    Just don't let the tires get low on air pressure! Big rubber hooks coming out of the wall will essentially do the same thing, but will be hooked on the rim so it won't fall over if the tires deflate over time.
    Love your vids man! To the point, easy to follow and creative.

      Thanks Steve! When the bikes fall off the rack that’s an early warning sign to pump up the tires:) we will see how it goes, may have to make an updated video with a handy little cable tie addition..,

    That's a very simple and elegant solution, but it wouldn't work in my narrow garage because it's not wide enough for both my car and the bike if it was sticking out that way. So what I did was I mounted a couple of simple metal shelf brackets and spaced them so that the bike is supported by the front and back parts of the frame. Then I slipped on a piece of a pool noodle over each bracket for protection. By taking the front wheel off, which I do already because I can slide it into the back of my car that way, when I store the bike the handlebar can be turned sideways so that even less of it sticks out, giving me a few more precious inches of space between the wall and my car.

    Relying on the friction fit of a pneumatic tire to hold it up? Not a great idea if the tires lose air and/or there's any shaking (we get plenty of mild earthquakes here in SoCal) which would jar the bike from it's place.

      Very fair point Mitch. I should figure out some type of a latch that offers some security but is still super easy to use.

      I’ve since come across a better notch shape so the bikes are less likely to slip out. Basically like a keyhole shape that was made with a hole saw and the sloping parts leading into about 2/3 of the circle.

    Nice 👍
    My concern is that with time and usage, the pressure fit may fail. Another option re those heavy duty rubberized metal hooks from HomeDepot, screw them into the 2x4 instead of curing the notch,pre drilling of course, and you’re set. That way the bike will rotate towards the wall and almost “lock” in place with the rubber wall friction.

    • @TheFunnyCarpenter
      @TheFunnyCarpenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Valid Concerns Richard, I left a bike in the prototype for 7 days and its wasn't showing any signs of slippage, but time will tell! As far as those hooks, we are coming off a stint using them in the wall for the last 4 years, everyone hated them and I ended up having to get the bikes off. Consequently no-one ever hung up their bikes and it was always a disaster!

      Pity that garages don’t have an extra spot to store bikes ... then again I’d probably fill it with junk anyway 😂

    Add a 3rd rail to catch the bottom tires?
