    Ive had my vitamix for a couple months now and ive learned that you need to add oil to raw almonds for it to be creamy or else it will be kinda gloppy. I either roast the almonds first or buy them roasted already because roasting brings out the natural oils you need to make it creamy. Roasted almonds shouldnt take more than a couple mins to make in the vitamix. Bit im glad ive purchased one. Changed my life!!

      adding any sort of liquid reduces the shelf life greatly.

    Great blend-off! I let my food processor cool off a couple times to as not to heat my raw almond butter. In addition, I rinse my almonds off before using. I vacuum seal the jars and refrigerate my nut butter. I've never had it in the fridge for over 3 weeks so can't say how long it will last. Ideally I'd say no more than 3 weeks if in a well sealed glass mason jar.

    Love my Vitamix. First thing I made in it was peanut butter but it wasn't raw; I bought some roasted salted peanuts from the store and found a recipe from a youtuber who added some oil to theirs and I did that. It turned out very creamy and it was okay. Have owned my Vitamix blender now for 4 years and I love making mixed berry and banana sherbert, smoothies, homemade pancake batter etc..I have the grinder attachment as well and love grinding spices and dried herbs for recipes. Great video and comparison. Thanks for sharing :-)

    Yes I did roast them and cool them first. I have been reading that I should use the dry container. I needed to purchase that and give it a try.

      Thanks Chris! NOOOOOO don't rethink getting a Vitamix I used the wrong temper, and really should not have been trying to do 3 things at once! I super love my vitamixer I used it everyday and have had for over 8 years at least! It's a great mixer!

    Hi Shelita. I just came across your site. Exactly what I need. I am soaking some raw almonds to make almond butter, so this is perfect timing. I was going to blend them in the Vitamix after soaking and draining, but another poster said they have to be dehydrated first. Were yours soaked and dehydrated? I guess it wont hurt to try but might have trouble with the moisture in them. Guess we'll see. Thanks for the great video.

    I just got my Vitamix in the mail today. I've been on here look up recipes and trying to learn from others...
    Were you able to make almond butter in the WET container? I know in HTIS video you used the dry container. but I only got the wet. So I'm curious as to what success you had with it.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Michael! Yes I did and it came out great!!!!!!!! just have to continuously use the temper (it's a workout) and you may have to turn it off a few times to let the blender cool but it came out great and was like 7 minutes compared to 25 or 30 in the food processor!

    Nice video, thanks. I'm very close to getting a Vitamix, so I'm checking lots of videos. I'm concerned, though, about that burning smell that you say you've had twice. I thought these machines were supposed to stand up to just about anything. And if I make almond butter, I think I will use the slivered or sliced almonds instead of the whole ones. It might be easier on the machine. Thanks again.

    I tried to my almond butter in my food processor and BROKE IT WOULD NOT SPIN after 12 minutes and my oster blender started to smoke?

    I see that you did not place the vitamix in high after a while, it could've been done faster :)

    • @ShelitaRN
      @ShelitaRN  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Marcio! Yeah this was just an experiment, but I have since learned how to do it much faster and creamier and I don't add anything, I still use the standard vitamix and it comes out great! Next time I will not try and do 2 things at once!

    Thanks for this informational post. I'm researching different food processors and blenders for a future purchase because I want to start making my own nut butters. I noticed you had a Cuisinart food processor in the video. Might I ask the model you were using? It looks like it's very efficient for homeade nut butter.

    • @ShelitaRN
      @ShelitaRN  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks Jamari! I've the 14 cup but I've had it for several years, but it still works great! you can't make a lot of nut butter because it's taxing on the motor but for occasionally it's superb! I actually prefer my vitamixer for the almond butter because it comes out creamier! I can't tell a difference with the casher butter

    Don't you want to soak the almonds first? Helps activate the nut and leaches out some of the other stuff u don't want in there?

    • @ShelitaRN
      @ShelitaRN  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stan Leery yes that would be best for enzyme activation you would have to dry them thoroughly first, it does alter the taste a bit
