- In this video you will learn how to configure IP Phones in a network of voice and data. This topology uses one DHCP server to assign IP addresses to both phones and PCs which are in different VLANs.
Clean explanation, not fast not slow, just *pure* and *clear.* And it's the only source that I found on this topic. Thank you very much! :)
Awesome, you just cured my 3 week headache.
I had a packet tracer project and this has helped me a lot! Thank you so much!
The best explanation for VOIP, thanks
The Best Video Ever.. I feel Like a guru now.. thanks for sharing..
Thanks for your excellent explanation but my question is if you have two or more switches how do you go about the configuration
Hi, just want to say "Thank you", your explanation is so excellent. thx a lot
Awesome video the only catch is that you have to use the router 2811 and switch 2960-24tt then it will work fine. I was using a different switch and it was not working when I looked at the video to see the exact switch number and then it work fine.
thank you for this excellent tutorial and well explained videos. It helped a lot in figuring out how to get that kind of setup working! Keep it up mate!
Excellent. This fill in the gaps I had in how to set this up. Thanks.

Can you use a layer 3 switch in place of the router
great video mate, thanks
Thanks a lot.
Is this also possible with a layer3 switch rather than the router? If so, how.
Thanks A LOT!!!! I Have homework you know, and i mount my network all fine... but the phones... i need it just this... thanks... was really great...
very helpful video thanks a lot
You SIR, are too cool! \o/
Thanks, you are awesome
keep going please
Can you simulate this for a main office and a remote office? I would like to see calling from a phone in a remote office to the main office. Is this possible with Packet Tracer?
Do you need two 2811s or can you route back to the 2811 in the main office for voice services?
Yes, it can be done. For example you can have the CME at the main office and the phones at the remote offices. You can simulate this by e.g. configuring a Frame Relay or VPN connection and have your CME and phones communicate over these connection. You can even have your DHCP Server in one office, CME in another office and the phones in the branch offices.
im wondering how do you know/configure which ephone will be ephone1 or ephone 2?
The order of ephone doesn't really matter, it's the line number of the phone that matters. If you really wanted to, you can hook the phone you want as ephone 1, in first. Configure it, then plug in the second one.
To use the numbers in this example ephone 1 could be 5003, ephone 2 : 5001. The only number that matters to the user is the 5000 number.
The MAC addresses can help you find which phone is which.
...if that makes any sense. I'm tired, stupid phones.
I followed this tutorial exactly like in this video but my ip phones still won't, I got only configuring vlan on the screen of the ip phones and nothing else..I am using PT 6.1.1, I really need help on this one..anyone plsss..
omg so thanks
thanks
My network has two locations, i configured through a frame relay, and works fine, no problem with that. two difrents nets... (192.168.1.0) and (192.168.2.0) and am going to add this proyect of ip phones in each net... now, if i dial a phone from one net to the another, will work??? or i have to do something else... Really thanks for your help!!!...
❤
At my version of Packet Tracer 5.3 , this simulation don't work. I tried with 6.0 too. Please i need a link of any version that you use that run ok this example.
The PT version that I used for this tutorial is 5.3. Just make sure that you use 2811 router. That is the only router in PT that supports IP Telephony.
thank you
i have done the practicals, i was successful till some extent. but at the end of ephone configuration :
CUCM(config-telephony)#ip sour
CUCM(config-telephony)#ip sou
CUCM(config-telephony)#ip source-address 192.168.5.1 por
CUCM(config-telephony)#ip source-address 192.168.5.1 port 2000
CUCM(config-telephony)#exit
CUCM(config)#ephone-dn 1
CUCM(config-ephone-dn)#number 5001
CUCM(config-ephone-dn)#^Z
CUCM#
%SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console
could you please sort this out....
i can't set numbers so my phone... :S pls help
