You know people complained about the Internet and what it has done to our society but videos like this are one of the best things about the internet, 30 years ago I can remember my dad working on our washer and dryer and cursing and being very frustrated trying to figure out how to repair them, I am so thankful for these videos
Our dryer stopped spinning yesterday and I opened the top panel and saw that the belt was no longer on the drum. So I had to replace the belt. I came across this video and it gave me the confidence to order the belt and fix it myself. Now the dryer is running as new. Thank you so much for posting this video and helping 1000s like me.
I watched this video for the fourth time today to brush up on my order of operations, as I've had to resolve several issues with my Duet dryer over the years. I'm deeply grateful for a phenomenal free resource like this. Sincerely, THANK YOU.
Thank you for the help in tearing down my Kenmore HE2. Turns out the rear roller bearing and stud needed be replaced. Saved me a ton of money as I was looking to replace the old unit. As a bonus, my wife is VERY happy with me!!!
Literally a straight forward video. Was looking for one on belt replacement and all those had people going in from the back taking 3 times longer. Great video.
Outstanding video.... I just changed all the rollers, tensioner pulley, belt, and gave it a top to bottom cleaning. 3 hours working at a leisurely pace. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I live in a rural area where repair "persons" are difficult to find, and expensive and time-consuming to book. I just replaced the heating element in my Whirlpool Duet dryer using the instructions in your video. It's working just fine now. The only thing missing from this video was how to remove the decorative trim on the YWED9400 series. I found that answer in the service pamphlet which is hidden in a plastic envelope inside the lower compartment! To remove the trim around the control buttons and the door, gently pry on it and the plastic clips release from the frame. Otherwise, the video was all I needed. Great help and probably saved me $300 or more! Thanks.
This is a very helpful video that I used to take apart my HE2 gas dryer so I could reach the thermal cutoff that had failed. Nice to see clear instructions for disassembling the cabinet to get to the part I needed to replace. Also had the opportunity to clean the lint buildup in the entire interior of the dryer while the drum was out. Thanks for this video!
A while ago, a receipt from my pocket lodged itself under one of the fins in the drum of our HE2. And, over the years, the fin loosened to the point it was wobbling. I thought the inside of the dryer was going to be WAY more complicated than it was. This video was extremely helpful. Thank you!
No doubt, the above is an excellent video for the purposes of disassembling and reassembling, ... I certainly will book mark this site. Just a note (for gas dryers) for someone who may be viewing this video to change out the two gas coil valves; Assuming you've shut down the power, gas and disconnected the wiring harness from each coil, once the lower panel is removed (see base of the dryer), I was able to remove and install the new coils using a short stubby phillips screwdriver without disassembling the dryer for access. The mounting plate for the coils is held by two screws, the screw closet to the front of the dryer was removed first, the other was loosened halfway to swing out the bracket to provide access for removal and installation of the new coils. Note! Once the coils are installed into position before securing the metal bracket support, look for the plastic bump at the top of each coil and align/seat into the dedicated small hole of the metal bracket. :o)
Thank you for posting this video. It helped me a lot. I needed to fix my dryer and I had to take it apart. This was the video that helped me the most. My dryer is fixed and practically sound-free.
Thanks for all of your comments Lisa! It is definitely important to do a full clean of the dryer annually. We're glad you caught the build-up before more damage was done.
is sad that i have a nephew that knows how to fix Appliance. I call him almost a month he never showed up. I have the exact model come to find out it was the thermal fuse. thank you for posting the video. thank God for TH-cam. :)
Thank you for the video...I had a sock and dryer sheet blocking the blower...I was able to fix that problem and vacuum the inside...dryer is up and running...saved me some $$$
Thanks for the great video. I have a Whirlpool Accudry Dryer that I bought used, and I needed to take it apart to get ride of all (OK mostly all) pet hair from the previous owner. This video showed me exactly what I needed to see to get into the filter assembly so that I could get it all cleaned out.
Used this video to replace the idler pulley on a Kenmore HE3 Dryer model: 110.97872603. Was a little different but basically the same parts and steps in this video. Minimal tools needed and costed me less than $35 to do myself. Piece of cake. Thanks so much for posting this!
Is there a way to reach the blower area without taking apart the entire dryer? Got a lint problem and I cant get my hand down the lint trap far enough to get the lint out...
This was a very helpful video. After taking it apart I did not have the inside lint problem I thought I had. Looks like the condensation in dryer tub is coming from the water line. I unhooked the water and the dryer is working fine. But now unable to use the steam feature. Hmmm....next trouble shooting???
FYI - serial # ML4903900 is very different to disassemble. Control doesn't pop off. It is secured by 5 screws, one of which is hidden and I couldn't figure a way to access. The control bracket is also secured with this same screw. There may be other differences as I could get no further without releasing the control panel and bracket.
Great video. I have a Kenmore Whirlpool HE Electric Dryer 110.C8756 which is very similar and so this vid was very useful as I have never taken apart a dryer. Warning: The HE2 Dryer I have above had an EXTRA bundle of wires connected to the door 'closed' sensor (in this video the wire bundle closest to the lint trap at 1:28 min). This cannot be unhooked as easily and is very short. Be careful. .
i have the same dryer and was wondering which pieces exactly i need to repair it. My dryer takes forever to stop. + my front button is broken. How can i know which pieces i need exaclty without buying something for another model? Thanks !!!
Great video but can you tell me if it's normal that my tub won't turn by hand? When I got it I was told it only needed a belt, put the belt on and the tub won't turn, I'm sitting here with my dryer torn apart because I don't think it's normal
Ok..I just went through this. You need to check you tensioner pulley (idle pulley) also check your motor pulley after that check all of your drum wheels. IF ANY of those don't turn then grab some automotive grease and lube the shafts very well. You should be good to go. If they still don't turn, you'll have to replace it. Hope this helped.
Wow, I have no idea what happened but the dryer is spinning happily again. Honestly, I have no idea what I did correctly; but I suspect the door being sensed as open was the problem. Once that front door panel popped and the drum slouched down and out, I thought there was no way I would get it back aligned to spin without undo friction. It was very difficult to put back on; much sweating. In the video, the tech seems to snap it into place at (video time 2:43-2:46) before he puts in the door panel frame bolts back in. However, nothing is said about this sound or what he does to snap it into place so the entire panel is held up and ready for him to put the bolts in. When the door is open, I think that it is unnecessary to put back the middle mounting screw with the plastic bracket as my dryer does not have this affixed back in place. Assuming my jury-rig lasts, this video has saved me $79-85 dollars plus tax plus $15 dollars every 10 minutes (or 90 per hour) for a technician to come buy and fix simple problem. I spent $17 on a new factory light bulb (burnt out) and strike (which I broke). I spent 8-10 hours researching and blogging the problem and 3 hours vacuuming at every step. At least I figured if it was gonna be broken may as well give him a run for his money. THANK YOU KINDLY and SINCERELY for your expertly shot and narrated DIY.
Kenmore (Whirlpool) HE 2 Electric Dryer model: 110.C8756* I do not get a FaultCode Error for anything to do with control panel, moisture, power, or sensors. All that ever shows up in the Diagnostic Mode is "OE" (the E is a backwards 3) which when compared to the technican's instructions relates to the door being shut; could it be a thermal fuse?? Diagnostic Door Test (when plugged in not powered on Press Start for 3 seconds with two pauses of 3 seconds in between). When the diagonistic test is on it is supposed to sound each time I open or close a door; it does not (hence whey I think the dryer thinks its open). I have replaced the burnt out bulb and strike with a factory parts. Vacuumed everything in the lint cavity and behind the bottom front cover well. Any ideas what I could do?
I would recommend using the repair help section of our website (link in the description). If you put your model number in there you'll have access to part, model and symptom specific repair help. That will provide you with a list of parts you can check.
Thank you! Great video! It helped! But a footnote; I could only find the replacement at Lowe's since Home Depot doesn't stock it. Look carefully at how long the belt is. A 92 1/4 inch belt wasn't long enough, so I went back to Lowe's for an exchange. There was a 93" belt in the 92 1/4 inch packaging and it worked so look not at the packaging but what is written on the actual belt.
panel seemed attached to bulkhead when i tried to do this.i have the duet3 electric dryer and lots of things were different. had to disconnect lots of electronics. couldn't unhook moisture sensor wire harnesses. would that actually be the fact, that the panel would be attached to the bulkhead?
More on the lint issues as discussed below. My Whirlpool Duet is 6 years old. I clean the lint trap and, with a vacuum and a dryer cleaning kit, I clean as far as I can reach on a regular basis. When I opened up the cabinet of the dryer, it was full of thick lint - 3 inches deep and everywhere. I inspected and I can't see any loose joins in the vents or places where it's not sealed. There was a scorch mark in the casing beside the heating element which leads me to think that there was a little fire and that's what caused a break in the heating element. Not a good situation.
Head to our website and search using this part number: 1447926. Is that your control panel? If it is, notice there are two screw hole in the middle of the panel at the bottom. There is a plastic piece that covers the control panel that you'll have to remove to get to these screws.
We have a WED70HEBW model. Apparently there is no way to shut off the sounds. Is there a speaker inside that I could disconnect to mute the sounds? Thanks!
The speaker is part of the control board. I do not recommend trying to disable it. If you have an options menu you might be able to change the end of cycle signal and the other tones. Note, not all models have this option.
anna williams Some models have a kit to reverse the door. HE3 is a generic term. Contact our customer service staff with you model number at 1-800-269-2609 or visit www.repairclinic.com?TLSID=1773 and enter your model number to find the kit.
If you have a vacuum with a hose that will fit in the lint trap you use that. You can also use a brush. If you search "dryer maintenance" in TH-cam, our maintenance video will be the first non-ad video. It gives a couple tips about cleaning lint out of the dryer. Let me know if this helps!
al simmons Yes, it will be a similar process. Search by the model number in our repair help (www.repairclinic.com/repairhelp?TLSID=1773) but if no disassembly video is found, then yes, this video would provide sufficient instructions to disassemble your model. We wish you a successful repair!
Our dryer suddenly started smelling like something dead. We checked the entire dryer vent pipe and found nothing. Took the top and back off - nothing. Notice that the vent pipe inside the dryer goes into a kidney shaped metal unit that with the front off in your video looks like it has a fan in it. Is there any way a mouse or lizard could get into that part? Is there any point in taking the front off at this point?
Me Me Fajardo Look for a lock button on the control panel and hold for three seconds. If that does not work you will need to refer to your models user manual.
NEED TO CHANGE OUT THE GLASS ON THE INSIDE OF MY DRYER AND NEED TO KNOW IF IT IS HARD TO DO GLASS IN SHATTERED AND WANT TO DO IT MYSELF I HAVE THE GLASS ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO IT ?
joanne stock That is a do it yourselfer level repair. You will need some tools and the door will need to be disassembled, but you can do it. In this video we take the whole front panel off with the door attached. The door will have screw around the inner panel you will need to remove to get you started.
Thank you. If you are ever in the Holland, Michigan area and I can identify you, I owe you a pitcher of Margaritas. You probably saved me $200 dollars and I'm my wife's hero, again.
I have a Whirlpool Duet Ht not the HE3... the one I have has a different control panel. Up until you remove the control panel, everything else is the same. Once I get there I can't go any further. I can't figure out how to get my control panel off. I don't see any tabs or screw that I can remove to release the panel The center part of it seems to be connected to the door. Can you help? How do I get the control panel off?? Mod# wed9200sq Thanks!
This video allowed me to replace the belt on my ~20-year old Kenmore He3 (110.828326101). Thanks! My unit is older and there were some minor differences that seemed to make my unit a little harder to disassemble, but this video is pretty close, and a huge help! Plust it gave me the confidence that I could actually do this. My control panel, control bracket and circuit board bracket are somewhat interconnected, and it took a few extra steps to remove them. Also, my front panel and bulkhead are a single unit, not separate. Lessons: be patient, and have your vaccuum handy to take out a load of dust from the inside.
Just don't leave your dryer cord against the sharp metal of the dryer like they did toward the end of the video. It has a bracket that MUST be attached to the cord and the case of the dryer, otherwise the sharp metal WILL cut through the cord and short out or energize your dry with 120 volts of electric and may cause, death, fire or both.

Your how-to videos are always so helpful. Do you have a video on how to change the door latch for Whirlpool Duet?
We do not. If you enter your model number into a Google search you should be able to find a diagram of your machine.

having same issue. just stopped yesterday
I open my dryer and I replace the fuse and put it back together and still don't start could be something else? Please help
Make sure your belt isn't broken. If its intact then most likely need a new motor...
Frater Sol doesn’t give me a code it turn on then i hear a click under. If is the engine is very expensive?
In the tools list it says Putty knife. What is that for?
This is a great video and very usefull. I wish there was one of these for every machine I would ever possibly need to fix.
We hope one day there is.

Lessons: be patient, and have your vaccuum handy to take out a load of dust from the inside.
First step, good. Second step...mine doesn’t look like this.
Wesley Lowe You can install a strain relief on the cord which would prevent that too.
