This is so great, thank you, GoEngineer!! I'm ordering composer now to pilot it on a new generation product, and I'm so glad to be integrated as a technical content creator with the product design /development phase. I'm going to be able to create the most comprehensive technical documentation ever in my 20-year career, while supporting technical and sales documentation requirements at the same time.
This is the best Composer animation video out there. Thank you so much. Your process of making components flash is great. I found another way; In the property window select Pulse under the Event property and chose 200ms. Add a property key to turn on and another to turn off.
This was great but I have questions. I am new to Composer. I do not have SolidWorks I only have Composer. After I make my anamation and save it my only option is .AVI. The file size is like 7.5Gb Unplayable. I'm thinking all the Meda data is attached. What can I do to make the file size smaller?
You can use Windows Movie Maker to create much smaller nicer looking .mp4 files. It takes multiple steps but the final video is well worth it. What you do is save the animation as multiple jpegs and then use WMM to create a video from them. I'll see if I can find some detail instructions or videos to share. Good Luck
Sad... I just got Solidworks 2016 and watched this video thinking I could do some awesome animation... Then I realized this isn't even included with Solidworks 2016 even though Composer shows up in the add-in tab. :(
Go to 'Uninstall', select the 'Change' button and then check the 'Solidworks Composer' checkbox. It may be included just not installed on your machine.
SOLIDWORKS Composer is not included in any of the SOLIDWORKS packages. It is a separate purchase itself so it if was not specifically purchased then it is highly likely that just installing it will still now allow it to work.

And by the way... Can I add text boxes in my animations that highlight, e.g. screwhead size, or tool requirements etc...?
