So I was reading about this place and it turns out all the 14 children who came forward were abused by a mr. John or Andrew (I’ve ran across both names) Christian who worked at the orphanage as an odd jobs man. The abuse wasn’t actually perpetrated by the nuns but the nuns were said to have known what was going on and turned a blind eye. Which in my opinion makes them just as guilty.
Hi .i lived there 30yrs ago when the main convent was a mother and baby unit .upstairs was called shalom where i was and downstairs was wheathill .the childrens home was oppite where you called the nursery i used to still go to drop of toys till 2002 as i lived and still live in woolton .the basement of the convent had the laundry by the chapel and used to creep us all out .the abuse was by the old care taker who lived in the out house and was convicted .im still in touch with one of the nice nuns who looked out for us as single mums and also one of the children that lived with his mum one of the civil staff was also my daughters god mothers .
Any place that housed Nuns and Priests you know the outcome wasn’t good, we’re hearing all these horror stories years later. So terribly sad. Not just in the UK but in Canada as well.🇨🇦 thank you for sharing Adam

Trust me they were hearing the horror stories back then too, just nobody cared to do anything about it. Ireland has a horrific history for it, up until far too recently
100% agree . Read the book ghosts of the orphanage by Christine kenneally you will see it’s abuses of the Catholic communities are no longer hiding where ever a Catholic establishment is located, so is crime.

She is your rare jewel. :) It is sad what we are finding happened and is happening to orphaned children, missing children and those handled by CPS here in the states. I use to live here in early nighties, there where a few different buildings on the grounds, it’s sad to see it looking like this but for the best, your video is great maybe next time no jokes about ppl being abused it’s horrific and sad for the victims, that being sed thank for the vid 😊

@@deedee9312 yes I was looked after thank goodness some staff where not very nice but I was a troubled child they prob found me hard to handle, I met my best friend here an we are still friends she was lucky aswel but no one else unfortunately

Adam, those tunnels you saw are for the Nuns, it's so they were able to move around the buildings without being seen. Sometimes you get the same tunnels with priests and they are called priests holes or priests tunnels
I'm here from USA. Detroit actually. I love the buildings I see you explore. This one is so beautiful!! Looks like it was built by the very finest builders. I hate to hear it when they decide to tear them down. Honestly though, they tore down almost all the abandoned houses here and it makes a huge difference on the way things look. Creepy old houses are cool but blight isn't. If it's not safe and nobody's going to fix it up, probably best to clear it out. Look forward to seeing more from you.
It doesn’t surprise me there was Physical abuse and SA abuse and even murders in that orphanage there .. My First Nations Ancestors and my First Nations Ex husband who was 4 years old when him and his siblings were put in Residential Schools were SA abused and physically abused in Residential Schools and many of children murdered there ! Those Priests and Nuns who abused the children in Residential schools and in orphanages and Church run private schools were never held accountable to this Day ! Absolutely appalling and disgusting 🤬
seems like nuns are always doing bad stuff to kids way back then. Maybe they thought since they were nuns they had the authority to do whatever they wanted and still be good people because they were nuns...shame on them for what they did to kids!! Hopefully the orphans went to good homes and are doing good today as adults.
I was an infant in st. Joseph’s Orphanage in Burlington, Vermont I was only living there for two and a half months. I was luckily adopted out or my sad little fate would have been lifelong ruin or most certainly death. The orphans live a tormented ptsd life , long after the criminal and abusive priests and nuns long pass away, but they have met their maker- they are burning in hell with the devil

The stickers on the nursery doors are AdHock Properties. They do "guardian" tenancies. It's to have someone on site to be kinda like security guarding. So that there is someone living on the premises to stop squatters and people vandalising empty properties. Eg, a huge place in the middle of London fir £300pcm all in! So someone gets cheap accommodation and the property is looked after and not vandalised :)

It seemed to me that they stripped every floor and wall as well as fireplaces that had any value before they knock it down. I don't understand why they left that beautiful entry way untouched. They could have at least salvaged the moldings and the doors. Thanks for taking us along on this explore.

Nuns can be so evil at times and they call themselves very religious .. nope a lot of them are evil and horrible. They did horrible things to babies and children and some of the priests joined in too. Hi Lisa she's so lovely. I bet it made her sad to hear about those poor children as she has a heart of gold like you Adam. I think they may do that place up as it could be a listed building .. that means if it is a certain age it can't be knocked down ... A building is listed when it is of special architectural or historic interest considered to be of national importance and therefore worth protecting. As the term implies, a listed building is actually added to a list: the National Heritage List for England.
