Glad I found this video. Wilson 5000 came in and I had continuity between the threads and the antennas positive probe seems kind of odd but I’m no RF expert yet
Most of these base loaded antennas are shunt loaded, i.e.: the coil is grounded at a specific tap point on the coil (slightly different tap point on each coil) to help with matching.
Old post I know, but I am going to assume the quality control has gone down since they first came, out as I have had MANY of these same antennas with no problems whatsoever back in the late 1990's early 2000's.
sorry Vic I didn't see comment, you can't really take apart. they are fused together, you could try and cut around with hack saw on bottom? but you have to glue back together with apoxy regard Larry
Dear Larry -- I need your help ... how to disassemble the covering mantle from the coil ... I assume, at the whip connector on the top -- I actually tried to open with a big torque but without success. Is it glued there ? Can you help me with this issue -- what could i try ?

Thanks for making this video. It helps illustrate how tapped coils work.

Yes nothing is made like it used to.
I had a couple of freinds with the same problem. I had great results with the firestick 5/8 wave. 5fter.

Awesome thank you!
Good job Larry, I wouldn’t waste my time my time is worth more than that. Get a different antenna like a k 40 don’t laugh there just as good!!
why wouldn't they just continue the coil at a 90 into the center like the 5000?
that copper stub is a disgrace
How in the world did you get that thing apart
It was. While ago I think hack saw lol
