    Next time with using bait try using a bobber to keep it out of the rocks.

      Thanks for the tip. I've never seen any locals use a bobber but that's definitely a smart move. I've mostly switched to spearfishing but will bring some bobbers next time just in case.

      @DrifterJourney We did thus run in 2009. Yhe road was all dirt...no pavement.

      @@happyinparadise7812that probably made it a lot longer......unless it's a bad pothole year with the pavement.

    Thanks for the video of a fun trip! Did you see anyone selling gasoline in Agua Verde? I'm going by small boat and would like to buy some gas there if possible. thanks

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! I don't think anyone was selling gas regularly, but the locals have cars and fishing boats, so I would expect there's some around that they might be willing to sell you. Sorry I can't be more helpful! Enjoy your adventure!

      @happyinparadise7812 I think we were informed about it but the van wouldn't make it. Luckily we'll have a truck down there next time to explore more.

    We have anchored our boats in Agua Verde several times. Most gorgeous water! The road getting there though 🥺

      The water is very pretty! I imagine getting there by boat would be much nicer! Seems like the town started as boat access only and then the road was an afterthought!

      Thanks for watching! It can be fairly narrow in places but luckily there isn't much traffic. I'd say uphill has the right of way so they can keep moving.

      It's a pretty neat spot. There are 2 taco "restaurants" down there but we had a bunch of food that was about to go bad. We'll definitely dabble in the local food next time we end up there.

    looks like you were there in March April...fishing not so great during that time frame. In the 70's you would have not made it with the Sprinter as grading was not often. I've caught Jack Crevelle like crazy with light tackle, even Mepps spinners, any chrome on those rock points..

    Any problems getting out of Aqua Verde? Particularly that first steep incline. Also have a ProMaster.

    • @DrifterJourney

      We were aired down and made it out ok. There are a couple sections where you definitely need momentum to get through because the dirt is loose and washed out from other people skidding out.. The hard part about giving recommendations is that the road probably changes all of the time depending on weather and other drivers who go through. We haven't been down there this season so no idea what the road looks like right now.

    In the hopes of helping the community we are seeking views. Can people not go and enjoy a locale, take photos, ansorb it in your own way, really live it ? It seems anymore without posting it online ? I am an old man now of 38 I guess. Just the title itself, you don't find that offensive? Ach. I don't see this as the same as telling folks the best restaurant in loreto or beach in conception. "People asked us not to share this". Not every location needs to be broadcast? I'm really not attempting to be rude, but I think helping to advertise a location like that with a very limited water supply and no septic facilities doesn't need more vanlifers descending upon them without some input from the people who live there. A lot of tourists have very little common sense, think of eventually crowds coming there and overwhelming the little town? The road goes in and out of repair. I'm ranting but can you think about this ?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and for the thoughtful comment. I may be mistaken but I thought we said in the video that the locals asked us to send our friends. If not, that was definitely supposed to be in there. We have found several small towns in Baja that many tourists say not to share or talk about. It's odd because every time we ask the locals, their response is to send more people. It feels like tourists want to keep the secrets so it stays small and the locals want the tourists to bring in more money........which should hopefully lead to more infrastructure/ wealth for the communities. We will always side with the opinion of the locals over what people think we should do on the internet. We also find it kind of crappy of people (not saying you specifically......just generalizing what we get from some) to be selfish and not want these places to grow if the people that live there want it. I went and rewatched to double check. Check out 13:16 in the video.

      @@DrifterJourney yes, I saw this. Your partner said "saw signs, camp donations send tourists". I'm an American so again I'm not speaking for anyone there. You saw the infrastructure there, yeah? Sometimes if you've been told to keep things quiet there is a reason, if gringos who know people there spoke with you, or you have spoken with locals? I've been asked very nicely after I got to know people to stay off of certain beaches at times in other small areas. I don't know why I'm bothering you with this other than to maybe just consider that large numbers of gringos isn't always a good thing when there are no facilities for septic or drinking water. Yes, I understand you go for a vanlife crowd but I've amazed by people many times in the boonies and their lack of prep, not even burying poo etc. It is really none of my business, but I just implore you consider this. Ask the people that live there. Ask the people at the store! Get to know people! See how they feel before it is splashed all over the web. One person putting a sign out on their land doesn't speak for everyone, just like up north. I'll get off my high horse but please consider ? Have a great day.

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really do appreciate your thoughts on this. Not everyone treats places responsibly. The signs were along a long stretch of the main beach. You could be correct about other locals not feeling the same way. As for waste......we packed out everything we brought in including our shit (bucket poops for life). It still all ends up somewhere though and there are many beaches hurting from poop in Baja among other places. Water....same. We brought in everything we needed. I did see a desalination plant so they have that covered if it works. This will always be a gray area and luckily we're getting a more capable rig so the places we share in the future will be harder to get to.
