She recorded a remake of Billie Holliday’s “That Ole’ Devil Called Love” in 1985 and blew us all away. It was a blues standard. She also had hits with “All Cried Out” and “Love Resurrection.”
"Is This Love" by Alison Moyet and also agree with the "Love Resurrection" comments love that instrumental reminds me of something youd hear in an 80s movie so nostalgic
I saw Alf doing a gig in Bilericky b4 she was in Yazoo she was brilliant I'd love to be able to say I thought she would be as big a start as she became but there were a hell of a lot of good bands that never made it sadly
Sometimes we Americans aren’t aware of how popular some of the British artists are. Alison’s worldwide album sales have reached a certified 23 million, with over two million singles sold. All nine of her studio albums and three compilation albums have charted in the top 30 of the UK Albums Chart, with two of them reaching number one. She has also achieved nine top 30 singles and six top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart. Her most recent album, her ninth, Other, was released 16 June 2017. She’s an icon.
America has missed out on some of the best music and artists of the last 60 years ... utube is allowing Americans to see just what they missed, especially UK music which has been the best during those 60 years
Hi Guys greetings from England 🇬🇧 Alison Moyet has been a solo singer in The UK since 1984 and she truly is a great singer with such a powerful voice and Alison is still going strong and performing across The UK and you should check out her singing the song "LOVE LETTERS" which really shows off Alisons voice.
I'm so glad you finally got to Alison Moyet's solo work. She is incredible, and still making music today. If you really want to see the blusey/jazzy side to her, listen to her cover of That Ole Devil Called Love. Other great songs are All Cried Out, Love Resurrection, Twisting the Knife, Is This Love. I could go on, but those are the highlights.
Wow, well this is a very pleasant surprise! Alison is one of the cooler voices from the 80s, and responsible for one of the biggest dance tracks of that decade - "Situation", recorded when she was part of the group Yaz (or Yazoo). This first solo single is my favorite recording of hers, still gives me the feels. Great reaction as always!
This is my jam and I couldn't click fast enough when I saw the thumbnail. Honey For The Bees, For You Only, Love Resurrection and All Cried Out are bangers!!! I'm amazed she and Yaz/Yazoo weren't bigger.
This has to be one of my "mostest favoritest" songs not just of the 80's but of all time! Alison Moyet is so underrated it's shameful. "Is This Love", "Whispering Your Name", "All Cried Out".
Absolutely stunning artist. No reality tv, no doing things for "likes", not having to mold yourself to look "good" for the camera. Just pure vocal talent & skill. Brilliant artist indeed. Absolutely love "weak in the presence of beauty" too. Great choice.👌🏻😍
Thank you for that Amber and Jay, Alison Moyet, along with Annie Lennox, had the most powerful, strongest voices of the 80's. 👍🏻♥️🙏 God Bless You Both and your families
Alison Moyet and another of your favourites, Lisa Stansfield, are two of our best English singers. Another shout for these two by Alison: All Cried Out and Love Resurrection.
Loved me some Alison Moyet!! An incredible voice who never got the recognition she deserved. Love you Alison ❤!!! And I was a Metal Head when I listened to you! 🤘😝🤟👊🏼
She’s a Beautiful woman she’s got the best smile ever and she comes across as really nice in interviews and that voice amazing I’ve been a fan for a long time.
Been suggesting Moyet’s solo work forever! Ty Amber! And literally just in time for my birthday Sunday. Best present ever, a trip down my high school nostalgia lane. She belts this one out like no other could. 😊
Alison Moyet performing on Live Aid with Paul Young - you must see her performance to millions around the world on that great day Saturday 13 July 1985
One of the UK’s best female vocalists. Her voice is impeccable. The depth the growl. Just takes me right back to my youth listening to Sundays Radio 1 Top 40 countdowns. Taping the songs I loved. 🇬🇧❤️
You should listen to her songs with Yazoo from the 80’s, a duo with Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode & Erasure). Try their huge hit “Only You”. Their album “Upstairs at Eric’s” is full of hits that helped shape the 80’s New Wave scene.
This song is from Alison Moyet's album "ALF" which went to number 1 in the UK. It's one of the best 80's album's up their with Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell", Men at Work's "Business As Usual", Roxy Music "Avalon", Spandau Ballet "True" and Split Enz "Waiata" (Split Enz became Crowded House). If you really want to immerse yourself in 80's music those are the albums to listen to.

ALL CRIED OUT ....and LOVE RESURRECTION great tunes back in the day and played them to death, and still sounds amazing today, such a Voice , these 2 songs need a listen for sure
I loved this song. It came out after I had my baby, and, she too, had just had a baby. She was struggling with her career and motherhood and her relationship and you could hear it all in that song.
One of Britains greatest female singers.
Along with Annie Lennox
The real deal
Alison Moyet - *ALL CRIED OUT* and/or *LOVE RESURRECTION*
All cried out…love it
Plus Ordinary Girl, a real banger!

‘All Cried Out’ is a must. So glad you’ve found her.
She recorded a remake of Billie Holliday’s “That Ole’ Devil Called Love” in 1985 and blew us all away. It was a blues standard. She also had hits with “All Cried Out” and “Love Resurrection.”
And Jay and Amber, the musical arrangement you will absolutely love.
With a remake of Gladys Knight and the Pips' "Don't Burn Down the Bridges" on the B-side. Both are still in heavy rotation on ALL my playlists.
Alison was the singer with the band Yazoo. Her voice is incredible!
And....she looks PHENOMENAL now....and her voice is still the same. Really! She is that good!
Yep … she looks great and the voice has aged beautifully. Ino her last 2 albums were probably the best of her career.
I haven’t heard this song in ages. One of my favorites at the time 😊
"Is This Love" by Alison Moyet and also agree with the "Love Resurrection" comments love that instrumental reminds me of something youd hear in an 80s movie so nostalgic
Jay & Amber, you'll Love her "Love Resurrection" !!!
Yes a great song
Yes.
Agreed!
They were Yazoo in Europe and Yaz in the U.S.
Always on my Shuffle!
Great song with very suggestive lyrics! 🙂
My mum went to an Alison Moyet concert in the 80's and she's still talking about how great it was.
I would have loved that. 😁
I saw Alf doing a gig in Bilericky b4 she was in Yazoo she was brilliant I'd love to be able to say I thought she would be as big a start as she became but there were a hell of a lot of good bands that never made it sadly

I still have this album "ALF". It was an excellent album. To think it's 40 years ago this year it came out. I was 22 years old.

I always liked this song in how she conveys her hurt and tearing apart inside.
I LOVED Alison, like Annie Lennox, two brilliant female vocalists of the era ❤
Have suggested this and waited for it! An absolutely fantastic voice! Didn’t always get the recognition she deserved.
For me as young teenager Yazoo was all about the music.
Alison Moyet was all about her incredible voice.
