I love how close Boll plays to the table. Such an in your face style! One of my fav players to watch. I developed a similar style since I grew up playing TT in a small room :)
At 8:00, as Zhang Jike recalled after the match, "That rally caused my waist to go numb for a moment. I didn't dare to make big movements from that point on and was playing in a more conservative way which allowed Boll to catch up with me to 3:3." Note: Zhang Jike's waist was injured in the training before coming to the tournament and he took steroid injection on the injured site which has worn off even before he came to Germany.
You’re all talking about the amount of mistakes, this WC the ball had just been changed and no one was used to it, you see they hit a lot of the balls with the edge. This is because plastic ball bounces higher.
Jike should learn to play more close with table in order to come into world level like Timo Boll does now. I want jike to come back if he has no injury.
Jike was difficult to play against Timo. Because Timo Boll plays perfectly close to the table. He lost only because they did not have enough speed and reaction.
3:14 Come on ZJK! Usually he's amazing at catching up after being way down (for example, 7-10 against Wang Hao, 6-10 against Ma Long, 5-10 against Chuang Chih-Yuan)
Maybe. Sidenote: Zhang Jike isn't the only one who saved a 6-10 versus Ma Long. Click READ MORE to find out who played and what the result was. Here are the spoilers: Three people, all Chinese, saved a 6-10 against Ma Long. Chen Qi was one of the three, saving a 6-10 in the seventh set. However, after making a deuce Ma Long won the next two points to win 12-10. Zhang Jike was another one (of course). After the score was leveled (in the 7th game), Ma Long got two more matchpoints that Zhang Jike saved: 12-12. Then Zhang Jike got a matchpoint of his own, but Ma Long saved it (it was also a very good point). Then, Ma Long continued to win the next two points: 15-13. Xu Xin was the last of the three. He was down 2-0 in sets, but he won the third one after being down 10-6 (I think he actually won it 12-10). However, Ma Long won the next set (it was a 3 out of 5 match). So... it seems that nobody actually BEAT Ma Long.
Why do i feel that was Boll's last chance to beat one of the best Chinese? For much of the match Zhang didn't play well, and he was ripe for the taking. I hope I'm wrong but I don't see Boll as another Walder or Samsonov, capable of pulling out some spectacular wins in his late thirties. He's nice to watch, plays some subtle often brilliant shots. But fundamentally he lacks power. As for the way he hits his forehand.........I can just see better technique in Zhang and Ma Long. If only Walder was 20 years younger!
@. Actually thats just so wrong. Watch interviews of him. He constantly says that he changed his playstyle cuz hes not as fit as he used to be and thus adapted his play not to be focused around his athletic abilities.
He had to get to his late 30's to start exploring other ways of constructing a point besides slow looping. In his prime he couldn't block or push at all. That's why his game was easily dismantled by the Chinese.
@@dickn.ormous1064 agreed, just look how helpless he looked against Waldner and Oh Sang Eun at the olympics. today, he doesn't have the consistency, speed and footwork he had when he was younger, but now he's playing much smarter with more experience :)
@Lonestar Papa 3 years later??that long??nothing special winning once every 3 years..thats the problem with tt players and fans..beat the chinese one or two occasion they act like they are the best player in the world and said stupid things like downfall of china..pfft..you need to beat them consistently and afaik..no one has done that yet
+Denzel Urieta no meaning but I believe it derives from the Chinese term hao qiu meaning good ball so qiu lei is just to pump the players up and to release stress

Great game. I love the way Timo gives the opponent the 'finger' after a net, error, or just a great shot from himself!
the stronger the opponents are, the more aggressive Zhang Ji Ke will play. that should be the characteristic of all Top player.
What a match ! And it's will be a dream final Zhang Jike-Ma Long

He is very down too.
Eric Lindh of Sweden was even closer.
3:03 breaking ankles in table tennis
That was a weird shot. Looked like a chop/push but almost looked like it had top spin

Great Game of both, Thanks for uploading !
Both players at their best. Thanks for sharing.
awesome match!!!
an german moderator is moderate in english, this accent is brilliant.
that game was epic!

I want to see this Boll :(
Timo really is in top shape, at 33! That third set was so sad, almost had ZHJ there.
It would have been sad for Zhang Jike if he hadn't won the third set. Timo had many net balls in this set
Jike was difficult to play against Timo. Because Timo Boll plays perfectly close to the table.

Видно Тимо был на пике своей формы. Одолел Овчарова, но досадно отдал 2 своих сета Жан Жике, ведя в обоих 6:2... А мог играть в финале..
What's that "speed" in the beginning ?
3:14 Come on ZJK! Usually he's amazing at catching up after being way down (for example, 7-10 against Wang Hao, 6-10 against Ma Long, 5-10 against Chuang Chih-Yuan)

Hot damn if this wasn't a great match
It would have been hilarious if timo won!
Is Timo Boll still using the TB ZLC blade? what rubbers?
Timo Boll plays with TB ALC and Tenergy 05 on both sides. This is well-known fact.
I'm not arguing the "well-known fact". I was simply asking. Just wondering why he preferred it than the ZLC.

Zhe Feng not really, he played well against Jun Mizutani too
記得一年多前,Boll 打 Ovtcharov 還打不贏,今年竟然直落4 ~,打水谷隼也能順利克服困難。

What do chinese players say when they win a point? Ore? Something like that?
They say "Chule"
+Kiritou cho lei
+shea kiely which means?

Its almost impossible to beat Chinese
I don't understand; isn't this the world cup? Why are they making the basic mistakes? I was waiting something full of mlg shots and amazing rallys
this is right after ball change at this point no one really knows how to play with this ball
Boll is a legend..
Zhang is just another chinese player
Half true, Boll is a legend but Zhang Jike is the 2nd GOAT
So why Timo Boll is a legend and Zhang Jike not? Just because of his nationality? :D
@mj y im living in Europe but Zhang JIke is my favourite player :)
Yeah, just another chinese player that won the GRAND SLAM!!
Boll is a good player
Dima is another german player
zjk achieved much more than boll even his career is much shorter
👍👍
Boll suck but zheng rock
very bad game
