I love the disassembly video i still think it's awesome. I always enjoyed looking at my uncle's manuals. Words are one thing but it's like watching my uncle strip his carbs after the season is done was fun to watch. This reminded me of that great video!
@4037McK1 I suggest checking the filter and fuel pump, the bowl can be full but if the pump is toast then it won't work. also, did you blow the carb out with compressed air? all the passages?
@MrDodgediesel93 well if it has not pulse port it is an oldie. just drill in the middle of the case under the carb, when i drilled mine i cam in contact with the crank slightly but it was fine. you only need a small opening to get the pulse. use a drill bit that matches with a NPT27 tap and then get an NPT27 brass nipple - the rubber hose will just slip right on.
Hi great video, I've got a Royal Enfield bullet 350 with a mikcarb vm24 on it which is a clone of this carb, should my pilot jet have a whole all the way through the centre, as yours does, because mine does not!!!! I'm refurbing because I cannot get mine to run without the choke on all the time???
Thanks for your explanation. My bike Yamaha FZR 250. i cleaned my mikuni carburator (4) and cleaned main jet, pilot jet and adjust air mixture 2.5 turns out from the closing point. My problem is 3 times failed my eco (smoke) test and result show more petrol consumption.but last years easily pass the eco test.My problem is need to reduce petrol. How can i adjust?please help.Thanks.
I couldn't tell from the video, but did you have the gasket soaking for the 24 hours as well, it just appeared in the end of the video beside the main carb body.
Hey there my canuk brother from another mother I was looking over some of your old video's and said to myself. Self need to send a shout out to Louie. Louie we need you to do a mechanical carb idle sync using a drill bit video and a cable sync video on a xlt triple there are a ton on motorcycle but none for sleds.and seeing your the go to man for xlt's hope to see one soon thanks for all your time and vids Lou keep up the great work . Jon from quebec p.s oh yeah were can I get a powermadd stick for my toolbox brother cheers
I cant seem to get my choke plunger out of my carb, its like its "seized" and it dosn't move at all, the plunger on my other carb came out fine. Do I just replace the cable and drill out the plunger? I all ready tried to soak it but it wont budge. What do I do?!?!?
nice video.i took out the throttle cable and the piston valve.when i put it back together and press on the throttle, the throttle cable is very loose.how to get it back to like good stiff throttle when i press it.
Please help. I have a brand new unused mikuni vm18. I removed the 4 screws on the float bowl. I cannot for the life of me separate the bowl from the upper half of the carb. It's like it's superglued on there even with the gasket. I cannot rejet until I separate the bowl. Any advice????
hey I have two older polaris quads. one 300 2x4 and one 400 xplorer 4x4. Both 2 strokes. Do you know what brand carb I would have? all it says is made in japan on mine
Does it matter what side the float retainers go on j think mine got mixed up on my 1990 ski doo safari lc 468 it wouldn't start unless held wide open and pulled over like 14 times I took it apart cleaned it and Idk if the float retainers are on the wrong side or something and it also bogs really really bad and idles at 3000 rpm and doesn't like to stay running can someone help me with this please
ok my 4 mikuni's look diffrant than any other carbs iv seen on youtube,,like my needle jet has a metal tube around it not a plastic part,,and its held in by a C-clip
Good video,no wasted words talking. Captions worked fine. I know it worked but aren't you teaching the beginner bad habits. Vice grips should not be used on any carburetor unless you have no other option. Use the right tool.
Even 9 years later, this video continues to be helpful. Currently cleaning my mikuni off my 1970 Hodaka. Thanks brother

Thanks for the tip on removing the pin that holds the float device.

I'm about to rip my carbs off. Now I feel confident i can do it. thanks for sharing.
@4037McK1 is fuel getting to the carbs? hows your fuel pump? Fresh fuel in the tank? What type of sled and engine?

Very nice and thorough cleaning.
Awsome video. Can the collector be used as return line? What is the small nozzel for on the side?
It's a vent to atmosphere to allow fuel to come into the carb.

Yes I only found the emulsion tube after watching one of these videos and I had cleaned the carbs 4 times before that.
@MrDodgediesel93 not a problem at all - have fun!

@MrDodgediesel93 yes you can - I have done it - drill carefully!
I noticed that you pulled the cable along with the carb is that better than disconnecting the cable from the carb on the bike?
you can leave the cable and throttle valve attached to bike, be careful to not bend the pin
Oops typo.... Come down to the Caribbean to clean my carb... I'll provide accommodation :-)
allright perfect thanks alot for all your help
@MrDodgediesel93 what motor are you doing this to?

I bet you didn't clean it out and then clean it out again and BLOW IT OUT. Also get some air brush tip cleaners from somewhere. They work great.
