I see many people who only need the basics sticking to what they have. With Windows 10 having over a 70% market share, people are pettioning Microsoft for a 3-5 year extention for Windows 10 security updates. I wish they would just do security updates for Windows 10 and leave the features alone! Co pilot is coming to Windows 10 whether we like it or not.
I will still be using Windows 10 until the updates cease to exist in October 2025. I tried Windows 11 and i had many problems with compatibility especially with the software i was using for Windows 10. Windows 11 would not work right with my printer, Roxio Media Creator and Irfanview and other software. Windows 11 was a disaster for me, i had to roll back to Windows 10.
I have been running Win 11 almost since it first rolled out and I'm looking forward to Win 12. An interesting thing happened today (20 Jan 2024) when Copilot appeared in my taskbar. It was unprompted and just showed up on startup. I did not want it there, and unpinning from the taskbar was not an option until I went into settings and removed it there. There had been no update or other changes in the system before its appearance.
I hope to see in the new operating system a customized touch keyboard where I can type from two languages at the same time without the need to switch between the two languages all the time. this will be good for math scripts and dual language scripts..
If Microsoft keeps bloating up their os which they certainly will for 12 and gets further from a simple experience that windows 7 had which really was their last good os, I'm done, I'm not looking forward to more bloat nobody wants, stricter requirements that ill have to bypass on my older but still perfectly capable hardware, more registry edits to turn features off that nobody wants and are a distraction. Endles hots file mods and service disabling to remove telemetry data collection l, PowerShell and command prompt commands to remove more stuff thats pre-installed that you can't remove by normal means, then every new build of the os having to repeat some of those steps to remove hardware requirements and manually having to update it by grabbing a fresh image from Microsoft, removing the requirements for internet connectivity to install it and bypassing the need for a gastly Microsoft account, then running sfc scan now after being all finished, all my windows 11 machines are heavily modified to remove all that junk, had to go though all of that to make it leave me alone, if 12 is a subscription service, ill be moving to Linux fully or even Mac os. When your customers have to fight it beyond just setup and installing favorited programs Microsoft, you have failed. boy can't wait
My PC and laptop are both almost 8 years old, but they were top-of-the-line and upgradable. Both run Windows 10 and are still pretty fast and capable systems... but neither fit Windows 11 requirements. While I planned on a new PC in a few years, I'm angry at MS for trying to force my hand. With so many currently running Windows 10, this makes no sense for MS to abandon us until (at least) Windows 11 has a majority of the market, but even then, it looks like 12 going to be out! If I could realistically leave MS I would. Feels like I'm a battered spouse that keeps trying to keep MS happy... but he keeps beating me with a phone book!

Actually, you will still have the mandated TPM 2.0/CPU requirements, and a recommended new AI chip (though not required.) I am keeping Windows 10 till my PC dies. I am not updating just because Microsoft says. Windows 10 does everything I need to do at this time. I am not a fan of salesmenship type videos. Concerned about AI and privacy, and the hundreds of millions of PC's that won't be updatable after October 14, 2025. It is going to be a security nightmare for hundreds of millions.

Im also still on Win 10,see absolutely no reason to try win 11 even, and already releasing 12 next year is Waaay too soon for an entire new OS. I will also stay on Win 10 for aslong as i can. But the problem can be in the future, that newer software or games will start requiring the newest Windows,as some games are already dropping support for Win 7 - 8 like GTA for e.g. And them abandoning security updates ( Unless you pay a fee ) for Win 10 is my main concern.
Microsoft should release a CLI only version, so we don't need to put needles in our eyes seeing this ugly, not for work optimized gui's. Or just convert windows from an standalone os, just to an translation layer like WSL or Proton/Wine. So that we can use all windows applications, on an os with an functional gui.
OK BUDDY, It's special huh? Then where is - a native audio driver so that you don't have to risk malware by getting the pathetic Asio audio driver? a DAW like Logic? Windows has never built one. a knock my socks off virtual machine technology [e.g hyper V on steroids] that would run Windows as a VM on Linux. Instead of that WSL rubbish. a full release of ALL the traffic being sent to Microsoft, both in layperson and full geek form. a minimal version with no bloat. Yeah, from windows 8 to 12 they completely changed the ancient look to a more modern "android" like look. Ubuntu also did this but much more quick transition. More and more OSes now have a more rounded and flatter look, rather than the highly detailed graphics and boxy performance optimized look. Now than we have access to so much more computing power we can afford to invest a bit of our resources to make it look nicer and in a sense more "human" since it looked very different and repulsive when it was very boxy and especially the command line.

Linux. End of problem
Windows 14 will make the RTX 4090, and a minimum 128 GB RAM, a strict requirement, I think.
