How, Blue Peter, Magpie, Vision On, Animal Magic, tons of cartoons and the odd Open University programme taught me everything I needed to know. And that one day I would grow up to be a highly successful..... big kid
This was not always the case. We use to buy veal ham and egg pie (Gala Pie) from a butcher who made his own. You'd sometimes get a slice with the rounded smaller ends of the egg sometimes with no yolk at all 😔. I guess this process was for larger commercial outlets and super market provision counters.
I think what you're describing here is technological advancement. At one time we were NOT able to land a man on the moon. And perhaps more importantly, there was a time when gala pies did NOT have a continuous egg running through them.
I heard some chef talking about this a couple of years ago he said casing is I fact sausage skins - a cylinder shaped one for the yolk and a ring shape for the white

Proper children's television. Fred Dinenage & Jack Hargreaves; absolute legends.
how
Thank you for this. This was one of my favourite ITV programs growing up!
The greatest countdown presenter they never had
Rumour has it they spoke to him but he turned it down.

Wonderful programme. Loved Jack Hargreaves (and his 'Out Of Town' programme) Fred, Jon Miller and Bunty James. Fabulously educational and fun.
Super upload ... I loved this show when I was a kid .. Fred is still god! .. TY!
Utterly lovely! Fabulous TV. Playful and informative.
What a pity 50 years later, everything is “dumbed down “ to suit the lowest common denominator.
How very true.
PLUS the ever-present risk of offending someone! Somewhere! Over something! Which doesn't exist! Progress, eh?
how interestomg.
There is only one word for Fred Legend
Happy 80th birthday 🎂🎉🍾🥳 Fred Dineage
wow - the legend Fred Dinenage now age 77 and still hosting ITV Meridean News
ikr. But I only watch it for weathergirl, Holly Green. She sends my heart into the flutter, every time.

The true glory of How, we now realise, was Jack smoking his pipe all the way through it.
Jack lived in our village. Often seen in the pub.

I do wish their put these shows on dvd.
Fred bore a passing resemblance to my (crazy, fun) uncle - for years I thought they were both the coolest dudes on the Planet. AND I WAS RIGHT!
That's cool
Also at that time Fred hosted the pontoon based quiz Gambit.
Did Jimmy Tarbuck host that show after...Jesus I'm getting old..stop I don't like it.
@@copee2960 No the late Tom O Connor replaced Fred as the host of Gambit.
this is my first ever memory
the days of "Magpie", "How" and intellligent broadcasting aimed at younger people are long behind us. Thats why we have "love island" today.
Well said ! 🔝
Don't recall seeing Love Island on CITV but there we are
@@chloejones1548 Give it time, and it will be 'Trans Love Island' on CITV.
This is the best clip I've seen all week.
Damn it Fred I've missed you.

She looks fascinated by that egg bit phallic.

Loved this series as a kid. Actually taught kids stuff rather than what followed which was an era of gunge and more gunge and nothing intelligent.
