I think he’s deliberately set up that way to end accidental genocide runs for people who just grind a lot early game and weren’t paying much attention.
Mettaton was especially surprising even though a bunch of other bosses before him died in one hit, both because of his uniue buildup/extra powerful form but also because his music uses the same melody as Undyne the Undying, triggering memories whether conscious or not of the one boss who gave us a hard time so far in the run

Dierker in Saboteur can be counted in lists themed like "One-hit bosses" "Boss who kills himself for the player" for you can end him with one bullet, but if you choose not to,he will kill himself anyway.
One that's really easy to miss because through most of the game he is one tough bastard is Sephiroth. You just beat his two forms in a gruelling (though if you had the right materia, actually pretty easy) fight. Then, as the team walks away, Cloud gets whisked away to fight him mano é mano. The atmosphere is set for it to be the boss fight to end all boss fights, you're bunkering down for the long haul and then, just like that, you hit attack once and Sephiroth just drops. Such an unfitting end for the guy who was single handedly killing dragons while you were still learning how to put on your fatigues and who just moments ago was throwing meteors at you.
While still a boss, technically, that's not Bowser but a baddie in a Bowser suit. It's just like the Bowser(?) boss from Paper Mario 64. I'm sure that was a reference to that. This is true for all of them except for the last one in world 8-4. Still possible to one-hit but, you're gonna have a bad time.
Bangler from the arcade version of The Ninja Warriors. Once you corner him, he starts hyperventilating against a wall, waiting for you to take him out with one slash. The only danger he poses to you is through the gun he starts firing blindly with if you take too long.
That’s not Bowser though, Ellen. That’s one of his minions pretending to be him, as all the Fake Bowsers are revealed to be upon roasting them with a few well-placed fireballs.
imparator IX from sonic chronicles should be on the list since it's littirally the final boss that died in simply one turn, and to top it off you already fought the same guy before and he was one of the hardest fights you had to endure
Also, you might not know this, but in the first Super Mario Bros game, every Bowser you encounter except for the last one, is a decoy that was made by Bowser's magic by turning his minions into his form and powers. You can see this if you choose the "harder" way to defeat each one before World 8. Upon chucking enough Fireballs, the Bowsers will reveal that they were just random enemies transformed by Bowser's magic, through their death animations.
Surprised you don't mention Shadow Okumura of Persona 5. His gimmick is spamming the battle with various mooks of ever-increasing strength, but when you get past all of them Okumura himself will go down in one single hit.
Not quite a boss fight, per se, but F.E.A.R's Paxton Fettel is set up as a significant threat, though coming face to face with him near the end, he just stands there. One melee attack later, & he's deader than arctic roll. Turns out he's just a normal bloke. All's F.E.A.R in love & war, it seems.
If Ancient Wyvern is on this list, Ceaseless Discharge should be here too. P.S. I saw your video of bosses that came back stronger. I want to see a similar video, one containing bosses coming back grosser.
This is from waaaaaay back, and it's essentially impossible to do on purpose, but the dragon at the bottom of the dungeon in Dungeon Master can be telefragged by falling onto it through a pit from the floor above. I did that by accident, IIRC.
Poop-Deck from Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. A game I am not sure Ellen knows exists, since she has referred to "the previous two Borderlands games" in the past.
The sad thing about Mettaton, Alphys can’t put together defense and offense. His box form was unkillable, but had no attack power that mattered. NEO was a glass cannon. The EX form was fancy, but had no good battery life.
In Knights of the Old Republic, there is a Rancor guarding the entrance to the Sith base in the sewers. I'm not sure if you're actually supposed to fight it. In a nearby room you can search some remains and find a vile of odor. Use stealth to place the odor with a grenade in the pile of "food" the rancor is eating. The grenade will detonate when the Rancor eats it.

Metal Man in Mega Man 2. When you fight him for the second time in Wilys castle you can use his own weapon against him and take him out in one hit.
Ouch.
Cutman from MM1 also goes down very quick if you hit him with Gutsman ability.
I think Woodman dies in one hit to Atomic Fireball.
Fun fact: Some newer games describe Kirby as being of infinite power and that he has the suction power of a black hole... terrifying
Why would you include anything from zelda cdi? I can only run so far away from my phone.
Lol
There are messages literally from the devs telling you how to kill the wyvern.
I guess Luke's now confident enough in his dark souls skills to mock Johnny and Aoife
Well they the have a sheild of want equipped which is probably one of the more common learning the souls series items
FUN fact. Mettaton NEO, despite having a DEF of "Supposedly" 9 ACTUALLY has an OUTSTANDING grand total of *-13,000* DEF!
Oh no Wand of gamelon spoilers!
Oh no Wand of gamelon still exists (in some fashion)!
It's not to warn you of spoilers, but to warn you of those horrible cutscenes... *shivers*
So what? I would rather be spoiled than watch and hear those horrid animated scenes and voice acting.
Well, looks like I have to watch "Your Name" again...
Thanks guys, appreciate the shout out! Keep being punny!
pant-wettingly horrible
sounds how i describe my self control around spiders
Me: trying to hide from Danganronpa
The entire internet: muda muda
“Then he drops you into a boss who can actually take a punch or 50.“
I involuntarily screamed when Zelda popped up
Me too lol. My dog wimpered when he saw my that part lol
why no sans bro he just dies when you EVENTUALY hit him
I've never seen anyone do it in one hit,so I didn't know that was possible XD
Ellens "aayyooo" was an out with a yang reference if I ever heard one! Ellen your great!!!!!
Is the thing by your name the result of joining the channell?
@@FelisInsanisCatfood yes
I love how you added a non canon Zelda game to the list 😂
I guess you don’t want to join my fan club then?..
Now now there is no need to fight would you like a cup of tea? Why you...
I can help...
I can...
I can...
PLEASE DON’T KILL ME!
I absolutely LOVED penguins actor in “Gotham” and i love how he literally looks exactly like the penguin in this game but way skinnier.
I went years avoiding undertale spoilers so when I got the game (legit two days ago), I could go in completely fresh but somehow my dumbass got spoiled by a youtube thumbnail I-
I'm legitimately impressed if you managed to avoid that spoiler for so long. Hopefully you've avoided then ending of the Pacifist route, although I don't think it's possible to avoid the ending for Genocide.
@@FoxIord Sans is too widespread

Sheep Creep from skylanders trap team. He can be one-shot if you bring a powerful enough character.
@William K I don't know. I'm just glad I'm not the only skylanders fan.
To be fair, Sheep Creep is a tutorial.
@@pantheman2842 but he does die in one hit.

I'm dying from da "secret screen, buh-da-da-da-da, secret screen" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I nvr played dat game, so dat was genuinely entertaining
i've never gotten around to playing undertale I'm too scared of failing
Don't be afraid of failing. It is OK to fail. Intention is what matters most in that game. Hopefully this message will fill you with determination to try.
I played a bit of it. It's a passable game.
Play it on your own time .
Dont mind the Cringy side of the community , there is NO WAY to fail in Undertale its all about getting your own Ending and lurning a thing or two about yourself.
Dont listen to asholes who tell you how you HAVE to play it because the choices YOU make is all that it matters.
Toriel (Genocide route)
She don't wanna hurt you...
BUT YOU CHOOSE GENOCIDE
SCREW GENOCIDE PLAYERS
Hah, you talked about Metaton, but skipped over Sans. That wimp only has 1 hp.

Keep attacking. He can't dodge forever.
Oh sure, how can I dodge without getting exhausted, the fudge?!
TheLastOne well you see I can’t dodge forever either. And I’m dodging a lot more than he is.
Dierker in Saboteur can be counted in lists themed like "One-hit bosses" "Boss who kills himself for the player" for you can end him with one bullet, but if you choose not to,he will kill himself anyway.
" One-Hit Bosses "
*Dark Souls III*
That sounds like a complete and absolute lie
What else is defeated after one hit?
My self esteem
Satan in south park the boxing match of Satan vs Jesus.
*first notes of megalovaniea*
Ellen, never apologise for your masterful puns. They are always perfect.
I second that. Never apologize for a clever pun.
Bangler from the arcade version of The Ninja Warriors. Once you corner him, he starts hyperventilating against a wall, waiting for you to take him out with one slash. The only danger he poses to you is through the gun he starts firing blindly with if you take too long.
When you finish all side quests and then one tap the final boss..
That’s not Bowser though, Ellen. That’s one of his minions pretending to be him, as all the Fake Bowsers are revealed to be upon roasting them with a few well-placed fireballs.
world 8 bowser is the real one and he goes out the same way
imparator IX from sonic chronicles should be on the list since it's littirally the final boss that died in simply one turn, and to top it off you already fought the same guy before and he was one of the hardest fights you had to endure
Fun list! Thanks for uploading!
Haha, I know right? You' think at some point Bowser would stop standing on bridges. Or better yet, not stand above lava!
DIDN’T YOU KNOW [Neo] IS KNOWN FOR IT’S HIGH DEFENSE?
This is from waaaaaay back, and it's essentially impossible to do on purpose, but the dragon at the bottom of the dungeon in Dungeon Master can be telefragged by falling onto it through a pit from the floor above. The first time I played Dungeon Master on the SNES, I accidentally did this without even realizing it, when I fell into a pit and found a bunch of dragon steaks on the floor.
My favorite pert of this video is Luke just talking over a black screen for like 3 minutes, sounds like a fun game Luke.
Him “flashback to the year 2000 however when Kirby wasn’t a world killer”
Me:😂😂😂😂😂
Fun fact:In Undertale a monster’s defense stays is based on their will to live (According to the library) and in the game’s code Mettaton NEO has -4000 defense
F
Bowser did learn something by 'SMB3' (or World, dunno which came before): instead of enabling just dropping him into lava, he makes you bounce on his head multiple times to make him lose friction and fall into lava.
^ But he didn't realize that standing on the edge of a tilting platform enables quick enough precision right when the fight starts to drop him into lava in 1, maybe 2. I did that by accident, IIRC.
"weaksauce bosses who died in one hint"
*Laughs in sans*
Asgore is easier than mettaton NEO
Poop-Deck from Borderlands the Pre-Sequel. A game I am not sure Ellen knows exists, since she has referred to "the previous two Borderlands games" in the past.
The sad thing about Mettaton, Alphys can’t put together defense and offense. His box form was unkillable, but had no attack power that mattered. NEO was a glass cannon. The EX form was fancy, but had no good battery life.
I'm just happy to see Kirby 64 on this list. Still my favorite Kirby game, even though there's been some good ones since.....
What happened to the second one, it was just a black screen in between 1 and 2
Me: hears intro.
Also me: screams in Sans.
