 164,000 acres of land managed by the BLM. The best location to begin exploring the monument is at the Anasazi Heritage Center near Dolores, Colorado. There you will find information about sites you may want to visit as well as maps, brochures and a top notch museum. www.gjhikes.co...

Leah and I are two humans who no longer support the inhuman, oligarchic empire model destroying our planet and our true nature as human beings. As activists we decided to do something about it, so we opted out of our former lives to begin anew. We are currently transforming pristine alpine wilderness into a self-sustaining homestead and organic farm in preparation for the upcoming collapse. We plan on developing and executing every single step of the process in open source format for the benefit of all humanity. With our backgrounds in academia and the sciences (climatology, geology, physics, biology, chemistry, and more) we hope to uncover the lies perpetrated by the mass media. It will be presented here and on our website in a systematic and thorough process. As you can imagine, this is a multifaceted, lifelong project, and we are so passionately excited to take the next steps towards self sufficiency and our dream! So cool to see. I worked on excavating a room at Sand Canyon Pubelo in 1985 as a kid through Crow Canyon Archaeological Center -- one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Thank you Diamond, friend and pup for exploring and filming. 420 rooms. The term if anyone wonders is from California, a high-school in Marin County where at 4:20 a few friends gathered to smoke near a sculpture daily.

There’s a story written around the mid-1800s that I had heard about in the southwest a very well designed city with incredible architecture very advanced. There were trees Growing in odd places, such as right outside the front door right in the way? All of the trees that were in odd places were around 800 years old when they counted the tree rings.
. About the time this place you’re talking about ended. So something very large happened around 800 years ago and chased people out of their places

Why would they take the time and effort to excavate just to re bury? They've installed plaques to describe the site in general, why not excavate and let people have a real experience of the rooms. Was there elaboration elsewhere at the site about anything they recovered or learned? Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

The site was not fully excavated and the filling in was done to “hopefully” deter further looting. Thankfully we have many other restored sites in our area to enjoy.

All of these ancient sites contain wood from the cedar trees (used as flooring and lentils) - dendrochronology (tree ring data) is utilized for exact dating to the year!
