Thanks for posting that. I'd been scouring TH-cam looking for an 'in-use' wind test of the latest RSVMP with the Rycote lyre shock mount. The product info states that the foam windscreen was also improved. Was the RSVMP test done with just the foam windscreen or did you also have a dead kitten attached ? Also was that with the (microphone) low-cut/high-pass filter activated or not? I'm thinking 'not', as the sound would have been thinner. Also (sorry for all the questions) but what direction was the wind coming in? I still have the original (all metal) RSVM, which, although cumbersome, has served me well. With the dead-kitten attached the wind noise reduction is quite effective when facing directly into the wind, but when gusts whip around the sides and back you pick-up some rumble from the wind buffeting the exposed microphone casing. In those tests you were standing quite close in front of the camera which could have shielded wind coming in from the front a bit. For testing 'raw' wind protection I found it best to do it out in a wide open space away from trees, buildings and potential sources of low-frequency rumble, ideally with a prevailing wind direction, and then do a slow full 360 degree turn on a tripod, as you did there, including one pass without any speech. Still, if that test with the RSVMP was without a dead kitten the results are very encouraging. I passed on the former RSVMP largely because of the build quality - the flimsy plastic shoe mount being a weak point. As I understand, with this Rycote lyre version they also changed to a metal shoe mount. Maybe time to upgrade then ! BTW - I've used those stick-on Rycote micro-windjammers, and similar, on various cameras. They're quite handy aren't they as a stop-gap measure. Cheers.
