This is absolutely the rarest and most obscenely obscure vehicle that we'll ever see on this glorious channel! God bless AutoPartsCiry for showing us the last SterLegend that hasn't been ground up and made into a Yeti mug! 🙏
I had a 1990 Acura Legend V6 manual. Thing was pretty fast but I sold it to my roommate because the registration fees were more than I payed for the car. He then got it impounded running from the cops 😂.
I bought one that was garaged as a collectable never started in over 15;years at that time. Got it running after flushing the tank, new rubber hoses and having the injectors rebuilt. Not really worth it but it was a fun project
Very good car, I was to have one, called the 800 in UK. I would love another one but had to go for the 75 Rove instead. Range Rover used alot of the same parts as 800.
@@michaelhungate7506o remember seeing those Merkurs for a long time. Someone that lived near by school bus stop had a white one and then a red one. I never gave it much though but I think the same owner.
The rover 800 born under the Austin rover group then rover on later models in British markets they came in various trim levels Stirling been the highest trim the engines ranged from 4 banger 2.0 up to the 2.5 and 2.7 Honda V6 with no V8 available. I think in the US they only ever had the 2.7 V6 under the Stirling badge? As a brit rover and Honda back in the 90s was one of the best car collaborations ever. Awsome cars i own a old R8 rover 214sei and a 03 MGZR and ZS V6. The 800 was one of the fastest depreciating cars ever new off the forecourt they suffered with tin worm and the dreaded dash warp above the gauges.
Those were sold in New Zealand under the Rover badge. We haven’t seen any in years either. Same era as the Austin Montego which we also don’t see any more. Edit: there is one for sale here, looks like it’s one that is shown at car shows so it’s mint. Currently auction is up to $2000. I don’t like their chances 😂
It's rare uncle had one in late 90,s but never seen another person driving them while he own one. And it was only in the late 90.s not that old at that time
I loved the fact that they never moved the hood release to the left. They left it on the right. Acura used a cartridge filter and a regular steal one, never really looked into that.
Back when I worked for a Wholesaler in the '90s we'd get these for dealers who (very begrudgingly) took these as trade-ins. Even the 'nice' ones were going through the sale for $700-800. So-So ones were in the $450-600 range and the raggedy/non-op ones (most had bad electricals/ECMs) went as low as $100. The last two categories many got bought by salvage operators (Pick-N-Pull type yards were a big buyer) or the 'Ricky Racer' types for the drivetrains & a few other items. I've maybe seen ONE on the road in the last year. (But it 'did' have a Collector's Plate on it??)
Rover 800 series in England. They were not the best built cars. Saw them all the time growing up. I liked the Fastback versions. Head gasket issues and rust
If it wasn't gonna be crushed I'd be happy. But unfortunately you're gonna crush this rare, wonderful car. The drivetrain and interior seem fine. Somebody who has skills could put it back on the road in short time.
Wow, that’s Sterling. Would’ve been a great car😮, it just had a lot let’s go problem. The greatest show used everything from the legend. The only thing should be British was the grill😹
It's sad that they chose to take the worst elements of British "technology" and combine it with Japanese running gear. I have an '88 Legend coupe with the same engine/trans combo and it runs outstanding, just bad leather after 37 years. Everything works too. I wish I could get the interior rear seats from this.
The last time I saw one of those on the road was 2001. I talked with the owner because I had one sitting in a parking lot that I never got to start and run. The interior was very nice.
You'll sometimes see one of the 60s-early 70s models (P6?) but those later ones (2600?) from about 1980-ish you never do. Last one I saw was over 20 yrs ago....and it had burned!!! (Common fate,I recall these 'did' have a 'fire issue'?)
Rover (Britisch Leyland) was Just a meshup of bankrupt companys and false desicions for years. If BMW didnt Had Put Money in it even Mini would be gone.
Ah, Japanese style and British quality. Such a winning combination.
Given it’s an entirely Honda drivetrain I’d say vice versa
It didn't matter. So dead no one wants it.
Almost as joyous as when BMW maintenance costs met British reliability with the Range Rover rebirth of the 2000s!
If it was vice versa it would be winning
Think haw bad it would be if it was jap yank 😂😂
This is absolutely the rarest and most obscenely obscure vehicle that we'll ever see on this glorious channel! God bless AutoPartsCiry for showing us the last SterLegend that hasn't been ground up and made into a Yeti mug! 🙏
Over in the UK it was called a rover 800 there's still many still around over here
I was digging the Peter Gabriel in your eyes great song ❤
The “v rare” vanity plate is a nice touch
Leather looks good still

WOW. Haven't seen that since 1997
Sterlingfixer in USA have all the stock of these cars
My mom had this car when I was a kid 😂
In europe this was a higher management fleet car back in the day!
The seats held up amazing.
Looks nice!
I remember when they came out. After a couple of years, they were gone.
💀
Kinda like the Eagle Talon
Here's another one, if you're old enough to remember, Merecur XR4TI.
@@michaelhungate7506o remember seeing those Merkurs for a long time. Someone that lived near by school bus stop had a white one and then a red one.

@@donniev8181not really, the Eagle Talon was around from 1989 til 1998.
Wonder if the wheels would fit on a Honda or did rover use their own lug spacing.
The lovely Rover 800, getting rare now even in the UK! Never realised that we're exported to the states! Such a shame Rover is no more. 😢

Omg 🤯🤯🤯 the last time I saw one of those I was overseas..
Rover 800 in the UK.
Interior looks great! Im sure you'd find a buyer if you put it up for sale whole
I was laying in bed watching the video. Suddenly I look at my computer and wonder if I was playing Peter Gabriel.
As an Acura enthusiast, I would love to save this gem!

I didn’t think I ever seen one I would love to have the tape saying the car brand
It's rare uncle had one in late 90,s but never seen another person driving them while he own one. And it was only in the late 90.s not that old at that time
White 98 accord smashed thx you
Nice rover sterling call sterling fixer best place for sterling in America
We also got the Honda Crossroad during this same era
I love this car when I was younger!! I love the idea of British luxury with Japanese reliability. We need more mashups from the car industry.
I loved the fact that they never moved the hood release to the left. They left it on the right. Acura used a cartridge filter and a regular steal one, never really looked into that.
They didn't sell because people didn't want to pay the premium price for British style wood grain interior in a Acura

"....in your eyes..."
Yes had one when the car died the Power plant and gearbox went into a project car they were a nice driving wagon.
These were big in England but not big enough here.
Honda power, Rover electronics.
Hoooly vacuum hoses Batman 😮 So glad most of that stuff went away by the time I starterd wrenching.
Did you know some cassettes are actually worth a pretty penny?
I bet it still runs
The extent of what I know...... Is it existed and my grandpa owned one lol
Thank for video
PERFECT Lemons car!!!
V RARE 1 license needs to go up on the shop wall.
Rover 800 series in England. They were not the best built cars. Saw them all the time growing up. I liked the Fastback versions. Head gasket issues and rust
I occasionally see one in my neighborhood.
Good car
Those leather seats though!
Crush it and another one will get restored and end up becoming the future Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Best of Show winner 50 years from now
Could be better if u try to start them 😎😎😎 greetings for Spain
Yep, Honda V6 2.7

The interior was very nice.
Same block as the nsx. If it was the 5cyl ide want a front cut
I think they make trucks still
Basically a luxury rover body and interior with a honda engine ive always wanted a uk rover in the us just out of curiosity
Keep an eye on craigslist, marketplace and offer up Sterling's and Rovers like the vitesse do pop up.
I had an 89 Legend. It was an okay car, but I never should have bought it.
Rolled one.
Years ago i seen one..in the midwest..never seen it again. The honda engine might be good if not high miles.drop it in a honda accord.
Any chance you kept parts on this car?
the engine bay looks so messed up and confused
The only thing valuable in the car is the Japanese motor and trans 💯🙀
Soooo someone just had 2 get in the trunk. Jeez
Any Sterling badges or emblems? That’s my daughter’s name.
Sterlings was the 5hit... But it came and went pretty quick.
Honda. With wood.
Best part of this car was the Honda power.
The British aspect of the car was what you might expect . Poor fit and finish.
Take the gauge cluster
My friend had one it was not a good car. Tons of electrical problems.
engines most likely still good n the trans! rip those out n sell them! just list them as honda parts
English Honda in Spanish it’s Bomba
If only it could talk. Maybe carfax has its story ....
In 60 70 few rovers import to America in 80 early 90 try sell them doesn't work well

They were built in England and had below average build quality for cars built in England.
Rare like Peugeot pujo pejo or Renault
Please dont crush it
Please don't crush it.
Low miles
These cars have a cult following in USA and in Europe. Parts are super rare and much desired on forums.
Worth saving for parts car
Rover made cars until 2005 bmw made them go away
Bmw got rover and make they bankrupt in 2005 but mini Cooper they keep going
Rover (Britisch Leyland) was Just a meshup of bankrupt companys and false desicions for years. If BMW didnt Had Put Money in it even Mini would be gone.
Problem after problem! Good way to ruin a Honda!
I want the tape.
It almost looks like a Ford Tempo
Those sun visors have seen better days! They look like mushrooms growing off the side of a tree :P
Kind of a shame imo
