As someone who used to work with radios and ground based navigational aids, specifically designed to help with take off and landing, your phone does literally nothing to a plane.
How did that start anyways???
Then why do we need to put our phones in airplane mode??? Is it a holdover from a time when early mobile phones did actually pose a hazard, unlike modern ones?
A major theory pointing to why the FAA and FCC have not removed their practically needless/obsolete ban on the usage of cell phones is a lack of pressure to do so from the airline industry, but not for the reason most would think. The going thoeory is that its the drama that comes with cell phone usage. For one example, nobody wants to get stuck next to some teenager who keeps arguing with their s/o on the phone while they're trying to sleep or just relax for hours on end. You've just gotten through the stress of getting through airport security, checking your bags, possible delays in your connections, or maybe even leaving loved ones before going away on business. After all that, do you really want to sit down for anywhere from 45 minutes to almost 18 hours in the air next to someone who refuses to stop jabbering on their cell phone? And thats just one, very minor example of cell phone related drama. Am I saying I agree with the ban? Hell no. Especially since 90% of the reasons on paper for the ban haven't been relevant for years thanks to advances in technology. But do I understand why airlines would just as soon wait for the FAA and FCC to end the ban on their own? Yeah kinda.

Funnily enough, Nagz, rice wine and sake are actually different. Outside of being made from rice, they're made through completely separate manufacturing processes. Sake would be more comparable to rice beer.

Sake is just the general word for alcohol in Japanese. Rice wine is actually called Soju in Japan and its the real word for it
I was gonna say, chat was having a go at Nagz and telling him rice wine and sake were the same thing, but I used to work at an asian foods store and we had a whole section of an aisle dedicated to rice wine and a separate section for sake so I was 99% sure that the two were different things even if they were made from similar ingredients. Plus rice wine is more typically used in cooking while sake is typically consumed as a drink on its own.
Man, when Sana finally caught it, it was hype af. That was such a wonderful moment to watch!

The Sana clip is quite good because while she's not afraid to get loud on stream, those happy banshee screams were by far the loudest she's gotten. She was so loud that the Discord call kept cutting her out, so Ina thought she'd just gone silent and something might have happened to her, that's why she was like "Are you good?"
Nina and Vox reacting to Mysta's food crimes might be my favorite Nijisanji clip so far...
The briefcase/backpack phones from the 80s used a radio bandwidth that interfered with pilot communications. That's why planes had dedicated hardline phones for people to use in the cabin that was on a known different frequency that the cockpit used.
I think I remember seeing the answer to it on the Discovery Ch, it’s because testing every new model of phone/tablet for potential interference would be unfeasible, so they do the airplane mode instead.

Interesting info. Kiara actually almost become stewardess after school, but in the end after she passed all interviews and was ready to go, they didnt take her because of her Fibromyalgia. She was very sad about it. But when you think about it, it was just another step to get her to hololive.

Gambling rule: only take what you want to lose.
If you win more than what you were willing to lose take what you started with and put in in your pocket and gamble with the winnings. Repeat if you win again.
Regarding the phones on airplanes, this varies a lot from one device to another. A ln electronics engineer felt skeptical, so he rented a small plane and flew up with a team that brought a variety of small electronic devices. Most devices made no noticable difference to the plane's instruments. A few did cause interference. One portable video game specifically kicked out so much interference that the plane was basically flying blind while it was turned on. Even two devices which are the same make and model can produce wildly different results. The only way to know if your specific device is going to be a problem is to test it in an electronics laboratory before you bring it on the plane. In other words, follow the dang rule, you crybabies.
11:45 as someone who worked on aircraft electronics, it depends on the plane. Cellphones can interfere with the various guidance and communication systems, but modern planes are build to minimize said interference, mainly by having relays in/out the plane so lower the signal strength required for phones to connect.

Also Sanas 738 tries are actually pretty lucky for shiny hunting legendaries - and the clip is significantly cut down from the actual event, with Ina constantly reminding Sana to breathe (it was also funny from Inas perspective, since discord auto-muted Sana)
Loved the gambling discussion and it's probably for the best that I can't relate, I only ever got into "gambling" in pokemon HG/SS which isn't even actually gambling (aka you can't lose your in-game money, I think that the earlier games caused controversy by encouraging gambling or something).

With my limited knowledge and goldfish memory, I remember that, airplane mode prevent your phone from interfering with the plane's landing system, as in the screen that show the information needed to land, it's been quite a while since I've seen it, so that's the best explanation I can give

I used to live 15 minutes from Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. On rare occasions me and a friend would go to the slots and race to lose $20 the fastest. The rules were just if at any time we double up, we stop and get dinner, otherwise the winner is the first person to lose all their money. It gets hilarious when you're like, "Shit!" When you win like $5 and everyone around you starts looking at you like a crazy person.

The trick to leaving the casino and not hating yourself afterwards is leaving when you've made good profit. Also, if you spend between 40-70% of the money you were using and haven't made much back, just take what you have left and spend it on food or something.

Back then, cell phone signaling used to highly interfere with radio signaling. The same can be said today. However, cell phone signals of this today don't interfere as much as they used too thanks to major advancements. But, 5g, 4g, and many other bands will interfere with equipment from departure to landing and anything else that could be filled into the black box for storage. That is why it is still called "static interference" but it is so quick that it's not a major issue.
HOWEVER!
Thanks to the wonderful advancements of technology and social media. Many people will be on there devices and stay on their devices long enough that will be fully unrecognize or disobey direct safety guidelines of commercial traffic fight. That's why you keep getting the "American Airlines was awful cause they yelled at me!" Despite the simple ask of the airline attendant only asking them to cut off there phone so they can pay attention to putting on a damn seatbelt(which they aren't wearing)cause they were too busy looking at..I don't know..some jewelry thingy on there device. And when yelled to do this simple task, they instead film it with the same device and put it online so then a commercial flight company(with many other problems worse than this simple thing) can in turn retell you about safety compliances and maybe end up firing a lawful and good employee who was just telling you about safety flight guidelines.
In easier words, put the device away. Put on your seatbelt. Stay put in the seat. Shut up during takeoff. And just follow the rules please. Thank you

Airplane mode was made because airline agencies want to err on the side of caution but researchers and the plane manufacturers tested and found phone signals have no effect on the planes electronics.

I'm still making my way through this playlist, but I hope by this point you've also seen the moment where Fubuki caught the Shiny Magikarp. Someone who's not me counted the number of on-stream Normal Magikarps and estimated the number of off-stream Normal Magikarps she caught before finally catching her Shiny. Now that's insane. (Both the number of attempts and that somebody did that.) Thankfully, she did manage to catch it on-stream so we get her live reaction, including her in the middle of automatically saying "It's red..." when she realized. Not to downplay Sana's dedication, but Fubuki's test of it seems pretty daunting in hindsight when you look at the numbers.

To my understanding, using signal can cause issues with communication between planes and air control in the same way that a wireless mouse can be interrupted if there’s an electronic device between the mouse and computer.
No idea if this is still the case, but I know that there are airlines that no longer require airplane mode be activated.
