Hello and thanks, I just learn to use the CQ18T and I am astonished that I lose channels 1&2 to Stereo out and I cannot use more than 14 channels for instant recording if I need to hear it out from the DAZ/LOGIC PRO??? I dont seem to be able to change Stereo Out from my recording song to CQ:s MAster out on channels 23/24, can you explain why? This is a big minus for both products I feel now...☹ No offence to you thanks for the video! I refer to this moment on your video at: 01:18: th-cam.com/video/AQR2bkhZzFc/w-d-xo.html
Hi, just found this out from another commenter: The stereo out can be assigned to the USB channel through the DAW. In logic Pro, this can be done by going into settings > audio > I/O Assignments > and selecting the output to 19-20. This will send the steoeo output to the USB track on the CQ mixer.
Thank u for the info. I recently purchased an Allen & Heath CQ20T digital mixer. I connected it to a dell 24inch touch screen monitor.. had to download a dell driver for Mac (UPPD DRIVER)first to allow touch screen capability on Dell P2424HT and the CQ Mixer App for my macbook pro. I am now able to control the CQ mixer with a larger screen.
That's a cool way to connect a touchscreen monitor to the mixer... Is this setup for your studio? Or are you planning to use the mixer for live shows as well?
Very cool. I am assuming you are connecting the Dell touch screen to a Mac computer not the A&H mixer? Just wanted to clarify. It would be pretty amazing if the mixer had a video out itself to use a big touchscreen with no computer! Anyway, I had the exact same thought, I am using a 13 inch MacBook Pro, and it would be really nice to have a 24 inch touchscreen! Great job
wonderful video series. I love this mixer, but I still found it challenging when rehearsing live. What I need to do is have about a dozen microphones, recording, drums and instruments, and then have two vocal mics actually go out of the main outputs to a PA, but all the rest of the mix only be recorded and not pass through live. I currently do this using two separate presonus mixers. My question is, do you know an easy way to send 4 inputs (2 mics, and stereo drum pads) to the main output only, and the entire mix to recording? thank you very much in advance -Scott
Hi Scott, This is possible with this mixer. If your'e recording with the SD card, you can arm the inputs you want to record in the multitrack page. When doing this, make sure to have the source point to 'Post Preamp' in config > USB/SD > Source Point. This means that when you multitrack record, the inputs you armed get recorded regardless of the fader page level.
Great video, you might want to mention that when setting up the connection between Logic and the CQ make sure the I/O Assignments in the audio setting in Logic is set for Output 1-2.
Crossly - very interesting! What about going the other way - sending say 3 channels of audio from Logic to the CQ18-T for playback. Can those be set to mono channels above channel 18? And then, are those channels available to be routed to the different aux outs like any other channel of audio would be?
Yes I think this is possible. I tried doing this on a live stream, but messed up the routing and couldn't get any sound. Will try again and let you know!
Amazing video! thanks for sharing, I do have a question, do you know or maybe a way to handle the volume from the computer to the mixer? Instead of using the mixer volume in case of using it as audio card? I can't make it work and in the computer the volume is MAX so I have no idea if in editing it's the real audio or not!
Hi. Sorry to hear you're having trouble. If you've used a USB cable to connect to your computer, first go to the system settings and set the output to CQmixer. Then go into the fader page on the mixer and turn up the USB Fader. (This is found in the third tab on the fader page) I hope this helps...
@@crosslylucas Hi! Thanks for the reply! That is how I have it, but the volume is only manageable from the mixer and not computer's system, I guess is a thing from the mixer, funny thing I had a regular Xenyx vía usb and the volume from the Mac worked all the time but not here, no idea!
Hello Lucas. I have recording a session 16 tracks (multi tracks) on my CQ18T and I can't record this session on Logic. Only track 1& 2 are present on LOGIC. What is the problem? Please.
Hi there is a simple solution; Go on config page > USB/SD (next to outputs) > select stream mode as multitrack. Then you can select individual inputs inside Logic and multitrack all inputs.
Unfortunately no... Not without introducing a lot of delay. You'll have to connect the mixer and FOH speakers to Logic... This means that your computer has to process the plugins you're using and so it will need a buffer time (delay). With that being said, there may be a way to use plugins without delay... I'm just thinking it through in my head, I'll get back to you when I think of something. It's probably possible
Hi, I think I've figured out a way... It's definitely possible and fairly easy to use logic or other plugins live with the CQ18T. I've made a video on it... its called 'Use 3rd Party Plugins LIVE!' I hope it helps... and thanks for your comment!
I wanted to ask you about your input gain. When I let my cq auto gain a mic for example my level in logic is -15db while yours seem to be pretty normal
Hi. Yes, the auto gain sets the level to around -15, but for this video, I set the gain pretty high to make it easier to see... I wouldn't really go above -15 while recording through because the preamps are very clean and don't add noise when turned up in post.
Hey Lucas, Could you help me with the answers to these questions? 1) Can I use hardware compressors or other outboard gears in anyway with this. 2) Can I play a minus one track via bluetooth or USB and record the band as well at the same time with all the tracks using multi track recording feature? 3) What are the other limitations to look out for in this mixer.. and is there any other gear that replaces this at this price point
HI. 1) there's no way to send and return hardware gear from this mixer as far as I know. (Probably possible through some trickery) 2) Looking at the mix pad app, there is no way to record Bluetooth on a Multitrack session. 3) if you're looking into digital mixers at this price point, I'd suggest the Mackie DL16sor DL32 lS and presonus studio live 24 digital mixers.
@@crosslylucas Hey thanks for the reply. I just wanted to know regarding the 2nd point.. I might have to record karaoke shows on my mixer when its just singer and the backing track so I need to know if it is possible if I am playing the track through a pendrive or any online platform and both my track as well as the singer singing should be recorded as a stereo mix maybe into an sd card. So is that possible?
One way you could do this is by sending the Bluetooth audio to OUTPUT 1 and then recording OUTPUT 1 as a Multitrack. This can be configured through the output page > USB/SD settings.
Thank you. Just received my CQ18T today.
Exciting!
Really helpful. Only advice on this I could find on the internet!
You saved me a lot of time. Thank you.

Yes, will do! This is a very useful function in Logic.

Can the click track be set in stereo 1 and 2 in. For live band

Does it have direct monitoring for tracking?
Yes, the CQ18 has 2 headphone outputs for monitoring.
