So, I've come to realize recently why I'm so in love with this song (besides it being amazing). Five years ago yesterday, I lost someone very close to me in my family, and it's been hard on everyone. Wasn't a big fan of this song when I first heard it, but after listening to it a few more times, its growing on me. I love how they didn't make the Diamonds one note villains. They made them sympathetic. I hope we can explore these gems more in the future.

So, I've come to realize recently why I'm so in love with this song (besides it being amazing). Five years ago yesterday, I lost someone very close to me in my family, and it's been hard on everyone.
I realized that I've been acting a lot like Yellow Diamond when it comes to my grieving. I refuse to think about her or losing her because every time I do it becomes too painful for me to function... Whereas other members of my family are more open about their grieving together. I'll often hide away when I start to get emotional about it.
Just wanted to share that because the Crewniverse and Patti LuPone for being able to convey those emotions in a form that helps me process that kind of pain easier.

I love how we can see Yellow Pearl be so distressed by her Diamond's sudden moment of weakness. Maybe she's the only one who get to see a more 'weak' Yellow Diamond when the latter doesn't have to act unaffected by Pink Diamond's death ?
Steven has some of Pink Diamond's memories so surely he must have some of her spirit in this "new generation" of gem-hybrid species.
Yellow diamond represents the mind, and blue diamond represent the heart.
The mind try's to comfort the heart, but even the mind can't deny that it feels the pain of losing someone to.

Wasn't a big fan of this song when I first heard it, but after listening to it a few more times, its growing on me. I love how they didn't make the Diamonds one note villains. They made them sympathetic. I hope we can explore these gems more in the future.
