I was trying with #4 cotton but is not meeting gauge. If I go up a hook size the stitches will be too loose. I should probably stick with acrylic do you think?❤
I don’t know. The brim took me a lot of time to figure out and it’s a muddled mess of math in my head at this point. You will just need to increase less and hope for the best. Lol!
@steph3878 Yes, I just did single crochet all around with a couple of rows with I creases. I follow one of Crystal #bagoday crochet on #youtube #crochetbuckethat tutorials to make the brim..✨️ 💫 ✨️
I using cotton yarn size 4 and my measurement is coming out 5 inches from corner to corner instead of 6 1/2 inches. So should I go up a hook size? What size hook do you suggest?
Yes you definitely need to go up. I would think maybe to a 6.0 or even 6.5 mm hook. I would say the 6.5 mm because you are off by 1.5 inches. I’m sorry!
Well I I tried the 6.5 it still wasn’t big enough. So I used 7.0 and that’s still not big enough. It measured 6 inches. So I guess I’ll go up a half size bigger. I’m afraid the stitches will have big holes.
@@debrarol are you measuring it from corner to corner? Also I do sort of stretch it slightly to get it to lay flat. If your holes are big than I don’t see how your stitches are not as well🤔
@@debrarol maybe try to reach the gauge I use for a similar project and see if there’s such a huge difference: 14 dc and 6.5 rows = 4" I use the same yarn and hook for that project so maybe it can shed some light on the issue
@debrarol I have the same issue! How did you solve your problem? I think I will frog my hat, try a 6.5 hook then if it's still smaller I'll just add another round or 2 of row 4.
I give the measurements in the description box below the video but I also explain how to modify it to fit your needs. You would basically repeat round 6 until it got to about the middle of your ears and then you would start the brim. You can also widen the brim easily to your preference. Very easy!
@@DaysCrochet oh, ok. I was asking about the circumference of the body of the hat, not the heighth. I will go back. Maybe I missed something...old age lol!

Maybe try it in acrylic first and see how it fits before making one in cotton
I love this hat but its HUGE on my head. All my measurements were right. I have a small head. How can I make it to fit a little more snug?
Use a smaller hook size
What would the stitch count be if I don't want the brim so wavey. Thank you...♥️🧶♥️

@@DaysCrochet 👌🏻OK... thanks 😊
@@CharlieCharles1225did you figure out a way to make the brim not so wavy? I am planning on doing that as well.

Would cotton yarn work (like peaches n cream)?
It should, yes!
I was just thinking of making a summer hat and this is perfect!! What size head is it for? My head is 23" around.
