It's honestly refreshing to see how a dream of someone can turn out to not be as expected and fitting as you previously thought. It's interesting how this trip made you realize that and learn more about yourself! I hope you're feeling better again now that you're back home. Although the happy look in your eyes says it all! :)
I agree!! Everyone romanticizes traveling for a long time but doesn’t always talk about the downsides. I went on three trips this summer and by the end of the last one I just wanted to be home so badly.

So happy that you learned something about yourself while trying to live life like a digital nomad. Many people tend to be scared of taking a step back or changing course, we should all be kinder to ourselves and realise there's nothing wrong with re-evaluating your choices 😊 If anything, it's a sign of great maturity! The reason behind your decision so relatable. Even as an East Asian girl, my move to South East Asia for sixth form went so different from what I expected, I found it super hard to adapt to the culture, annoyingly hot&humid weather and the country in general. But I have no chance of turning back. Kind of glad that I only need to stay for another year as year 13 starts. But also at the same time, after experiencing this, I'm excited yet concerned about moving to the uk/us the year after for university. Will ask for survival tips if I end up going to the uk!
The words you said at the end of this video is so touching as well, never have I realised how much of a sweet comfort zone my home city is before the move, and now when I come back for holiday, I treasure each moment so much more than before. It's really hard to say goodbye to a place I love and have lived for 16 years(out of my 17 years of my life), knowing that I won't be able to see it for another 6+ months

Your video really touched me, bc I'm rn in Thailand, and I decided to shorten my 6 weeks solo trip bc i felt really homesick, so now I feel less alone in this situation haha
Traveling in a country and living in a country are very very different. I think this trip taught you that. I completely understand your desire to return to your life and routine at home. It’s such a blessing to have a life you love in the same place as your home. But I do think you should give the digital nomad life another go in the future, maybe instead try different continents/regions each month to see if there is another cultural lifestyle you like better. You can always travel for a month or two and then just stay home the rest of the year. Idk why I’m babbling all of this 😅 Whatever you do, I look forward to following along. Thank you for being so open and sharing your life with us ❤

i still want to travel and explore new places, but as i said, going so far away from home and trying to 'live' so far away from home perhaps isn't for me?! angelo and i want to go to scotland for sure, and we have so many plans for in the UK and of course, small(er) trips abroad 😉😉😉
You should definitely go back to Veitnam. I did 3 1/2 weeks backpacking there and it was incredible.. you may prefer that to slow travel x

I watched a couple of your videos (you remind me of my niece, Samantha) and enjoyed them both. My wife and I have traveled to a handful of places in the last decade and when I saw the question about more travel near the end of your video I thought you might like to visit Chaudiere Lodge in Canada. We went with our son and his then girlfriend from Michigan. We live in the San Diego area of California and flew to Chicago and drove to see friends in St. Clair, Michigan. The trip would include late June and early July. After spending a little time with our friends, we drove 8 hours toward Toronto. You ultimately get to drive through tribal land for about an hour and then take a little boat to the island in the middle of the French River. Also, we found the highways in Canada to be astonishingly neat and clean. (In my experience, this is rare in the U.S.) I couldn't decide if it was a "basic" resort or a deluxe fishing camp. You stay in cabins and when we visited it was about 40° Fahrenheit at night and about 72° during the day. We thought that was awesome - quite perfect temperature range. They have a gourmet chef and if you let them know in advance they will make sure and accommodate your dietary restrictions. My wife needs gluten-free foods and that was quite helpful. (I tell people that I'm only allergic to calories, which swell my waistline.) The food was absolutely delicious. In my opinion, it was unusual to eat anything that was merely good. Most of it was great to out-of-this-world. I can't speak to the level of processing. They seemed to prepare it all themselves. (Is cooking or baking considered processing food?) We are not specifically into fishing, but you can go out with guides for an extra fee if you like. We did that one day and it was quite fun, but we do eat fish. My wife and I also paddleboated around the island, so I'm confident a couple your age could do it. We also kayaked together in single-seat kayaks. They sang songs around an indoor fire at the lodge at night and you were welcome to join in. I did.
We were also blessed to celebrate Canada on July 1st, which was a first for us. We visited the first nation's pow-wow (I believe that's the term they used.) for a day and then returned to the island. Quite pleasant and definitely a new experience. Friendly people all around.
When we were done in Canada, we were back in St. Clair, Michigan for a wonderful 4th of July celebration of American Independence.
We drove back to Chicago and our son and his girlfriend got to see where the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team played while my wife and I reserved seats at great and popular restaurant (non-vegan).
I definitely recommend you and yours try this trip or at least an island on the French River. There's plenty of enjoyment on the river even if you don't eat fish. Also, a gourmet chef! (I have no idea, but maybe you could offer to tell people about your experience there and you could barter for your stay?)

I think traveling is so fun!! But after 2 weeks I miss home and our 3 cats so so much (it’s actually hard for me to leave them lol). And I come home appreciating it so much more. I think having a home base is important to me. As a fellow vegan, the food issue can also become tiring to me ❤

Holly, I understand homesickness very well and things not turning out as planned. When I used to go with my mother to Italy the whole summer for like 2 to 3 months, I suffered homesickness because my mother always went to Italy without my father and I used to miss my father something awful and my mother was way too short-tempered with me and I did not like it. I could not travel with people who are always getting angry for nothing.

I didnt know your mom stayed in Malaysia for a while. Im from the Philippines, and my mom would always tell me how different the climate was back then. It was a cool breeze before. They can play all day under the sun without being burnt to crisp, nothing like this one. And even when I was a kid, it's still colder during summers than it was today. Thats climate change for yah 😭 Anw yea even I who is from southeast asia cant bear the heat. Next time maybe drop by and stay during Ber months.

I have a great relationship with my parents/family in general and I miss them dearly (I am 30 and I still go on holiday with them whenever I can), but I guess I am just... genetically made for travel? 😂 I lived abroad for about 10 years, since I finished high school, and for the past couple of years I've been a digital nomad and traveled even more. I feel like I found my ideal lifestyle, the idea of starting a new life in different places completely on my own is such an exciting, happy thought for me. I visit home super frequently, but I have zero problems with traveling to the other side of the globe, the only thing limiting me in my plans is my budget lol but I have friends who could never do the same and it made sense for their personality and life goals. For me, solo slow traveling is actually a way to recharge myself.
