Great reaction. Love how INTO it you get. You're so excited to see people goin' for it. Something that's worth checking out is that Ian Paice actually did his own reaction to this on the Deep Purple channel. He definitely enjoyed it, and gives some nice insight.
I saw deep purple in Christchurch , NZ in 2005 or 06, and watching Ian Paice I knew I was in the presence of greatness. Whatever " It " is ,he had it .
They let them listen to the drum free track as much as they want & do as many takes as needed. I love when the people just get into it as they relax & trust their instinct.
2 things - Tosh said in another video he got the advice to keep his hats high to save him potential back problems and.....the foo fighters will be fine with josh behind the kit. nice video mate
I think that some of these drummers, especially the younger ones are imagining that they could somehow play exactly the original track rather than imagining that they are sitting in a fresh track session
@@MusicShed what this TH-cam video show me is just how important any good drummer is in highlighting and expressing and communicating. It’s actually showing something vital and spontaneous in the creation of music. It just happens to be over at track that many people are familiar with. Good drummers can jam and supportwhatever it is that’s going on with the rest of the band. The only thing missing from these is that the band doesn’t have the benefit of hearing the drummer they’re listening to the original drummer
I’m not a drummer but I went to school with a lot of people doing African drumming especially West African and Zimbabwe and they learned through mentorship and learning how to listen to each other. What’s impressive is people being able to play with a band that is stuck in time in a recording that they’ve never heard before I highly recommend that you react to the video with Chad Smith and Gregg Bissonette mentoring Nandi Buchel (if you haven’t already and I missed it)
Love your videos and love Drumeo as much as you. You work with kids so I think it would be awesome to see you review Nandi Bushell’s take on Twisted Sister.
1000% on your comments about him "doing nothing wrong". I am always a little surprised at some of the drummers they have on Drumeo who say that (Juilliard jazz drumming is another recent one). I can't help but wonder if they actually mean the words they are saying or if it's kind of just a representation of their own nervousness. On the flipside, then there's Chad Smith who starts drumming along on the first take after 30 seconds of listening and when asked if he wants another take, replies "Another? No! I f***ing NAILED it!" :)
It’s one thing for Chad Smith to talk with joking ego but a lot of these younger drummers are getting good because they are raining in their ego. You have to be able to be humble in order to learn new things and improve
He obviously knew the song...you can't stop playing in the right moments if you haven't heard the tune before...not even Buddy R. or Billy Cobham could do that.
I don't think you've been viewing this series. There's a lot of videos on their channel where drummers literally don't know the songs or the artist and go in blind. They get as many takes as they want and come up with a rendition of their own. Instead of hating just go and watch a few of the videos!
He plays drums like he watched the Muppets as a kid, saw Animal and went "That's what I wanna be when I grow up!" and then did it lol
He actually said in another video that he copied Animal from the Muppets when he was like 3 I think
I’m really appreciating how this series of drum challenges is introducing me to a lot of really skillful new musicians
Your commentary is actually good, i appreciate your insight. Its nice to hear a musician react cause you understand the intracacies. Bless
His enthusiasm is contagious! Well worth the visit Thx

Very interesting, another great drummer with a lot of sensitivity and ear for an excellent result

The session drummers and pro sidemen in this Drumeo series really show why they earn the big bucks. They come in with so much focus and enthusiasm.

Which is impossible. It’s their instincts and ears that matter

Just before you mentioned Bonzo and Moon, I was thinking he really mirrors their energy.

Another one drumer that did it is eloy Casagrande. Another favorite of mine is domino santoantonio
I think he does that with the hi hat to help his back later on in life as advised by a drummer not sure tho

You should be transcribing into notes or tabs where possible, on the screen.
The Benefit of Mr. Kite
Mr Rogers Neighborhood
10 bucks if u haven’t seen it before
You owe me

Totally untrue, his performance was genuinely 1st time. Are you a professional musician?
@@MusicShed how can you justify your sentence?
