    /// ABOUT US ///
    Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Central America. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with Latin America. Since then, we began planning and saving to do an extensive Latin America tour. 2020 delayed those plans by half a year but during this time stuck in BC, we explored a new hobby (like everyone in the pandemic) of videography and photography. We are now using our new skills to document our adventures around South and Central America. Our desire through these videos is to provide helpful and inspiring content for other travelers while also showing people around the world how beautiful Latin America truly is! Thanks for following along and please leave a comment to say hi!

    Hi guys thanks for visiting my beautiful country. I would recommend to check out the towns that surround lake atitlan and I would also recommend visiting some of the safer parts of Guatemala City such as zone 10,14,4 and also Ciudad Cayala .
    The city of Quetzaltenango and the western parts of Guatemala have a higher Mayan population and a lot of old colonial sites mixed with Mayan culture and colorfulness

    I just had to say. I think most people have no idea just how amazing food is in Latin America. Everything is cooked - on the spot after you order it. Except for street food but sometimes yes. No fast food. Healthy. Abundant. Inexpensive. Ecuador has a exclusive non GMO policy into the country. It's so unlike Canada or America. Once you eat there, it really is hard to deal with or go back to the norm outside of L America. You look at "regular" food and it's like ehhh. You gotta wonder, Why can't we eat like this outside of L America? You gotta go to Whole Foods or Sprouts or some health food place and pay a lot just to get the same. The food there is sooo good. It definitely makes it worth going. And what's cool is it almost puts "fun" in the foodie adventure. I like these videos of you guys sharing what your getting of : What it's like to get a day of food in Guatemala. Nothing too over the top. Just a nice day of so many choices. Maybe not the funnest videos to shoot, but kinda cute to see how your meal day turns out and what to expect if you go there. I'm like you guys. I just "go with it" and try stuff out or come back to a place I've seen as I venture out. Yeah. I could eat that stuff forever. American food is so overrated. hahahahahaha.

      Way ahead but I can't wait until you guys get to Columbia. From what I can tell you guys I think are going to love it there since you like Ecuador so much and there are so many small towns, mountains and water. not so tourist commercialized. and the people are so friendly. Itchy Boots on YT has been riding through the mountains of Columbia and Ecuador. Cool to see. I'm really happy for you guys on this next excursion: enjoy each day. wonderful experience.

    Flan: it is a custard style dish made with eggs & milk. Beyond that it is entirely dependent on the region as to what they might add.
    Pipián in Mexico usually consists of 20+ spices, but usually had a base of puréed sesame seeds and/or nuts. Did it taste like that could’ve been the base for the pipián that you tried? I am curious to know.

    Hi first time watching, nice video editing.
    Check out Cathedral ruins like 'Covento de Capuchinas' or at the main park at the back of the 'Cathedral' right side you can enter for ruins.
    Please try Jocón (green sauce chicken) and Hilachas (red sauce meat). The sauce makes such a different dish. To drink search for Horchata or Rosa de Jamaica.
    Antigua still show's the heritage after Spanish Colonization mixed with the native Mayan Culture.
    Have a great time, exploring.
    and Bienvenidos !

    Is 100% plant based food (vegan) available. If I asked for "Vegano comida" would it be understood?

    • @EricandSarah
      @EricandSarah  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends where you go! You can definitely ask for that. Usually you have to specify that things are made sin queso, sin carne, sin pollo if you’re ordering at an average restaurant. But there are plenty of places that have a vegan menu

    Chicken can be eaten with fork and knife 🍴 or with the fingers. For table manners, one excuses oneself for eating the chicken with the fingers…! For people who doesn’t know how to properly eat chicken with fork and knife, advice to practice at home several times or until one manages to eat the chicken with fork and knife… flawlessly…!!!
    On street eating… fingers and hand are allowed…!!!! When visiting foreign countries, the food is nothing like home cooking or type of food..!!!! Some food maybe satisfying… some food not be satisfying…!! One can not like everything…!!

    You are not testing the real soul of our food, please find regular family and live with them for 2 - 3 days maybe a week if you want, you will enjoy the real flavor of our Gatamalan moms... That will blow your mind.... the food from antigua is like your McDonald's hamburger.... tastes good but is not a real one, just take into consideration my advice to get the real culture food from my land.

    Yeah. Those ears of corn taste delicious because they are not sweet corn. Next time try revolcado de puerco and panza en recado. There is a beef version of Pepián though. Welcome to GT.

    ¿Eating that kind of pupusa with a plastic fork? Just grab the pupusa with your fingers, fold it and eat it like the way they eat a slice of pizza in NY.

    I've been eating pupusas since I was a little kid.. it's like saying that ceviche it's from peru..so pupusas are not just el Salvador.. all Guatemalans can attest to that.
