This is the shit, not your Tinchy Stryder crap. This is real music for real men.... and of course women who like real men. :-). For all those about to rock, Lord's, Roger, Pete, John and Keith, we most humbly salute you. Amen.
Yes mate I do know that 'Keith' was dead and that 'Kenny' took the mantle. My comments were aimed at the original line up though because that's what we all know and love as the real core four guys who made the band. Kenny did a great job for 'The Who' just as he did for 'The Faces' and 'The Small Faces' but, Keith Moon is a legendary drummer. So no worries you haven't ruined my mood mate. Have a Happy New Year:-).
never get's old... this fired me up in 1984 for Marine Corps boot camp..... and now in 2014 I'm up late writing content to make money in my sleep... with the creative juices flowing thanks to "Pete".... and that beat.... "forget your hidin"... love it... !
The Who have been a part of me since 1976 - my first live gig was, and this is the best gig EVER. This iS a TRUE MY STORY. ABOUT 100 true WHO Fans and Supporters were chosen, picked-up at Hyde Park Corner, and taken, very nervously to Shepperton Studios at Elstree, then owned by The Who. During the 1-hour coach journey, we were told that the band had to record 3 songs for the film, The Kids Are Alright. As this was exciting, most of us had no idea how it set up, we didn't care. Thought there would be many more people. When we got there, there were people only from our coach, the place would be able accommodate about 200 people, at most. There were professional video-recording cameras, approx. 10 strategically placed around the studio/'arena'. Then The Who came on, Pete didn't look happy AT ALL. Anyway, they played 'Who Are You', snf and was NOT good. And off they went. The song was recorded. They came back, Pete now very cheesed-off, recorded it and then Pete had enough of this, he pointed the cameraman, saying "We are here for them, NOT YOU. What followed was truly amazing, excellent, and 'mind-blowing' - they were now at the peak, with Pete turning up the volume to maximum. WE WERE RIGHT IN FRONT, COULD TOUCH THE STAGE, AND THE BAND WERE AT BEST ONLY ABOUT 15-20 FEET (NOT YARDS, METRES, ETC. AND VERY NERVOUS!! THEY PLAYED FOR AT LEAST 2-HOURS, KEITH WAS AT HIS BEST, ROGER AND JOHN WERE AT THEIR BEST - AND PETE WAS IN A VERY SPECIAL PLACE, AND FOR US, AMAZING DOES NOT DESCRIBE HIS MOOD. And Rabbit 🐰 was there as his usual best, and there was another lady percussionist, and was brilliant. They started-off with Substitute, and went ahead continuously for about 2 hours. No breaks. IT WAS THE BEST THE WHO GIG I HAD THE PRIVILEDGE TO BE THERE - SO FEW OF US, 'HYPNOTISED' (as in Won't FOOLED AGAIN). UNFORTUNATELY, IT HAD TO CONCLUDE AT SOME POINT. They went off with our clapping, whistles, etc., and came back to record Magic Bus, and best ever live Won't Get Fooled Again, the lasers surrounding Roger, BUT at ending, just before Roger's fabulous and very special Rock ending after Rabbit had completed his piano/keyboard bit of the song (2-3 SECONDS, AT BEST), SOME IDIOT from the council had noticed a BIT OF ONE OF THE LASERS HAD, AT A VERY LOW, INSIGNIFICANT (IMHO) LEVEL, AND INSISTED THAT THE LASERS ARE COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF - SAID HE HAD TOLD MANAGEMENT OF THE LAW, ETC., THERE WAS NO CHOICE - OFF THEY WENT. The last laugh was with The Who - it was A PERFECT RECORDING of Won't Get Fooled Again, as those of you who have seen the film will confirm. Pete had climbed on to the massive speakers, and as Roger started his special 'scream', Pete jumped off, slid across the stage, while still playing the guitar perfectly. But it had to come up the end, Keith kicked his drums 'out of his way' and all of them came together 'TO THANK US' - we were deafened, elated, and we had to find a loo. To my surprise and 'shock', Roger came in, stood next to me for a pee - it took me a few minutes to get started!! Left speechless, he completed before me, he had said, 'Hi' and I acknowledged it, complimented the whole gig, and thanked him for "an excellent experience" - NO OTHER WORDS CAME INTO, BY NOW NUMB, BRAIN - HOW EMBARRASSING! IN CONCLUSION, THE EXPERIENCE WAS FANTASTIC. HAVE BEEN A MEGA PART OF MY LIFE, ALBEIT VERY POSITIVELY AND VERY SIGNIFICANTLY TO ME, BUT I HAVE ONE REGRET, THEY WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH!! 🤣
I saw this tour in Biloxi, MS, in December of 82. Changed my life. Townsend's fingers were bleeding on his fretboard during there last sing. Rick and roll at its best.
I don't think Roger is playing his guitar. Meanwhile, Pere sings lead and plays 2 to 3 guitar parts simultaneously. Wow. This band should be held in a much higher esteem in history.
Saw them in ‘80 and 2002. Brilliant both times. They are better with Starkey on drums than Jones. Moon was the best. They still sound great. Check out their performance last year in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Townshend is amazing and still plays with tons of energy.
I went to a The Who's Fairwell to North America concert party and saw the Toronto concert on TV when either cable was just invented or we had to pay for some special service. The show turned out to be the beginning of 34 more years. I think John and Keith's absence helped mend fences between Pete and Roger.

Wahoo Gonzales That happens sometimes!I also forgot them for a while, and now I discover them for the second time!!
Denise Dillon , I am afraid that will happen to me, for my b day I got great speakers, I can turn up the volume really loud ,vibrating bass , glad I don't live3 in an apt,
Just saw them in S.C. last night. They can both still sing their asses off. Very impressive, especially at 67 and 68 years old.
Badass song. Definitely my favorite Who son!
Is it? Wow...Well do you have any Who daughters?
Rain Storm Nope. What is your favorite Who song?
I like pretty much all their songs. I don't know, actually, it's hard to pinpoint just one favorite, they have some pretty good songs, so I'm pretty indecisive about my all-time favorite. Have you listened to Be Lucky yet, btw?
Rain Storm lol...nieces and aunts too...
Love this tune truckin music
This song in the beginning....that bass....it grabs you by the throat and just WILL NOT let.go!
This is the shit, not your Tinchy Stryder crap. This is real music for real men.... and of course women who like real men. :-).
For all those about to rock, Lord's, Roger, Pete, John and Keith, we most humbly salute you. Amen.
Wait...did you take "This is the shit" from Keith Richards? If so, great!!
LMA UK Sorry for ruin your mood. But Keith (d. '78) was dead in 1982. This is Kenney Jones.
I am not a man yet btw I started listening to the Who since I was 9 years old
@@powerslave0606 yes
My spirit is jumping out of me, amazing
You can tell it's a good song if it's used in a commercial over 30 years later.
+James Last The GMC Trucks commercial
+James Last You know it's a good song when it's a good song.
+James Last
You can tell it's a good song if it's part of the GTA radio ;)
They also use Baba O'Riley in commercials.
u got that right😄
The who are an amazing band. When they finish they will be sadly missed. When they toured in Birmingham it was amazing.
ONE OF ROCK"S BEST EFFORT'S IN MY WORLD !!!!
The DRUM selection put me in a trance! This is my NEW MANTRA ! My God this song is everything 🤘🏾👂🏾👏🏾👊🏾✌🏾😎
Pete is the man. Great guitarist AND vocalist.
The WHO are a GOAT!!!! Greatest of all time!!!!!
Always loved this tune
What a rhythm train the drummer is engineering, and the rest of the train follows, love it
I cant imagine how fine it would be to produce and play that awesome of music!!! The eighties were great!!
never get's old... this fired me up in 1984 for Marine Corps boot camp..... and now in 2014 I'm up late writing content to make money in my sleep... with the creative juices flowing thanks to "Pete".... and that beat.... "forget your hidin"... love it... !
these guys! seriously, these fucking guys! only time Ive noticed a bass player. they're that good
I seen them in concert. Absolutely fabulous
Thank you, that was a great flashback . . . love the "live" stuff
My favorite WHO song. Saw them with SRV at the Astrodome mid 80's. Even rode with Randy Quaid handing out Budweiser. Fun
real music
sufficient to the day, is the evil thereof.
Had a chance to see these guys at Cobo Hall in 1976 for $6. I was a wimpy kid back then and didn't go.
I was there and wimpy too but I made it....
Imo one of three great rock songs
If this was at Shea Stadium I was there... I was 15 there was a digital counter I remember it was somewhere around 67,000 people
I saw this tour in Biloxi, MS, in December of 82. Changed my life. Townsend's fingers were bleeding on his fretboard during there last sing. Rick and roll at its best.
One of my favourite's 😊
I don't think Roger is playing his guitar. Meanwhile, Pere sings lead and plays 2 to 3 guitar parts simultaneously. Wow. This band should be held in a much higher esteem in history.
That's one wild drum set-up! Should have gone to see these guys when I had the chance.
Just seen them in Philly a week ago. My first real concert and it made me a fan of The Who. They are still great
Watch some footage before Keith Moon passes away, incredible drummer and a brilliant set up.
Saw them in ‘80 and 2002. Brilliant both times. They are better with Starkey on drums than Jones. Moon was the best. They still sound great. Check out their performance last year in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Townshend is amazing and still plays with tons of energy.
His playing in Substitute still blows me away too, never heard a man manipulate a bass like John could.
The bass is just friggen SICK in this live version. It makes me want to put down the Strat and pick up the bass. Too damn cool!
Well that's John Entwistle. Best bass player ever behind Chris Squire
Outside Lands 2017 🤘🏿☺️🤘🏿, heard it for first time n loved it! Song slaps!!!!
perfect.
Townshend's such a Great guitarist. Perfectly placed notes. No fluff.
long live rock
I went to a The Who's Fairwell to North America concert party and saw the Toronto concert on TV when either cable was just invented or we had to pay for some special service.
The show turned out to be the beginning of 34 more years.
I think John and Keith's absence helped mend fences between Pete and Roger.
Rock on... very few seem to know and appreciate Townsend, Daltry, and the rest... thank you genuinely for posting this😊
I love to watch that dude John play the bass. He is magnificent.
PETE TOWNSEND AND DALTRY. ONE OF THE GREAT ROCK SONGS EVER.
