  • 2017+ Touring Electrical Connection Upgrade/Update Kit 69201599A. This particular project is on my 2018 Harley Davidson Road King Special. This kit is needed if you want to add accessories without splicing into your factory harnesses/wiring. Overall pretty straight forward installation process, but the instructions are hard to follow. Always disconnect battery when working with electrical systems!

    Great video, very detailed and much needed clarity to get the job done. I have a 2020 heritage classic V107. IMO HD should have these pre-installed in their bikes the same way the pig-tail for a battery tender is in place. I think HD wants you to buy this kit and screw up the job so they can do the job and possibly void the warranty. Why else would the instructions be trash?lol. Don't get me wrong I love my bike but c'mon HD...They put LED lights in the front but forget about the super dim rear of the bike. At least come up with an option of a "Convenience Package" where you get the battery pigtail, this electric pigtail and rear LED lights. Sorry for venting but I /we shouldn't have to take apart more than one piece on a new bike to put in a Bluetooth sound system.

    I'm using this to install handlebar speakers, i still connect the speakers to the battery terminals correct, only difference would be instead of tapping directly into a wire I splice the speaker to the wires on end of the pig tail correct? Also will this provide continuous power to the speakers even when the bike is off? Or will it only provide power when turned on acc or turned on, don't want a dead battery lol

  • @chrillea1955

    Hi!
    Thanks for a great video.
    I installed the connection kit without a problem. The purpose is to get power to my new Mustang heated seat.
    Unfortunatelly nothing happens when I try to get power to the seat (no lights, no heat).
    So I've tried to measure when and where there are power in the connections. It seems that there is always power on the red one which is attached directly to the battery (as expected).
    Black is ground and I would assume that purple would give power when the ignition switch is on? That seems to be the problem because there is no power coming through the purple connection.
    I've measured directly in the connectionpoint (where the connection kit is installed) but there is no power at all coming to that connection regardless if ignition is on or not.
    Because if ignition is on the purple wire should be powered right?
    Do you know if this has a fuse that might have popped or where it is connected from the start?
    Biker Regards from Sweden

    • @BeardedTeslaGuy
      @BeardedTeslaGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be a bad fuse. The colored wire is accessory power, meaning when ignition is on
