Heck yeah another true crime video!! The fact that you can cover such heartbreaking yet infuriating topics and still keep it fairly light with aspects of humour is astounding. I’ve never seen anyone who’s able to do this as well as you do.
I agree. I was thinking that too. Kris and Bailey Sarian are my faves. It's like you're just chatting with a friend and they're telling you these horrible stories but using that awesome sarcastic humor as well. 😄
As the adult child of an SDA, I appreciate how you worded your description and that it’s a breeding ground for cults. As I’ve been deconstructing over the past 5 years, I’ve come to believe that it’s a prime ground for victimization. I’ve been in a healthy marriage for several years now and in retrospect I can see how my childhood training made me believe that I deserved what happened to me, and that the man in my life was always correct. I appreciate how Kris always emphasizes that it’s never the victim’s fault and it’s a great reminder even decades later. It’s sad what people can justify under the name of religion. Great deep dive!
Same, now that I’ve been growing up I have realised more things about it, more so since I moved away from home. I still have mixed feelings about it, I even started learning about other religions and arguments against it, of course I am not against it because it also helped my family but many aspects are sus haha.

I really got into true crime and cult things a couple years back, I talked about it with my parents and they told me about Roch Thériault (Im French Canadian) and it just absolutely disgusted me. It creeped me out to think this happened so close to me. Usually it’s always stuff that’s in other countries but now, seeing that it was in the same area as me really creeped me out.
Absolutely, I wish school was more about nurturing curiosity and learning instead of bell class bell class bell class bell class bell class lunch bell class bell class bell go home do homework go to sleep repeat
Here's the thing school is TERRIBLE about encouraging learning we are naturally curious creatures we WANT to learn but the way schools teach crushes that desire to learn
Kris handled with the perfect balance of seriousness and engaging storytelling. It’s a tough topic, but your approach made it accessible and incredibly informative.
I met that lady, Gabrielle (who got her arm cut off), back in high school, it was…well i don’t have words for it. God! Good job by the way with all the researche and well, telling the story 🙏🏻
Oh -/the lady who let all the children get abused and let her own baby get abused and then set him outside to freeze to death, but managed to save herself and get herself to the hospital when she lost her arm? That Gabriel.
I’m really confused cause I’m seeing people telling her to stop being like Caleb because it’s distracting or it’s not her but she’s doing what she normally does? She normally has dual cameras, has jokes, a tone, nothing is different. And also, so what if her mannerisms become similar to his? They are together, there is nothing wrong with that. Eventually, you start acting like them a little bit. It’s like how you become your parents just a little different. So calm down because she’s still her and still pumping out great quality videos.
I think most of the people complaining are either single or don't live with a partner. Because you do indeed begin to pick up little things from the other.
I absolutely agree. It is totally normal to take on some mannerisms of those around you and the ones you love. However, long before I found out they were together, I thought that they were very similar people and would get along together well. Just because there are two people that are so well aligned as Kris and Caleb are, does not mean they are copying each other!
My favourite part of these videos is when you re-enact how conversations must have gone and go all in on the accents. I'm actually always impressed by your accents 😂❤
Kris, girl you make horrible stories like this tolerable even though that doesnt take the macabre sense of these cults and their wrong doings out of the question. Thanks for covering this!!!!
43:50 those poor babies! Is it just me or does it seem like i can’t ever go too long without hearing some friend, acquaintance, family, or internet stranger or someone on the internet talking about some kids getting SA’d and 89% the time the person either completely gets away with it or gets a slap on the wrist for their crimes?
Most rapists in the US don't actually carry any weapons because rape is a lesser charge than the weapon charge they'd get for having something like a gun.
I moved in with a friend who's Dad SA'd her on a regular basis and got me once, I reported it to VT state police, they grilled me for 8hrs refusing to feed or release me and then decided that because I didn't scream(in the woods at the end of a 20mi country rd with 0 neighbors )for his 7yr old son to save me that I was unworthy of assistance. Thanks VSP! The POS then moved to MA with his daughter/wife and son & never answered for anything. He was also a widower, TWICE, not sus at all.
@@sarahoshea9603what the fuck. dude is actually evil. I hope you’re okay that sounds horrific and fucking traumatic. I hope you and your friend are alright, even if it was in the past.
Totally true. I was a victim of CSA for years and no one ever believed me because “I would have told them sooner” (I was too young to talk), or “you didn’t scream” (freeze/fawn are also trauma responses to the threat of death or harm), etc. No one believed that my ex husband was either until I had to call my therapist from a locked bathroom with my toddler and baby with me and a chair under the door that it got worse and I didn’t know how to get out because I’d literally been beaten to the point of struggling to breathe. He notified authorities and my parents drove all the way to come get us and take us away and protect us. He came back once and beat my friend and told me he’d do it again if I ever pressed charges, so it took me years to.
im always rewatching the deep dive vids, often i use them to knock out, one of the only true crime outlets that i enjoy. i struggle with ppls voices but kris' is wonderful for story telling
I first heard about this cult on a true crime podcast and since then it didn't let me go. It is so undescribably cruel and horrible what this man did to his followers. Another detail that you didn't mention is that he moved his whole cult to a region in Canada, where English was (and I believe still is) spoken and he was the only one who could speak English so that his members where even more isolated. Thank you for covering it in such a respectful way.
Chris, being real, you’ve taught me more than school has. You’re the reason I got into horror books and have done my own research on these topics. And I still remember the day my mom showed me one of your tik toks, and that was the day I found the person I’m proud to say is my favorite TH-camr ever. Also, you’ve been nicer to me in every one of your videos with your compliments than anyone has before, thank you 🥰
"Lets unbuckle our seat belts go mock five down the highway slam on the breaks and deep dive through this windshield in to this cult" is giving major 'Meanwhile' vibes from the Late show with Stephen Colbert. I LOVE IT (side note thank you for gruesome crochet background noise Auntie Kris)
My father was a guard at Dorchester Penitentiary for 30 years and was there when Roch was brought to the prison. Dad rarely talked to us about work, but he did say that you could tell by looking at Roch Theriault’s eyes that he had no soul and was one of the creepiest people he had ever encountered in all his years as a guard. He worked with serial killers, pedos, and just about every other sick individual, so for him to say that gave me the ick in a big bad way.
It's unbelievable how quickly things escalated once he decided the rules no longer applied to him. A part of me doesn't want to believe that a person could actually do these things, and a bigger part of me is afraid because he actually did. Most humans are decent people, but man are there some absolute dumpster fires out there, and that's an insult to dumpster fires! I do my best not to wish ill of anyone, but I'm honestly glad he went the way he did. Thanks for covering this, and for reacting honestly and openly. You don't just tell the story; you say what we're all thinking instead of sanitizing it. Looking forward to the next monster you cover.
The people following him were evil too imo, allowing him to get away with everything and to even listen to him when he told them to stab someone and stop before they did, as if they are trained dogs. I don’t care that they were young adults, they were taught right from wrong as children and they should never have gone off with him and started doing such evil shit. Once more kids were brought into it, those people made the choice to stay and allow those poor children to be treated horribly and they allowed for that 2 year old to be murdered by him. Disgusting, all of them tbh
As a devout Catholic I will never not be disgusted whenever people manipulate and misconstrue the bible, using it to their advantage. I seriously pity everyone who fell victim to this awful human being.
Now I want the story of the guy that killed him! Even just a little snippet if you want to make a short about how he got in prison, how the guards reacted, and what his punishment was.
Honestly, you are the only “true crime” channel/ show I can watch because you make it so funny, while still telling these horrifying and tragic stories 🤣

Amazing series! Absolute favorite. But how did anyone with authority ever allow this to happen. What is wrong with the judicial system and phycologists back then. A lot of them should be jailed for allowing this to happen
Don't worry, USA just installed a sex trafficker who is known for giving drugs to underage prostitutes as its head attorney so you'll see how worse the judicial system can get!
I'd like to thank Kris for spending countless hours just researching. It's so horrifically heartbreaking discovering and learning about each group. There are so many, I'm not sure if Kris is planning on mentioning all of them or what, but I hope maybe she could do NXIVM, FLDS, Synanon, The Great White Brotherhood, Order of the Solar Temple... I can go on but I hope she continues these deep dives.

It’s so cute how you include some small “Easter eggs” to your boyfriend (the fans know lol) You even start talking like each other 🥺 Love you kris! Remember too take breaks!❤ (gotta watch the vid now lol)
Just found this channel. Commentary is a talented storyteller with the perfect balance of sarcasm, “smartass-ery”, humor, and direct bluntness while covering very terrible tragedies. I am already hooked!
Why do all of these cults seem to have weird incestuous family vibes, even when they're not related? They're all "married" to him, but they're also his "children", and they call him Pappy. And most of these cults feel like the same story, different characters, repeating over and over.
Probably because most of these guys are following in the footsteps of famous” cult leaders who came before them. They learn about the old leaders and jump at the chance to repeat history. They want power and submissive women, and many of them like to be with children without worrying about the law. I truly believe most of these POS cult leaders weren’t taught by their parents to look at other humans (especially women) as equals. They weren’t shown how to be empathetic
Love this video!! One thing I noticed though at 14:22 and as someone who studies and is still healing from growing up in a cult, I have to jump in and note that charisma is VERY much paramount to being a successful cult leader.
Kris, I have to thank you for doing these videos! I'm currently home recovering from knee surgery and I'm laying in bed in a lot of pain. as a cult survivor this was one of the most riveting fascinating TH-cam videos I ever watched (& I’ve watched thousands) so thank you for your passion for the topic exposing narcissistic cults & your enthusiasm & humour & I hope every victim gets healing for their traumas & CPTSD
Heck yeah another true crime video!! The fact that you can cover such heartbreaking yet infuriating topics and still keep it fairly light with aspects of humour is astounding. I’ve never seen anyone who’s able to do this as well as you do.
Ejnswnnw
Yes she does the humor well and respectfully which is hard! But she pulls it off!
I agree. I was thinking that too. Kris and Bailey Sarian are my faves. It's like you're just chatting with a friend and they're telling you these horrible stories but using that awesome sarcastic humor as well. 😄
Her and Jessii Vee are really good at this stuff
I still have mixed feelings about it, I even started learning about other religions and arguments against it, of course I am not against it because it also helped my family but many aspects are sus haha.
i’m in the SDA church and i’m now recently realizing how cult like it is i’ve been wanting to leave the church but i can’t right now till i move out

As a member of the SDA church i would like to say that the older generations is really strict about what you can and cannot do, but the newer generation is fed up and really just wants to show Gods love which we think is very difficult to do while under strict guidelines
I am not really adventist anymore but boy did they give me a hard time with all their rules😅
theres no way the real church would have any bit of this.

They're learning from each other, haha
She’s literally in his chair. 💀

@@email8384i really don't think this video is targeted towards kids...
@@hinachan70 yeah probably. Still weird though. It happens with friendships as well. It’s just life; there’s no problem with it lol

Tbh, I was not thinking this. I just find their personalities to be similar.
I absolutely agree. It is totally normal to take on some mannerisms of those around you and the ones you love. However, long before I found out they were together, I thought that they were very similar people and would get along together well. Just because there are two people that are so well aligned as Kris and Caleb are, does not mean they are copying each other!

@@AdorableFloof1999 that’s just sick, man! 😭😤

Congratulations!! Sorry for your trauma but glad you were able to make the break ❤

Disgusting, all of them tbh
this is hands down one of the heaviest cases ive watched in a long time. i’ll be thinking abt this for a while

I have watched a lot of true crime documentaries, many of which had horrific stories of torture, so I have grown used to hearing the gruesome details. When I tell you that Kris's deep dives are more interesting than famous podcasts and most movies and music yall know I ain't lying.
The Ant Hill kids is probably the most revolting cult story I've ever heard of. It is so degenerate it kinda defies comprehension.
