I imagine someone DMing a game and carefully knocking down quality figurines until you get to a room with a blue dragon. The party opens up with the initial volley, not expecting much. But then the dm roughly grabs the cheap plastic figure. The players eyes widen at the sound of creaking plastic, watching as the DM mercilessly tosses it behind them, dusts their hands, and happily continues on.
Just a few quick notes: 1. Themberchaud's (The Dragon from the D&D movie) design isn't new, it's from Out of the Abyss which was the 3rd or 5th 5e module to ever be released if I'm not mistaken. 2. The picture from the wiki you used to compare to the new design was not D&D art, it was just general fantasy art which people then decided to use in the wiki. 3. Dragon designs have always varied per individual, so things like different neck thicknesses aren't necessarily good evidence. I do have more notes but that is enough for now.
Small note that the first image he shows is also the image used on DND Beyond for adult dragons. I believe the image for ancient dragons is from the MM. Either way. The Red dragon redesign is I would say hardly a redesign. They made some of the spikes more prominent, and made the spines along its back more clearly spines.
So, obviously this isn't official at to what happens with dragon body parts but my Warforged Wildfire Druid collected Themberchaud's heart after our party defeated him. He used it with help from the party's cleric and divine soul sorcerer to replace his own heartwood with Themberchaud's heart. I had no clue what this would do but thought it would be cool to try and themetically in line with my characters worldview (we need to constantly change and adapt to overcome). When he awoke from his open heart transplant he found out that a) he's been magically changed to the race of high elf b) he picked up the Aberrant Dragon Mark feat which gives him a cantrip and 1st lvl spell from the sorcerer's list, a major boon (if applicable, it was and he got resistance to fire damage) and chronic heart burn 😕. He also found out that *FOOD* is the meaning of life. He now has a wicked appetite for all things yummy.

I "get" the green dragon camo, but what trees have leaves big enough to camouflage them? Further, the old Blue dragon design was for burrowing through sand dunes, which seemed more appropriate to be stocky like most burrowing critters.
with how dragons effect their environment I think that first one is a question meant to be answered by the dm which I'm ok with because at least they're bothering to give me a question to answer, if anything the new monster manual should be flooded with question marks aimed to assist in carrying out the fantasy of the creature
I was thinking the same thing, not to mention all of the designs that have the wing edge coming way in from the tips just straight up wouldn’t be able to fly because they wouldn’t be able to get enough lift
if a dragon is 500 ft in the air the wing and the tree canopy is 20 ft up and a leaf is 5 inches across the the leaves would be the same size as 10 foot wings from ground level
In some of the older Dragon magazines, there was a story (might have been Ed Greenwood), where a party was ambushed by a green dragon in a forest. They were shocked that something so big could hide so well among the trees. It helps if you consider how primeval forests can get in a fantasy setting with lots of lost civilizations that have been untouched by man for centuries.
I love the new Gold and red designs, though I’m not too pleased with the blue one. I’d like it to have a bigger build in the torso and, especially, the legs, and take away some of the black from it and give it more blue and maybe give it back some of the yellow underside again
I truley hope they do not change the blue dragon so much. The blue dragon design has always been my favorite dragon design from any where. Would be heart broken to see it changed so drastically.
I love what they did with bronze dragons, they're meant to be the war engines of the dragon families and they made it look like something between an enormous bird of prey and a shark giving an instant uneasiness when seeing it overhead, personally I just make them enormous hexapedal birds of prey to cut out the middle man when I describe and run them but it's a step in the right direction for me
I'm glad they're getting a shake up. I love the Todd Lock versions but I think it's healthy to change the designs around a bit. I imagine they'll drift back a bit, but I think it'll carry over the best aspects of both designs.
It doesn't matter, as long as they are making the game better, if they put in the work, they deserve the copyright (i don't know if it's possible to do so, but I'll take your word for it)
@@viiennhow does a company that's into DEI and said and done all the incredibly stupid thing this company has done over the last 5 years have any chance of improving their product? Have you not paid attention to the last several years of their output?
The new Red Dragon looks much more bulky and brutish, while the old one was a bit more regal. Old Bronze Dragon was my favorite D&D dragon. RIP Blue Dragon just doesn't feel like the same creature. I think they changed it too much. Love the Black Dragon update (although I feel its a touch...green). Green Dragon feels like a side grade. I like the plant/snake angle, but I loved the old croco-dragon look.
Another "conspiracy theory" is how much money the new designs may save by not having to pay royalties for older designs to previous artists like Larry Elmore. Thoughts?
Yup, it makes for intriguing power structures and fun problems to solve as a DM! I've had an Empire ruled by an Ancient Gold Dragon in my world and finding ways to Hinder them from solving the world's problems is fun. It's like being Superman if he was President
Using Fizbans helped me create a lvl 1-20 campaign based around Fairy Tail with chromatic Dragonborn are taught the ways of the dragon by the ancient adult versions of the color
They all look so very cool!! Also, for the record, in a con whose name I can't remember, when they talked about One DnD, i remember there was a leaked image of an ancient black dragon with wings that stretched almost like fingers or spider legs beyond the membrane itself
I actually love these changes, Dragons all have generally the same silhouette even in some 3.5e material that I’ve looked through. These designs seem super cool, unique, & thematic for each dragons personality
They all look so cool and as a dm I feel like I can describe a dragon without its scales and then have some foreshadowing with its hunting styles by their description with the green dragon and all its camouflage being an ambush hunter.
I love the new designs so freaking much. You can tell what lifestyles they live by looking at them. For example, the green dragons are totally arboreal. I haven't read their lore yet, but I saw them and said yeah that thing lives in trees. Then I saw some art of the new green dragon... In a tree. Absolutely superb. Also the gold dragon is my favorite dragon design I've seen in a while. I get happy just thinking about it. It's like a floating snake. I LOVE snakes so seeing a giant, floating, noble snake with legs is just chef's kiss. And the fact the bronze dragon has oxidization visible on it, implying they slowly become greener with age, is SO COOL.
Cannon dragon lore is that any dragon can look any way, but the different breeds have a "most common" appearance. That has been accepted since at lease 3.5 (probably earlier, but thats the oldest draconomicon that I personally own). I live dragon art, but I still prefer Todd Lockwoods designs from 3rd and 3.5.
Yeah these redesigns looks rather nice, I thought WoTC was gonna keep designs towards BG3 bc, that game really gave them a good success run before they went all crazy and went into a direction where they forced Larian studios out sadly. Which I am still upset about. These changes are cool, kinda weird about the gold dragon, but if all of these designs changes up the Dragons wouldn’t the Dragonborn’s need a change too?
I mean the 3e Gold Dragon is supposed to resemble the standard East Asian Dragon design, but the art just rarely did the concept justice, this new versions seems to actually be capturing the intention of what a Gold Dragon is supposed to look like.
Personally, I don't think any of these really capture the personalities of the original. I'm just going to stick with the old designs and lore for my games. 3.5e Draconomicon is probably the best book on DnD dragons you will ever find, they should have started their redesign from there. Also, it's their own fault people stopped thinking of dragons as intelligent creatures, they literally got rid of their spell casting in 5e.
I'll admit, some of the designs do take a bit to get used to, giving me whiplash with how drastically different they are. Change is sometimes necessary; in this case it's a *good* thing. It's just given me whiplash, is all.
Seems to continue long-running efforts to further differentiate dragon types in face and silhouette. Contrast the 1e, 2e, 3e designs, especially blue and black. The big reversal is that 3e’s gold design was actually more similar to the other dragons’!
Those werent changed, those were tests and someone posted on reddit as if they were the final as you can see by the newly released green dragon been an aquatic snake and not that ridiculous thing with maple wings.
The drizzt book designs to me read like prototypes, initial sketching out of the designs before they refined them more for the rulebook designs. The reason I think this is mainly the black and green dragons, with the black dragon from the rulebook lacking those weird extra wing struts and having a more crocodilian/skeletal body. The green dragon from the rulebook looks completely different from the drizzt one, being essentially a giant snake instead of a more traditional green dragon with a forked tail.
Kinda feel like brass dragons should have the largest wingspan rather than the red, making them as broad and garish as possible is often a goal of mine
@@shealupkes Its probably because the red dragon is meant to be the most aggressive/menacing of dragons, and so they have such a large wingspan to cast a shadow over cities when it flies over them and stuff
@@shealupkes hell, i even had the Idea to make red dragons have the larger wingspan Just because of their sheer size, meanwhile brass dragon maybe have a larger wingspan relative to their size, since red dragons are one of, If not the largest type of dragon
@@omegafish69 that also seems cool, I certainly made red dragons heavier and deal more damage with physical and breath attacks, most of my brass dragons wingspans are vanity, they're the most like birds in aesthetic and behavior
I'm not a fan. EDIT: I realize why they're so offensive: they look stolen from a post FFX final fantasy game. They don't look distinctive from each other any more than the old dragons. I don't care for the chonky look or the cankles. The tailsalso all look super long and super thick, and it's just not the aesthetic I like. I can probably be ok with the red, the gold has always looked weird and like a remorraz though unfortunately this one just makes that comparison more so. THe white dragon used to be more lithe as well. Honestly the best redesign is the blue. and the green, my fave, the did the dirtiest. I loved the huge spiny sail down the back and the fact that it looked more menacing.
In my World, dragons can have any alignment Like, the party is about to meet a young green dragon that is good, and later fight an evil adult gold dragon :v
I do miss the green dragon’s longer more crocodilian/Spinosaurid styled snout which gave it an intelligent leer. The camouflage idea, while endearing seems odd- surely the scales should resemble leaves instead of wings because what tree had two massive wings? The blue one is the biggest offender as it’s supposed to be a burrowing dragon and the older one was already unique with an odd head, broad nasal horn, and noticeably burlier build than even the red dragon. The white dragon I love mostly although I miss the older one’s colors.
tbh in the lore it has always said that Blue Dragons prefer flying and that they fly for long periods of time over their territories which are usually deserts and the like. I do agree that they should look a bit stockier however
Not a big fan of the bronze dragon colour. Or the silver dragon redesign, it could've been more snake like, like the New gold dragon. Red, blue, green, black and gold dragob are Amazing, especially the gold and blue
I do think some of the designs are pretty cool, like the silver and bronze ones do look pretty cool, although there are some that are a bit more questionable in my opinion, but i wouldn't call them bad, just different interpretations. They just not not my personal favorite The gold dragon is closer to chinese dragons, like in earlier editions, with the smaller wings, but i feel like the wings are too small. the argument of "They use magic to fly" is fair, but i my opnion it also reduces imposing figure and makes feel less powerful and wings are what makes them feel like dragons. Also while i don't mind slightly more sleek designs, but the long tail also makes it feels more like i'm looking at cloth, rather than a tail in the flying picture. it's not that it nessary bad, but just doesn't feel like powerful dragon. Also some chromatics are a bit weird. like the blue dragon colors also feels off, i did like to more vibrant colors some of the older designs had and they made them feel more distinct, this feels more like a mix between a blue and a black dragon. the green is better and a decent design, but can in my opinion have a little bit more green and vibriant. i feel they should have the chromatic colors more as an base and use other colors to compliment them more. Still, if these are the designs, i'm interrested in what they will do with the rest of the monsters. and these are just my personal opinions and rambles.
I do want the new books but I don't want wizards to get the money haha. I might see if I csn buy it through a mom and pop shop so at least it feels a little better.
it's such a pity there are no ways of pirating their content so shops aren't rewarded for buying their content and you won't be buying directly from wizards themselves, none at all
I must admit that I love the new designs, especially the red, it feels stronger and more villanous, but I prefer the old green, it feels more simple and classical in a way that is perfect for me
Okay, I gotta correct you about the Gold Dragon thing. Originally gold dragons looks like the 'new" look. Back in 1st and 2nd edition, their representation on the monster manual are on par with the one presented now. It's merely a classic look for it rather than a redesign.
I like some elements of the chromatic designs from the Drizzt books, but I was not a fan of the bulky tails on the white and black dragons. It looks sort of clumsy to me.
As the resident Dragon expert (in my party at least) I have some issues with some of these designs and one of which is really an issue with the entire concept of the Dragon itself. For one, I think the White Dragons needs to be beefed up A LOT more. I appreciate what they're doing with the scales looking like plated armor but - for the White Dragon which is supposed to be the second most physically dominant Dragon, second only to the Red Dragon, I think White Dragons should be unbelievably muscular. They should be so massive that they should completely be unable to fly - instead having a powerful jump and a faster swimming speed as White Dragons would rather swim to where they need to go in this head canon. The Blue Dragon, is again nice, it is an electrical Dragon so - one would assume it would have horns for lightning rods and a slim figure but - I don't know, I kind of miss the square-jawed beefcake that the old design had. I'm starting to realize that many of my complaints for the new designs are just "Make them look like they're on steroids" so in an effort to get away from that... I hate and I mean HATE the Black Dragon's acid spitting ability. To me, it just makes no sense why a Dragon living in a swamp would have the ability to spit acid. It makes a lot more sense for it to use lightning since water conducts electricity and... you know, swamps are like, 75% water. To me, giving the Black Dragon lighting adds a certain X factor that enforces the idea that no one should fight a Dragon in its own lair. If you waltz up into a lightning spitting Black Dragon in its swampy lair covered in water then, you're going to have a very bad time and I just feel like that would add so much more to encounters with Black Dragons. Kinda gives them a reason to be so cowardly yet so prideful at the same time because it's like, yeah against other Dragons outside of its watery home, it isn't going to achieve much but inside its natural habitat it is king and undisputed.
Personally, I have some very mixed feelings on the redesigns. I personally prefer the more "classic" look of D&D dragons. One might claim they are a little generic but they also captured the majesty and powers of those creatures. They also tended to convey intelligence while many of the designs among the evil ones are more animalistic. Overall, I think the redesigns of the evil dragons are fine; the red dragon is magnificent. The black one needs to be more black; looks too greenish. Green looks great; different shade of green that convey distinction among the body while maintaining its color. Blue is interesting but seems a bit too overdesigned. Still, the lightning along its spine is a nice touch. Overall, distinct wing shapes makes you think "why didn't they do that BEFORE?" Can't stand the white one; too bird like and animalistic even though they are usually the least intelligent of the dragons. Nice color scheme though. The good dragons look terrible; gold looks famished and leans too into an Asian design. The tail is simply too long and makes it look shrimpy in comparison. Can't stand the sliver dragon color scheme; too much brass make it look mottled. The classic all-silver can't be beat. As for the brass, it also looks over-designed BUT it is a distinct look that will never be mistaken for a gold dragon. Still, unless you are running a dragon-intensive campaign or world, do we really need brass or copper dragons when you have gold and silver? Good dragons, IMHO, should be fairly rare. More evil dragons increase tension and enemies to fight. A gold or silver dragon can be a powerful ally and mentor but should be used sparingly to keep them unique and fresh.
The second they said dragons didn't have different personalities, I knew i shouldn't bother. What about the white dragon who loved her rider so much she carried his body on her back in his saddle till he was a skeleton? I forget their names but you could have ended up snatched by her mate who wanted her to be happy if you got caught. Or Angelspark? Or the dragon under Castlekeep library? They all had distinctive personalities. And every book that mentioned the types gave a description of their temperaments and preferred places to live. This is an insult to Palarandusk.
The Bronze Dragon has a cool flight silhouette, but I hate everything else about it. Bronze dragons are coastal dragons, and I hate that they got rid of everything that made them look a little aquatic
look until they give dragons their spellcasting back pathfinder 2e has the most accurate d&d dragons regardless of appearance. DRAGONS ARE SWOLL SPELLCASTER, NOT MELEE BEATSTICKS. 5e destroyed them nuetered them defaced them debased them and now an entire generation has no idea the true terror of a dragon. All fun an games till the red dragon turned invisible or created mirror images or hasted its damn self (but of course, 5e concentration changes also suck for Dragons if you do make them able to cast, and the innate spellcasting rules are horribly lacking compared to what dragons used to get)
I don't like the changes. In part because I don't think they are needed, the dragons were already different between them, yet they still resembled belonging to the same species. Heck, the draconomicon from 3e went full detail with their differences and sub-species. While this change feels arbitarely and spitting in the face of over 20 years of tradition. It doesn't help for me either that the new design look too pokemon-ey to me, they are so different between them that they look like they belong to different species. The blue dragon is way too slim and looks like an eel, the bronze looks too fat in a creepy way, I hate the new black dragon wings, and the gold dragon looks like it would be dragging its tail when walking on the floor.
They ARE different species though. In the same way that lions, tigers, and cheetahs are. They're all cats, but they're different species of cat, that evolved to fill different ecological niches.
@@DarthSanguine That's exactly the thing I don't like of tourist fans. Please check out the draconomicon before commenting. The draconic family has multiple species within, metallic and chromatic are a single species, pseudodragons, wyverns and the like are different species.
@@azzaelulbrinter They do not fit the criteria for being of the same species. While it has been years since I read the 3.5 Draconomicon, if it called the chromatics all a single species, then the writers badly misunderstood basic taxonomy. They would qualify as different species in the same genus. Otherwise, largely agreed. The changes are not really in keeping with the lore. The only that is _arguably_ an improvement is the gold, which is arguably more in line with the lung/ryu inspiration going back through all editions.
Sorry, but the art design lo oks like it's meant to be easier for AI art to recreate. The vague linework and blurred colors are perfect for AI to replicate. Though I'll admit the idea to make the gold's profile resemble a sword is inspired, and the white's design does look more primal. Of all the new designs, I'd be happiest with the new white dragon. The 5e version was definitely the WORST of the set. However... you used basically used some of the WORST pictures of the previous editions to compare to. That feels a little disingenuous. The old gold is just as slim and alien looking, while still maintaining enough draconic physiology to feel like a subspecies rather than a different thing altogether. The new red is... a bit fat looking. The proportions feel off to me, with the tail being too thin, the limbs a bit too short, and the neck weirdly wide... kinda like it was done with AI support. The old style looked regal, like a perfect combination of cat-like grace and reptilian ferocity. More importantly, it was HAND DRAWN. The bronze I'm mostly fine with. Not at first, but I like how the wings look like they were made for swimming, which fits well for them. Still not happy with the limb proportions, or the head shape. Looks a little fragile, to be honest, for what essentially amounts to the Paladin of the Metallic dragons. The green and blue, in particular, are horrible to look at. The green looks like a cluttered mess and loses all of the character of the more crocodilian design of 5E. Despite being weaker than other dragons, its longer neck and limbs let it keep attackers at bay from its vitals, especially from larger types. Both of those features are now gone and it feels weaker for it. Blue would need to have a total lore change to make sense, as they are dessert dwellers and burrowers. Their wings resembled a bat's more than any other dragon, and bats are actually the most agile flyers in the animal kingdom. The blue is the best flyer of the dragons, but this new version resembles a a glider more than anything, so the lore would have to change considerably. 5e put a LOT of effort into their designs. This does not inspire joy, even if it's not confirmed as official art. It's not a good start. With all that said, I get the changes. WotC/HasBro doesn't want to pay royalties to the artists of the 5e stuff, so they gotta make adjustments. I just wouldn't call these an improvement. Again, this feels a bit dishonest, simply because the pictures of the old stuff you showed were either terrible picks, or too small to see clearly. That feels dishonest of you. If I'm wrong, I apologize, but my point still stands that you didn't present the old versions effectively, and your lack of any criticism in the new felt deliberate/odd.
The good is the only one that I would so much as entertain the argument to be an improvement, as I think it does better indicate the South/East Asian inspiration. Otherwise agreed, and for largely the same reasons. The 3.5 red was by far my personal favorite and this new one is such a downgrade.
Kinda hate the new gold dragon. Liked the sleeker old silver, but that's not too different. Blue was so distinctive before already, so not a huge fan. Meh. Screw 6th edition anyways
That gold dragon design looks absolutely ridiculous... The proportions are so cartoony. Like Im looking at a Pokemon... The new art is fine but this is just . . . . .ugh. It's ridiculous. If they would expand the game off of the crap they reset a dozen times instead of just a new lore and look, they might actually be creating something rather than regurgitating the same stuff constantly. The dragons are redrawn as monsteresque and the player classes look like a cartoon for grade school children. It doesn't match. I can't wait until D&D is a game for adults again. The main reason for the changes are probably to make them copywritable, but regardless, making each type quite different in look is a huge improvement
It doesn't matter, as long as they are making the game better, if they put in the work, they deserve the copyright (i don't know if it's possible to do so, but I'll take your word for it)
No not really.
@@viiennhow does a company that's into DEI and said and done all the incredibly stupid thing this company has done over the last 5 years have any chance of improving their product?
Have you not paid attention to the last several years of their output?
@@WayneBraack I take it back.... just found out about the controversy about dnd and copyright shit from few years ago, I am new to dnd 😂
The new Red Dragon looks much more bulky and brutish, while the old one was a bit more regal.
Old Bronze Dragon was my favorite D&D dragon. RIP
Blue Dragon just doesn't feel like the same creature. I think they changed it too much.
Love the Black Dragon update (although I feel its a touch...green).
Green Dragon feels like a side grade. I like the plant/snake angle, but I loved the old croco-dragon look.
The blue dragon feels like it could cut through the air like a nightfury. I like it
Another "conspiracy theory" is how much money the new designs may save by not having to pay royalties for older designs to previous artists like Larry Elmore.
Thoughts?
I love Fizban's it inspired me to create a world where the monarchs are dragons.
First thing i thought when i saw the "new" Gold Dragon design was "oh yeah, sure, that's an Adult Gold Dragon just like on the MtG card from 2021"! :D
the white dragon is my favorite design it looks so heavily armored, muscular and birdlike
They all look so very cool!! Also, for the record, in a con whose name I can't remember, when they talked about One DnD, i remember there was a leaked image of an ancient black dragon with wings that stretched almost like fingers or spider legs beyond the membrane itself
Glad they are doing this since bronze, brass and copper dragons look so similiar
I love the changes so far!
The green dragon design for 5e was so accurate... I am going to ignore a change to its appearance.
The new dragons look very good
Personally, I enjoy the proposed redesign for the Green Dragon the most. I cannot get enough of those leaf wings!
I mean the 3e Gold Dragon is supposed to resemble the standard East Asian Dragon design, but the art just rarely did the concept justice, this new versions seems to actually be capturing the intention of what a Gold Dragon is supposed to look like.
Yeah, the gold here is the only one I consider _arguably_ an improvement as it better conveys the slightly firedrake-ified lung/ryu/naga.
7:27 isn't that a COPPER dragon, and not a bronze dragon?
"Here we have the gold, silver, bronze, red, white, green, black, and blue dragons"
Copper and brass feeling left out.
@@omegafish69 valid, giving the brass dragon a longer wingspan and the red dragon a bigger shadow could be fun
The dragon of the film was so good
Just gotta say, the gold dragon looks like it would get torn apart by a red now. That long tail looks more hindering than helpful in combat.
Ehh, idk... I definitely prefer the 3E designs. Bronze is my favorite dragon, and the new one is giving me stupid Plesioth flashbacks :^^^)
cool, and can i just say thank you for not acting like a coked-out, clearance sale, hype man to deliver information.
The title makes it seem like a "HUGE NEWS! You MUST watch this video if you're a dragon"
Spread the word. The Dragons need to to know!
If this is the new handbook, they better release a monster manual as well. I’m kinda inspired to create other dragons
I am glad the gold dragon os getting its 2e look back
Whilst the new designs are amazing, I'm very interested to see statblocks adjusted to match.
I like these designs! To me, the dragons previously didn't stand out from eachother apart from their color, I like this a lot.
The D&D film red dragon design looks more like the previous design that’s been around since 3e imo
I ok with coming up with new ideas done well
I still use the 3/3.5 designs.
In my World, dragons can have any alignment
Like, the party is about to meet a young green dragon that is good, and later fight an evil adult gold dragon :v
I do agree that they should look a bit stockier however
The gold dragon looks a lot like a long sword from the top down.
They just not not my personal favorite
The gold dragon is closer to chinese dragons, like in earlier editions, with the smaller wings, but i feel like the wings are too small. the argument of "They use magic to fly" is fair, but i my opnion it also reduces imposing figure and makes feel less powerful and wings are what makes them feel like dragons.
8:11 That's not a flame. White Dragons breathe cold.
And cold is just less heat. Cold breath usually is depicted. Looking exactly the same as fire, but cold
I do want the new books but I don't want wizards to get the money haha. I might see if I csn buy it through a mom and pop shop so at least it feels a little better.
it's such a pity there are no ways of pirating their content so shops aren't rewarded for buying their content and you won't be buying directly from wizards themselves, none at all
love the new gold dragon design
New Bronze dragon had me going “OOOOHOHOHOOOOO!!!”
What about brass and copper? man they definitely show the redisigns, those on Dritzz look nothing like the ones we hac.
Smaug is the best red dragon out there, smart, evil, magical and vain. Just play them like that and you are golden.
I like some elements of the chromatic designs from the Drizzt books, but I was not a fan of the bulky tails on the white and black dragons. It looks sort of clumsy to me.
Im wigged out he didnt mention the red dragons new horns
The way I differentiate D&D dragons and dragons from other games is that I buy the other games.
Just so you know, the dScryb link isn't in the description.
Looks like a Sea Slug. Or AI gone wrong.
Gotta catch em all...pokemon!
Looks like How to Train Your Dragon meets Monster Hunter.
Overall, distinct wing shapes makes you think "why didn't they do that BEFORE?"
Can't stand the white one; too bird like and animalistic even though they are usually the least intelligent of the dragons.
A gold or silver dragon can be a powerful ally and mentor but should be used sparingly to keep them unique and fresh.
if we are getting new dragon designs, are we going to get new designs for Bahamut Tiamat
We already have Tiamat's new design
The second they said dragons didn't have different personalities, I knew i shouldn't bother. What about the white dragon who loved her rider so much she carried his body on her back in his saddle till he was a skeleton?
I forget their names but you could have ended up snatched by her mate who wanted her to be happy if you got caught.
Or Angelspark? Or the dragon under Castlekeep library? They all had distinctive personalities. And every book that mentioned the types gave a description of their temperaments and preferred places to live.
This is an insult to Palarandusk.
Bronz dragon remind me pf Namiel from Monster Hunter World
The Bronze Dragon has a cool flight silhouette, but I hate everything else about it. Bronze dragons are coastal dragons, and I hate that they got rid of everything that made them look a little aquatic
Copyright related changes....
look until they give dragons their spellcasting back pathfinder 2e has the most accurate d&d dragons regardless of appearance. DRAGONS ARE SWOLL SPELLCASTER, NOT MELEE BEATSTICKS. 5e destroyed them nuetered them defaced them debased them and now an entire generation has no idea the true terror of a dragon. All fun an games till the red dragon turned invisible or created mirror images or hasted its damn self (but of course, 5e concentration changes also suck for Dragons if you do make them able to cast, and the innate spellcasting rules are horribly lacking compared to what dragons used to get)
Huh... the green dragons look nothing like the one from WoTC's official video which resembled too much like Cobra Dragons from older editions.
@@DarthSanguine they are not. Psuedodragon, drakes and wyverns are different species.
@@DarthSanguine nice try but Tiger, Lion, Leopard and Jaguar are panthera family
Red 4 lyfe
Is that a bronze? Or is it a copper?
I understand the serpentine look for a green dragon, but the gold dragon just looks silly. Not a huge fan of most of these design changes but I can live with that, its just a shame to see them throw away the original, coherent, designs for something so... Unappealing to look at... (Looking at you blue dragon 👀)
I'm not a fan of Asian-like dragons. Nothing against the culture or anything (to be clear), just the overall aesthetics. I'm most fascinated by traditional dragons as they appear in Game of Throes, House of the Dragons, and similar media.

A lot of that is clearly AI art.
