I watched both BP and Magpie. Depended on what the subject matter was. I can remember that comment about Marc Bolan. Both much better than today's children's TV. Better than one or two adult shows.
Generally, all and every 1970's Children's TV was proper full-bodied TV!! Heres some shows I can remember...can you? Blue Peter, The Tommorrow People, How, Jackanory, The Adventures of Black Beauty, Champion The Wonder Horse, Animal Magic, Grange Hill, Fingerbobs, Worzel Gummige, Follyfoot, CrackerJack, Vision On, Catweazle, Carries War, Rent-a-Ghost, Bagpuss, John Cravens Newsround, and Ask Aspel. The Sooty Show and Tiswas also pop in there lol...and Kizzy also Why Dont You? (Doris) and On The Move. Also I remember Here Come The Double Deckers, Hectors House, Play Away, Rainbow (with Jeffrey, Bungle and Zippy...unforgettable) Also, How We Used To Live, Lizzie Dripping and Cheggers Plays Pop!
What joy I had after 51yrs, to watch this episode with the ploughing match with Mick's first time. I was lucky enough to know the to shire's. Wanted to see them again. So happy now 😄.
"Magpie was working class... It also had Jenny Hanley." That's Jenny Hanley, RP-accented granddaughter of a royal photographer and sister of a Tory MP, right?
I had that Konnie Huq in the back of my Uber the other week. Now, when I say ‘had’ I am not talking here in the biblical sense, although ‘coffee’ was mentioned … 🧔🏼♂️
I had that Lesley Judd in the back of my Uber the other week. Now, when I say ‘had’ I am not talking here in the biblical sense, although ‘coffee’ was mentioned … 🧔🏼♂️
Hope Terry Cooper never signed anything in re of his football trainer's as the huge sportswear companies (organised criminality ) would completely rip it and him off.. as what happened to Liverpool legend Craig Johnson with his very early 'predator' style boot he was completely conned and lost everything trying to challenge them in court. ** By the way Mick don't give up the day job in re your football skills. ...did you actually score here?
8:00 proper kids TV not terrified of talking about real thing's or using real English word's and phrases re of whether or not some might have found them offensive(just like the precious trans/deviant/woke freaks of today)
Take me back. Please!!
Mick Robertson was so likeable like a favourite teacher
72 was a great year for us young kids, musically, with the likes of Slade, visionary with these guys on magpie, and lots of other classic 70's action.
I remember that episode... specifically because it was my 10th birthday on that day !
Yes I remember this episode too. Wow ! Happier times
I wouldn't know as I was just two and in the pushchair back then!
Wonderful, wonderful times.
Wow..takes me back watching this as a kid..such childhood memories
50 flippin years ago, I can't believe it
Scary.
I would have been just two and in the pushchair at the time! Too young to understand or remember that period.
Loved this. Bring it back😊
Funny to watch this, and remember hearing these words, and to think it was fifty one years ago.

Brilliant to see full eps of Magpie, thank you!
Loved the make-your-own Magpie studio in the kids' Look-In TV magazine, still have it.
Ah when all we had to concern ourselves with was what to watch on tv. I remember back then it was What’s your favorite Magpie or Blue Peter?
A time I want to return to.
I used to watch it, but still preferred Blue Peter, but it was ok 😀
I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Susan Stranks!
RIP Tony Bastable
State of the Art compact Camera lol . how far we have come ,
I was in love with Susan Stranks … ❤
How many Stranks did u have over her?
@@StevieZero Your euphemistic pun is mildly amusing. Anything of equal or better wit regarding Jan Francis or Selina Scott?
@@StevieZero I actually stranked myself to a state of nervous exhaustion!
I was waiting for Terry Cooper to foul Mick Robertson, with him being a Leeds United player!!
Wow, I never knew Brian May was a presenter on Magpie 🤣
AYE I USED TO THINK IT WAS BRIAN MAY AS WELL WONDER IF HE CAN PLAY GUITAR LIKE HIM!!!!!
More like Marc bolan
Or Leo ‘short house’ Sayer … 😺
Used to think Tony Bastable was God when i was a kid. BRILLIANT presenter
1972 when the UK was actually British
Brill programme, loved it
Tony Bastable! Mind over Matter! Went onto do grown up telly, and he is slick or wot.
He just seemed so capable of taking any material and actually *presenting* it to you. Still missed.

Used to live ve this as a child, but very shocked by the sexism from Mick at the ploughing comp given that it was seen as such a modern programme
Those "Football Shoes" are about as much use as Anne Frank's drumkit 🤣😂
Love those early Go Pros.
Always thought Mick Robertson was the guitarist in Queen when I was a kid.
Poor man's Blue Peter..............but very interesting thanks for posting
Magpie was good but it was always catch-up with Blue Peter.
Nah. Magpie was working class and Blue Peter was middle class. I always preferred magpie. It also had Jenny Hanley.
"Magpie was working class... It also had Jenny Hanley."

@WDYT lol. Well...I guess Jenny wasn't working class, but ITV shows had a different vibe to the BBC.

Susan Stranks was a babe
So, you enjoyed Paperplay too?
Why, was she a mere infant in the pram?
love this show, I always prefered it to Blue Peter. it always seemed a bit more grounded.
Is that Brian May before he joined Queen?
It's odd how this stuff gets around. I've just seen the exact same episode on a tape I bought from ebay.
21:37 Possibly the first Steadi-Cams? 😆
Susan Stranks was fine but she wasn't Jenny Hanley was she? 😍
Susan was my dream girl in those days. It's whatever turns you on.
Had a crush on Mick, I was only 7.
Mick Robertson there. Looks like Marc Bolan, they said. Yeah, but only after the crash...
Just made our 16 year old watch this…we got NOTHING,
A sort of itv version of 'Blue Peter' ?
I was 5 when this aired, where did the time go?
This show was a million times better than Blue Peter.
Brian May's day job
What ever happened to mick and the others
I had that Lesley Judd in the back of my Uber the other week. Now, when I say ‘had’ I am not talking here in the biblical sense, although ‘coffee’ was mentioned … 🧔🏼♂️
I fort it was Brian May
The Stranks peek of cleavage … I had to up my heart medication and take a long lie down in a darkened room …

Horrible farm man making nasty comments on those trying to do their best. All did well.

MICK ROBERTSON LOOKS MORE LIKE BRIAN MAY FROM QUEEN
Where is Jenny
Jenny presented from 1974-80. This is from 1972.
