    Hello. I'm about to do my first full detail(Thanks to your vids) and my plan was to use VSS, Black light, Jet seal, and finish with Butter wet wax. All being applied with the TorQ 10FX. Well maybe not the Butter wet. I might do that by hand. My question is, which pads should be used for each of those application? Thanks.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Dave, that's awesome! For VSS, you can start off with an Orange Pad or a Green Pad if your paint is softer or if the scratches are lighter. Apply Black Light, JetSeal, and Butter Wet Wax all with the Black Pad. The Black Pad has no cut and will not remove any paint. Butter Wet Wax is actually super easy to apply with your 10FX if you so desire. I'm going to leave a link to the Pad Chart below so you can see all the different color pads and when you should use them! Thanks for watching, Dave!

    How do you guys address build-up on the pad? I was recently polishing a 2015 Yukon XL and by the time I got done with one side the pad was saturated. Some of the polish had dried on the edges and was causing some micro-scratches. I didn't realize the pad had lost is fluffiness and polishing until it was too late. I ended up switching to another orange pad and did what I could.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey buddy, thanks for reaching out to us. If clotting is the problem, you should have a soft brush and some pad cleaner on hand to remove any spent polish and stripped clear coat. You could use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process. Having a back up pad is recommended always.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question, Dave. How long you wait just depends on the chemical you are using. For Black Light, wait 30 minutes of cure time before applying a second coat or JetSeal. For JetSeal, wait 20 minutes of cure time before applying the wax. If you're ever unsure, you can always look on the label or the product page where it tells the proper cure times! Glad to have you part of the Chemical Guys family, Dave, and good luck with your first detail! 👍👍👍

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Edgar, thanks for watching our great video. The best way to revive the paint is to polish it, that will reveal the fresh paint underneath. If you're looking for a one step polish, V4 might be a good option because it's not the most aggressive option, and it's perfect for sensitive paint. If a multi stage correction is in the cards, you'll want to start V36 and an orange pad to remove the faded clear coat, and finish with a white pad and V38. You start off with the least aggressive approach because you don't want to remove too much clear coat. Once you've finished polishing, then you would apply a sealant and a wax that would give the paint a nice beautiful shine. Freshly polished paint will look incredible, and the coatings will work to cultivate and enhance the rich natural shine. Stay tuned Edgar, more great videos are coming your way.

    Do you have to throw clay block away after use? Like with other clay you fold it before throwing it? Would a clay block be recommended over clay bar?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Waseem, thanks for watching! The clay block can be used many many times before you have to toss it, you will know when the clay material starts to crack and no longer picks anything up. Clay bars can be folded over numerous times before they have to be discarded, also you only break off a small piece to knead into a disk. Clay blocks are really easy to use, I also tend to think it's a less messy process because you don't get clay luber all over your hands. One thing to consider is that if you drop a clay bar, it's not usable anymore because it will pick everything off of the ground. Personally I think the Clay block is the way to go, however some people prefer the clay bar. Stay tuned Waseem, we've got more great videos coming your way.

    Hai nick. Nice video. What is difference between clay bar n clay block and it's effectiveness for perfection

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shaukat, good question. The clay block is essentially a synthetic clay bar. One of its biggest selling points is its longevity and the fact that when dropped, the Clay Block does not need to be discarded. You can simply wash it and keep using it! It is important to note that the Clay Block comes in one grade only, whereas the Clay Bar comes in four different densities. The Clay Block is great for medium to light contamination, but if your car as anything more, then we recommend using the clay bar as there are hard options that provide for this. Thanks for watching Shaukat, and thanks for being a part of the Chemical Guys family!

      Hi Giannis, VSS is considered a one step polish, it contains micro abrasives that break down into a fine polish. The abrasiveness of this product is somewhere between V34 and V36. VSS takes longer to break down because of the nature of the product. Stay tuned Giannis, more great videos are coming your way.

    Does the V Line polish have any filler/wax in it?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Aaron, the V Series of polishes doesn't contain either of those, these polishes are actually body shop safe. The only polish we have that contains any additional product is V4 which has a sealant blended into the formula. The V line is designed to remove scratches and refine the clear coat, nothing else.

    What's the speed when you start and after the change ?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Omar, thanks for watching this great video. When you start spreading the polish, you use the first speed setting because you're not ready to start polishing. After you've spread the polish out, you set the speed setting to the maximum speed on a dual action polisher, or you set it to speed setting 3 or 4 on a rotary. Since what you see in the video is a dual action polisher, you set it to the maximum speed setting. You don't set a rotary polisher to the max setting because rotary polishers don't have a built in safety mechanism, and can burn the paint if you're not careful. Stay tuned Omar, more great videos are coming your way.

    What’s the difference between a wax and a sealant, and which one is better long term

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sid, I hope you had a great weekend. Waxes are natural substances that refined to give you what comes out of the bottle. Waxes shine and protect, however they don't last as long because it contains an organic substance. Sealants on the other hand are synthetic substances, they are designed to mimic the protective properties of wax through the utilization of nano polymers in long chains. Waxes can last up to three months in the most ideal conditions, where as sealants can last from 6-12 months with regular washing. People pair the two together because carnauba wax creates a really beautiful shine, and sealants offer up long term protection. Most paint sealants don't produce a high shine unless they're blended with gloss enhancers, or a wax like Extreme Top Coat. Stay tuned for more great videos coming your way!

      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi buddy, you would have to compound the glass with a polisher. Repairing minor scratches in the glass is like removing scratches from clear coat, except glass is harder to cut through.

    I’ve never polished before, do you have to have the machine in order to use the compound ?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Briceson, you will definitely need a polisher to accomplish an accurate and even polishing job. Polishing by hand is a time consuming process that will leave you with varied results, and a sore hand and arm. The TORQX is probably what you will want to go with, it's small, light, and it's perfect for someone who has never polished before. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us. Stay tuned buddy, more great videos are coming your way.

    How long should you polish in one spot?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Christian, thanks for stopping by and checking out our video. You want to take your time, moving slowly across the paint spending about a few seconds of every square inch. You'll want to do at least two passes in either direction moving in straight lines. If you were working with a rotary polisher, I would tell you not to sit in one place for too long because rotary polishers can burn paint of you're not careful. Polishing can be a test of patience, it's not a race. Stay tuned Christian, we've got more great videos coming your way.

      Hi! Don't be so scared! You have to start somewhere, and you're in the right place! Keep watching our TH-cam videos to learn the proper polishing technique and other tips and tricks. If you haven't already, pick up a Dual Action Polisher like the TORQX or TORQ10FX. Dual action polishers are perfect for beginners because, unlike rotaries, they have safety features built in that make it harder for you to damage/burn your paint. With Chemical Guys knowledge under your belt, a DA polisher, and premium Chemical Guys chemicals and pads, you're on the path to success. You can always contact us as well if you ever have any questions during your learning process! We are available to be reached by phone, email, or even Facebook messenger!
