Somehow MLB manages to make their side characters so much more interesting than their main characters and make their main characters absolute horrible people.
I think the issue I'd the writing is saying one thing about how we should premiere the characters, and its contrasting with what they show us and we we naturally perceive them which then contrasts with how they say we Should be perceiving them. So there is no way to be satisfied because if we go by them telling us tgey are just good people then we get angry because it implies the bad stuff they do is good. And if we see them as complex we get frusterated because that complexity doesn't get adressed.
I actuall think the min characters ARE actually interesting but the show goes out of its way to hide or distract or undercut the complexity that is obviously there.
Like hiw marinette actually has alot of parallels with gabriel as a person anx that she actyally judges lay and harshly at times and has difficulty in putting herself accurately in others shoes. Amd that she gets tunnel vision when she thinks she is right or When stressed. Like she seems mature and logical but when her personal emotions get involved she struggles hard. But thus doesn't negate she os a good person because when she messes up she does want to fix things.
And even adrien who seems childish anx goofy is actually way more emotionally intelligent and perceptive than people give him credit for.
Though I definitly will hand you all tge side characters have so much untapped potential.

My thoughts on Luka & Kagami bc everyone’s talking abt them: don’t get me wrong, I love Luka & Kagami. But they feel like they were just shoveled in to make the plot more interesting, like “OhOhO RiVaL LOvE iNtErEst, WhAt WiLL tHeY dO??” I love them but I’d like them to get more personality than “male & female rival love interest” explore Kagamis trauma w her mother, and (season 4 spoiler alert???) Luka finding out abt his dad. Stuff like that, maybe kagami only liked adrien as a friend but was convinced she likes him bc her mom doesn’t give her enough love, something interesting. Ik they probably aren’t capable of that though, considering Chloe.
