I grew up listening to John Mayall while traveling across the US and into Alaska with my mom. She took me to see him when I graduated from college as a surprise to me. She’s gone now, too. I’d like to think that she’s up there and she’s listening to him play.
The authentic, genius, creator of modern rock and roll. There is before and after John Mayall. Heavens is a happier since you took your place there. May God bless you John. ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
thanks Christian. Mr. Mayall greeting everyone at the door as they came in. He signed autographs and took photos. He was there for almost two hours, even during the opening bands set. He is a very gracious man...and looking great for 79 years old.
bluzdudemi I saw him 20 years ago and he still thought he was a major star, he was arrogant and very unfriendly, glad he changed, he is a significant figure in blues history
Today I just had the CD set of his early years in the mail. So I am listening half day to his music now. I saw him first in 1998. I was 18 or 19 that time. He was in town, he was a legend so I went not knowing much about him. I had or or two CDs of him, and also took the covers in case... I was early, came in fist in the concert hall and he was sitting right in the middle selling his CDs.. For me a bit surprising, that the star of the show just sits in the middle or the place and greets the fans. I was a bit shy that time and confused and just said Hi and went to the first row. After some other people came in an talked with him I really believed it was HIM and I went back and got my autograph. 🤣He even congratulated me on my taste, because I had a very old album of him. He gave a great concert and people didn't stop clapping, so when the concert was already finished and the encore was over, but the people didn't go, he came out again and did two solo numbers. Such a great guy!
A REAL LEGEND!!! I'm French and he has been my father's favorite... We saw him together in Alençon like in a dream and today I still listening to him with a great pleasure! I kept the drummers' sticks!
...wow! Sensational, visceral! Every live performance by John Mayall and his lineup of musicians will always be a grand, enjoyable musical journey assured. Applause!..
he belongs in the Rock and Roll of fame , he is a legend and a wonderful gentleman,my boyfriend and I saw at Summer fest In Milwaukee Wisconsin ,he brought the house down, he was very gracious when I asked him for an autograph after the show
I saw J. Mayall in Roma the 5th of july 1981 .i remember very well cause that day was mi mother birthday...some jerk stoled Mayall harmonicas set box and Jhon stopped the concert...he was right.
Thank you John Mayall. you taught me so much, just by listening for all these years. You are truly one one the great harmonica players, let that be known.
Greg rzab One of my favorite bass players Saw him with mayall around this time Still have the pick he gave me Also with buddy guy a few years earlier He did a wicked solo with lots of effects
been listening to THE GRANDFATHER OF BRITISH BLUES for 45 years at least and NEVER get tired of listening to the Blues , seen him in Wellington N.Z in the early '70's with Ginger Baker and once with Keef Hartley left both concerts feeling amped ,-) has had some of Britains Top names in his bands over the years ,-)
One time Jagger said talking about him: his groups are as a blues and tecnical university, all the artists that played with him are as an graduates in blues....
This is great stuff!! I bought The Turning Point album when it first came out. It was Johnny Almond's killer saxsolo that haunted me. It was so long ago but it moves me today.
John was the main man to get me into the harp.An unsung hero in that sphere and I have heard most of them. And English too.Who said we can`t play?Jim.Liverpool.
Many thanks for the upload. I too got Turning Point as one of my first albums, along with BB King. If I'd have known he was playing that night at Callahan's I'd have called in sick. I did see Mayall at a small club in Boulder when I lived there in 80's and also at a large crowd at Portland Blues Festival a few years later.
With all due respect, the best version of this is from The Turning Point, the album with Jon Mark and Johnny Almond, which launched their short but great career together. IMHO, of course.
great timeless classic tune i jus heard for the 1st x in ten yrs cuz i remembered his name and that he had this gem that i'll always love a dynamite song
It's always problematic to claim something is best. This version is so far from the best, it doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in comparison to the best.
Seventy nine years old here ?!! I’m 70 and I get winded going up a single flight of stairs and here he is seemingly performing without breathing.

I'm so glad I saw him live, not too many years back. God bless him.
Father of the British and American Blues.

RIP❤. Another great gone but your music will live on.
Rip dear John Mayall... I will never forget you and your great music ❤
Still cooking...after all these years, used to support the band at the Marquee Club in 68- 69...close up and sweaty evenings!
A legend of the blues..
R.I.P. John. Thank you for the 50 years I was able to spend with your music
have the 1969 LP -- was listening to it today
I think this superceeds the turning point version. 45 years later live and coaxing the bass player into a lifetime live performance. sublime.
Love the scat..forgot about it...it's the hidden gem.

He was going to be inducted into the R&R hall of fame this year but sadly didn't make it. RIP❤

John Mayall, a real Legend.
I saw (and heard, duh) John Mayall live circa 1972 for free at Alfred University in Alfred, New York. Even as an old Fart, he still kicks butt.
The harp solo alone is worth a listen. John Mayall still sounds and looks great.
thank you for the comment on my video. I think this is the most watched, ''Room To Move'' video.
The father of British blues.
+Barbara Harney
godfather!
I love your music. I will miss you.
Thank you John Mayall. you taught me so much, just by listening for all these years. You are truly one one the great harmonica players, let that be known.

Heard this yesterday when I was on motorway and got me smiling. Class tune
Unbelievable! What a great performer is John.
he's so fucking awesome... 1968, I found almost all the American collection and the best was still yet to come :)
Jhon Mayall: a banquet in blue, forever...
Harmonica and Onomatopées it's crazy like him TOP MYTHIC

Nice credit to Mick Taylor!
This is great stuff!! I bought The Turning Point album when it first came out. It was Johnny Almond's killer saxsolo that haunted me. It was so long ago but it moves me today.

For the best version you have to be in the audience
As the saying goes"Young
enough to kick your butt and
old enough to know better"

Omg. The hermonica playing. On 🔥. Great song. 🍀
Rest in peace John (7/22/24)
Köszönöm szépen király volt.
This has got to be the song that he's most famous for 🤣🥳🤪🥾😹😹😹
Lots of great stuff here. One thing that struck me was the stamina and concentration of the guy in back.
John makes that harp sing!
Brings back memories....❤
Oh, he is great, real legend!
John was the main man to get me into the harp.An unsung hero in that sphere and I have heard most of them. And English too.Who said we can`t play?Jim.Liverpool.
This song always fascinated me. In the end i realize that it was because John Mayall made that little harp a coequal musical instrument to the violin.
Nice to see & hear that classic and famous piece of Rock-Music in a fresh Callahan's Version! Thanks & Cheers!
WOW!!! Excellent
Thats Mister MAYALL on this best.. so great i like, so thanks !!
