I bought all the parts to do this about 8 years ago. I've just got them down from the loft as I thought I needed a "special" expensive Neutrik crimping tool 😂
Thanks for making this video. I have made my own speaker cable using your guide but paid $110 for 4 xlr cables. If I ever need longer xlr cables, guess I'll make my own to match the nylon sleeving I have on the speaker cable.
May have to try these connectors next time. But I must admit that I am very skeptical that they would make a difference over Neutrik Black/Gold soldered with Kester w/ Silver solder…
Hello there, Just curious to know if they will perform better than the mogami 3104 based regular Banana connectors cables ? I saw an old video of yours making them......
Interesting. I tried RCA (REAN connectors) and XLR (NEUTRIK connectors) versions of W2549 both soldered with Cardas solder. To my ears they sound muffled. Soundstage is non-existent, highs are rolled off, a lot of details is missing ... Indeed they sound neutral but thats it. If you are looking for high-resolution cable you should look something else. But for $30 you should give a try. Maybe you will have a synergy with the rest of you system.
Thanks for sharing, W2549 is neutral for me but it can be on brighter side with some recording. Sound stage is wider than much more expensive cables I have but for the depth I have to play around with speaker placement other than that W2549 is neutral in sound, could be more to do with paring system.
Hi, thanks for your comment. W2549 is best choice if you want absolute transparency, W2534 in the other hand highs are slightly rolled off but it is a great option if you’re having interference can’t go wrong with either one.
Hi, I own a Topping A 30 pro, but I'm thinking what would be an upgrade up to $500-600 and I would pair it with an SMSL 9 ultra. Is it a Topping a70, Xduoo ta-22, SMSL sh-x...?What gives cleaner ,clearer, more natural sound for my headphones and IEMs? Thanks and good luck in the future
@@justasimplefox like I mentioned in this I do have the crimp tool but main goal is to make XLR cable with basic tools for anyone who wants to learn how to make them.

Incredible video 👏 Thank you very much , the 2549 are the cables that I have always been using on my computer desk setup and they do sound phenomenal!
Great to hear!
Nicely Done.
Always appreciate your DIY projects.
Keep them coming.
Thanks
Thanks, will do!

I just built my amp and dac with no solder, sounds amazing ; )
You should patent it.
I build this same cable but using AECO Silver Plated copper connectors. Sounds amazing

Thank you so much for sharing this information!
Congrats! 😊
You are welcome!
Thanks for this review Tharbamar.
I was wondering, can you provide a review of the new Auralic Vega S1 streamer/ dac?
Would be great 😀
I would if they send me a sample, thanks

Hi this is for XLR interconnect cable between the components, 3104 is for the speaker.
@@Tharbamar Thanks a lot.... I got confused.
Maybe a silly question but how different would the audio quality be using audio quest xlr? Would it be basically same?
Not silly at all, in my case my $800 AQ XLR Cables are in storage box in favor of these.
@tharbamar have you tested mogami 2534? In my opinion it sounds better than 2549
Yes

Can you do a video showing how to make these interconnects using an rca connection?

Hi, SMSL SH-X th-cam.com/video/_-BwiIbZkpg/w-d-xo.html Or xDuoo TA-20 Plus if you like tube sound
th-cam.com/video/9wfLE6qwhqc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, but the TA-20 is a bit ugly and big for me with this metal box on the left and it requires a lot of space@@Tharbamar
I like the insurance policy of using 4C StarQuad Mogami W2534. Or is it really not worth worrying about and much better to just use 2C W2549 ?
W2549 is sonically better cable if that should be in your decision, quad IC cables tend to suffer airiness and extension.
@@Tharbamar I have a quad Mogami cable into my subwoofer, there the top end limitations hardly matter.
@@connorduke4619 what I meant was for IC cables.
Where can we by this Neutrik connectors i don't see it in the notes below
Best place to get is Markertek.
i prefer Canare L-4E6S
It is a little more laid back than W2549 for me but I use them sometimes.
You seem to be a respectable individual. That being said, is it really necessary to include fairy-tale magic in your cable-making tutorial?
I respect your opinion but I have to comment on what I notice, as always we're not here to agree each other.
The crimp quality looks a little weak..don´t know if I would trust it 🤔
It'll be fine for most system but I do switch components every 3-4 days I'll let you know when it happened.
@@TharbamarI checked and there are dedicated crimp tools for these small pins

prefer 2549 or 2534?
2549 for me.
@@Tharbamar thx. I have tried mogami 3082 and the results are 👍
What are the exact plugs you used ?
It is written on the plastic bag in the video. NC3FXX-HA and NC3MXX-HA
There is subtitles in the video too, thanks
I wouldn't trust crimps made with hemostats!
Who cares that’s not the point.
