    These are hands down, the BEST ANAMORPHIC SET I'VE EVER SEEN! They are sharp wide open, They open up to T2, and are made for not only Full Frame but Viltrox claims that it covers VistaVision sensors too like the ones from Red giving them excellent subject separation! That's the equivalent of 16mm at T1.3!
    No other lens even comes close except the Arri Master Prime 14mm t1.3 but since that is made for Super35 it's the equivalent of an 18mm f1.7, not to mention that lens is $40,000!!! And Isn't as sharp as this Viltrox Kit.
    I don't think people realize how amazing of a feat Viltrox pulled off here. Here's hoping that they let you try out the 30-300mm T4 they just announced. Knowing that it isn't ANAMORPHIC but you are one of the few creators that really showcased the Viltrox Cine Series well.

      We need speedbooster for this lens

      @@olleriefilmsLook at the Veloscura One, its a PL Speedbooster for E and RF Mount.
      They works well with PL Cine glass because the speedboosting element sits further back near the sensor giving ample room for the PL Rear protrusion on cine glass.
      They are planning to supports more mounts like L and FX so soon everyone will be able to rock Full Frame Cine glass to its fullest potential 😊

    I own the original set and they have paid for themselves within a year. They are stunning lenses and treat faces very well, clean with character and like you said can be used on commercial projects easily. Hope to pick up the 25 and 100 next year.

    I fundamentally do not understand the haters on these lenses. They have great optical performance, have a T2 aperture, and they work on on 16:9 sensors without having to crop (Sony people rejoice!)! But seriously, I feel like the only people complaining about these lenses are the ones who don't really use anamorphics. These have great characteristics, they don't slap you in the face with their distortions, the flares are well controlled for the price, they have huge sensor coverage, they have fantastic build quality, and they're less than $4k?!? Seriously people, what else do you want?? My only complaint is that they are white, but overall that's a very minor complaint.
    In your video you make a comparison to the cheap chinese anamorphics, but I think the real comparison is probably more in line with Atlas. As a commercial director, I'm very attracted to these over the Atlas, since they offer a great image but not overly distracting. They're "clean" for ananmorphics if that makes sense. If I were doing more narrative work, I'd probably lean more towards the Atlas' because they have a more traditional, almost vintage, anamorphic look that fits more in line with story telling.
    Love these lenses and only wish I could afford a set!

    1.33x is all you need for 16:9 sensors; that's a Cinemascope 2:4 ratio, which is just a little bit wider than my LG Ultrawide monitor (2560x1080p, which is 21:9 ratio), and TH-cam supports 21:9 ratio videos so no baked in black bars, which is better for viewing on smartphones. With 4K DCI you get a 2.52:1 ratio, which is which also the max 2.55:1 Cinemascope ratio.

    I actually prefer the 1.33x squeeze. I think Viltrox has gone down the right path with this set, making it sort of a bridge between normal cine lenses and the anamorphics we are used to.

    Hi, have you tried the pl to m4/3 speed booster? Is the quality almost like full frame?

  •  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hmm, idk ... they are amazing, i tried them, and they have their place since they are basically usable on every shoot... but that is also somehow a downside, since they barely have any character and just like other manufacturers the flares are basically only colored stripes, they look more annoying than interesting for me, flare like the ones of the vazen full frame, or altas, that brake up into more and have more movements that is what i really love ... but yeah they are still great lenses, don't get me wrong and the price is okay only the weight is a bit annoying so if Viltrox will make a carbon version with half theweight it would be amazing ^^

    Hi I have a question, can I mix in one video a 1.33x and 1.6x squeeze anamorphic lens?

    • @AnamorphicOnABudget
      @AnamorphicOnABudget  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can! You'll have to desqueeze them separately in the edit, and conform them so the timeline is all the same size!

    Super helpful video as always, really appreciate the breakdown. Were the motorbike shots filmed on the S1H or S5II? Did you try different stabilisation or just have everything turned off for these frames?

    • @AnamorphicOnABudget
      @AnamorphicOnABudget  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All of it was on the S5IIX. I had the stabilization configured wrong for the shots with the 25mm, but correctly for the 100mm.

    My issue with chinese made glass at this price point is the resell value.. they have none. One would be hard pressed to sell these at even half the price if they wanted to switch or grow. It's my opinion that under 2K IS the sweet spot for Chinese lenses. At 4K+ a pop, you're better served picking up a used set from Zeiss (for example) that you can later sell for the same price you purchased. PS I know Zeiss wouldn't be anamorphic, but I was just illustrating a point.
