FYI, Abrams tanks are always shipped with the turrets reversed.
I wish those flatcars came with the 6-wheeled trucks I've seen on DODX 41000 flatcars. (They looked like 2 4-wheeled trucks bolted together!)
Those cars are beautiful. One thing, MTH did make another run on the Abrams Tanks. It was 3 years ago. I have a 4 car set plus a picked up the extra to make a 5 car set.
Yeah but I believe those were green camo instead of the desert camo
Probably too late in your layout build, but I don’t see many people building military bases or depots on their railroads. They are really cool, especially when loading artillery pieces and vehicles.

The Striker is an Armed Fighting Vehicle (AFV) so saying it's a assault vehicle is not far off
Here is some info for the military loading of vehicles. STRYKER M-1128 MGS ( Mobile Gun System) , also the HUMMVW( High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) with the exception of the Strykers being tan (actual MGS vehicles are all green) look very realistic. The one issue is that they are too realistic, for example the HUMMVWs and STRYKERs would dismount the Cal .50 machine guns for rail travel But not really a big deal, for the uninitiated they wouldn't even notice . But the biggest thing I noticed as the rail cars the HUMMWVs and the M1A1s tanks are mounted on, the green DODX cars are designed to carry M60/M1 TANKS ( the yellow/white stripe on the side of the car tells where to position the type of tank on the car), and the yellow TTX cars would be carrying the HMMVWs. Also the cannons on the M1A1 tanks would be facing toward the back of the tank for rail transport. Overall awesome detail, former U.S Army Tanker and Rail head NCO.

Previous Stryker crewman here! I served on the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS) for just over four years. I purchased the Railking 4-car set in the green. The vehicles themselves are very well detailed.
While the Humvee was produced in both the tan and green paint scheme, the Stryker was never produced in anything other than NATO green.

That's a good start, looks great.i have over 50 tanks 20 humvees,20 Bradleys and 6 Strykers.
I don’t know whether to cry or salute! Cry because I just cannot afford everything and do not have any military cars or salute because it is the patriotic thing to do.
Then again, maybe it is to do both. Cry in recognition for those who have done so much for us and our Country and then to salute their efforts, great accomplishments, and tremendous sacrifices along with their family’s great sacrifices ALSO.

I believe, They did have a rerun of Abrams tanks but they where in the green camo an train world is still selling them

The Stryker is the Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS) variant. While the vehicles look great MTH did not bother doing a proper flat car. They just used a old model flat car and painted it green and slapped DODX on it. A proper flat car for this type of load would be this: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1175989

The Stryker vehicles are used to carry troops and by the looks of the barrels they are also artillery vehicles

The military vehicles on MTH flatcars are made by Solido in France. You can also purchase these military vehicles separately that come in a display case

The addition of the Humvees, and Stryker flat cars adds to the flare of the Abrams flat cars. Prototypical to how real life military trains are setup, and pulled. Excellent content, and keep up the good work.

Eric. FYI the stryker isnt a tank it is a troop carrier such as a Bradley fighting vehicle (BFV)
Thanks for the informative video. Purchasing all the available cars was a good move and makes for an impressive train along with the Abrams tank flatcars bring up the rear with the AT&SF caboose. Interesting lash up of motive power too. One thing I find interesting is that most of the small scale vehicles that MTH and others use for flatcar loads are modeled in 1/43rd scale which is roughly 24% larger than O scale's 1/48th. Certainly not a deal breaker unless you are a rivet counter. 1/48th scale vehicles are pretty hard to come by though Menards tends to offer them for the most part. Last year an eastbound CSX freight ran thru town and its entire consist was military vehicles on flatcars.

I remember once just getting an Tamyia M1A2 Abrams and putting it on a flat car and calling it a day
I’ve always wanted an ex mil Humvee of my own. The closest I got was my FD brush truck was an ex mil tow missile launcher. I think I was one of a very few that enjoyed driving/operating it. I was sad to learn it’s no longer in service and gone to parts unknown.
Eric, I think you should put in a military base on your layout and have the train dropping off those hummers,, striker vehicles and Abraham tanks with a loading/unloading ramps
The Styker looks like it is based off from LAV platform Light Armored Vehicle (assault vehicle)

Striker vehicle is an AT vehicle iirc
Is it normal to run them backwards? I've always heard do not run things on flat beds down the interstate backwards because it will blow windows out and tears parts off.
I've seen it happen on tractors, golf carts and boats.
Are military vehicles different?

The military sets were a home run. I too broke a few pieces unboxing haha. I was a little disappointed they didn't produce the tan bradley but the green still looks great. Just waiting on the rocket launchers to arrive now. Running them all together is one hell of a long train haha

Eric, my kind of train! What is the CSXT car leading the flats? Do you have a Desert Storm engine? These type of trains usually loaded up in Newport News onto special roll on roll off transports next to the shipyard.

The eight-wheeled armor vehicles is known as an LAV or “Light Armored Vehicle”. It’s what’s called an amphibious assault vehicle and it’s primarily used by the Marine Corps for reconnaissance.
Cool fact: these things have can float. They can be loaded onto Naval amphibious assault ships which have a large gate at the aft of the ship. The gate lowers and these things drive off the back of the ship and float to shore carrying Marines and a Navy Corpsman - which is what I used to be. Very cool! I’m going to have to pick a set of these up.

The only thing I noticed is that in the real world, they would put 3 humvees on a flat car.
and the Abrams turrets are at 12 o'clock, should be at 6 o'clock. Also, the chains on the Abrams should be on the front and rear hull in a cross pattern and not thrown over the hull for and aft the turret.
i will never purchase anything US Military Related from a known enemy , This is insane , with all the 3d printers out there,you would think just 1 company could make USA Military here in America, 2 THUMBS UP FOR YOU ERIC, BUT HUGES THUMBS DOWN TO THESE COMPANYS

Most stuff is made in Asia these days, that's just the reality of the current market. Most American flags are made overseas as well. It's silly to blame the company. If they made them here, the cars would cost 3 times what they cost now....and they're already expensive.
