All the paths always converge in the same area, so whenever i played through one path, i use a rewind-effect that goes back to when the paths splitted to show the 2nd and 3rd option.

This game has so much going for it, I can't understand how people can hate something that is clearly doing the best it can.

This was an underrated RE tbh, I remember playing it as a kid, got a lil far, but was too scared to continue lol. I also remember having my sister play some parts for me haha. Will never forget this.
I still think the environments in this game look beautiful. So much unique textures, with shadows and light effects manually crafted into them.

My dad bought me this game for PS one, I was a kid and had no idea what a resident evil game is. So I started playing went pass the first door found the guy on the ground and suddenly the first zombie popped up behind me right into my face and then boom! I threw the controller into the air and never came back to this game. Watching this longplay reminds me of the memories. Good days 😊😌
And I have to add that I reallyyyyy hate those big tall robot-like guys who charge at you 😫

That wind sound and dog howl is incredibly atmospheric. That howl reminds me of the wolf howl in Castlevania SOTN.

I actually like the first-person prospective in this game. Funny thing is, Resident Evil 1 was supposed to be in the 1st person as well, but it was too difficult to realize back in 1996, so developers switched to the 3rd person with pre-rendered backgrounds. Same technology was in the predecessor game of RE series - Alone in the Dark (1992, Infogrames)

I on the other hand thought there was a zombie in the closet, I mean anyone who had played Resident Evil games would think the same, so I shot towards where the head of the zombie would be, which was high. Then was relieved that it was only Lily, of course I didn't shoot her like him and the one bullet I did shoot wouldn't hit her anyways so that was close.

When I was a little kid I bought a bootleg version of this game from the Chinese computer store down the street from my house. They modchipped my ps1 too. This was back in the dayyy.

I always wondered why people call it one of the worst survival horror games IN HISTORY. It has ominous, gloomy atmosphere and you feel really desolated.
Or maybe I say that cause it was my first survival horror ever.
It's a light-gun shooter mixed with survival horror elements. And it's incredibly silly. But geniunly fun, to be honest.

My first RE game was actually Code Veronica, but I thought it was Tomb Raider (yeah, that was dumb). I didn't even know that term "Resident Evil" existed, I only knew RE: Survivor as Biohazard. And I didn't even play Code Veronica, it was too scary for me back then.

Puede que a nadie le parezca bueno pero para mí era inquietante y le daba cierto toque de terror al juego además ver a los zombies en primera persona no tiene precio. Afortunados aquellos que jugaron y supieron apreciar los pequeños detalles de este juego y los que dicen que es "malo" seguramente lo jugaban de día
La gente no sabe apreciar era muy bueno este juego la ambientación ,la musica ,los lugares, los enemigos y muchas cosas mas hacían que este juego fuera tan misterioso ,imagínate una remasterización o algo parecido

My first Resident evil game too. The most realistic gun shot sound ever and you even see each bullet on the screen and the cursor (which you could move in any direction over any zombie-body part while you stand still) making you feel like you're really there in first person perspective. I still replay this videogame and I marked on the manual all the times I played it through the years around 8 or 10 times so far since year 2000, I would have to check the manual to know for a fact and a number of times during this game maby 5 times you choose a certain path out of 3 or 2, and when you do you can't return to choose another path (and you can't even save the game either), so each time I played this game I always kept the PS1 on even over night if I had to, and I also wrote down on the manual each path I took so that next time when I played this game I would choose a different path.
If Game was remade with today's RE Engine, it would be a success.

I don't get why people hate on this game...it is just like the others on the ps1 except they went for an arcade gameplay feel to it and you get unlimited ammo which is awesome! It has great music and the same sound effects and a decent storyline. I choose resident evil survivor over any of the new games....(re5/6).no it's not better than 1/2/3/4/code veronicax but it's still a good game. I'll take it over re dead aim and the outbreak series too.

You forgot that you play a modern PI in this game. Every other game where you play as a PI is either noir (1930a-1940's) or cyberpunk (Ttchnologically advanced dystopia).

What ? Impressive ? Sure it can't be technically as good as the original ones, because it's full 3D, but what is good looking about this game ? There's nothing. Characters are awfully animated, cutscenes are disgusting, 3D models are bad, levels are all empty... On the same time on PS1 you had Metal Gear, Dino Crisis 2, Tekken 3, FFIX... Tons of games. And I don't speak about the rest. I must be one of the few players who played it with the Guncon, and it's absolutely painful, really. Moving with the guncon is just satanic. If this game would not have been labelled Resident Evil, nobody would care about it, there's worse on the same system for sure, but except the name, there's not much to save about it.

Honestamente este es uno de los juegos mas meh que he jugado, la mayoria de los assets son reutilizados del RE2, la historia es super mediocre, parece fanfic.
El unico punto positivo son los diferentes caminos que puedes tomar, pero aun asi era de mis favoritos del PS1 y aun ahora despues de ver lo mediocre que es en algunos aspectos lo recuerdo con nostalgia, por eso estoy aqui viendo el gameplay, es uno de esos placeres culposos

Ese ha sido uno de sus puntos débiles y a su vez uno de sus puntos fuertes.
Me parece interesante el concepto de una isla-colonia, dirigida por un megalómano con puño de hierro, que maneja a los habitantes cómo si fueran sus súbditos. Aparte, experimentan con niños ( concepto que luego rehusaron en RE2 remake).

37:14 this is the most dangerous place in the entire game. Sometimes 2 spiders will be spawned and a walking zombie. Once you got out of the elevator, both spider will constantly shoot Poison at you and will be die in no time!

Rented this game many times from blockbuster back in the day.. loved playing it with my sister and my best childhood friend. It was quite different than 1, 2 & 3 which we played religiously, but we still enjoyed the hell out of this one!
The best thing about this game is the music. It's so awesome. I also like the characters in this game. I mean come on, Lott took on a Hunter with a baseball bat! That's not just impressive for a 12-year-old kid, but impressive for anyone!

This was my first resident evil game playing. If this was remade with RE 7 style gameplay it would be sooo badass to play again.

I can't say this is a great game, but it is definitely not horrible. Its been a long time since I actually played this game myself, but I remember thinking it was pretty fun at the time. A first person resident evil on the current systems would become something too much like call of duty zombies or house of the dead minus the on the rails approach. Aside from resident evil 4, the HD remake of Resident Evil 1 for the consoles (other than Gamecube remake) is probably the best action Capcom has made to save the acclaimed title in recent years. Good video.

And in RE7 no matter how many bullets you got that hillbilly guy is still going to grab you correct? that isn't good gameplay but in this game we're watching here there's a lot of combat in it and requires actual damn skills
