happyjack880 just because it’s a prisoner transport unit doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to pickup a prisoner, it could’ve been that they are- 1. They are responding to pick up a prisoner that is going batshit crazy and is actively being combative with officers like fighting with them or kicking the back window of the patrol car out. 2. They are responding to assist officers since the officers that staff this unit are your basic patrol officers just assigned to the prisoner transport detail. 3. They themselves have a prisoner that is going batshit crazy in the back and they are responding to central booking, hospital etc.. there’s many more possibilities but these are the main three I’m thinking of
I don't think that's prisoner transport, most depts use vans and don't run lights and sirens because they don't need to. That's most likely something similar to the NYPD's ESU, like some sort of SWAT equipment truck
Chris Hansen oh ok. Here in PA you don't really see any SWAT vehicles much, unless you live in a city. But some departments use vehicles like that and/or UPS-style trucks. A lot of departments are poorly staffed and poorly funded where I'm at so a lot of SWAT responses are done by the PA State Police.
Chris Hansen we have something similar in some areas. It's mostly a county thing, a lot of counties with a bunch of small depts will have a county wide ERT that can include officers from each department plus deputies the sheriff's department, but for the most part in the lesser populated ares or in NEPA where the towns/county might not have the funding to have a County ERT, the State Police will have their own SERT. The PSP is the primary LE organization for 65% of the state. Over half of our state has a small department or no department at all. The State Police have full and partial coverage of most of the state
I kind of feel they've wasted some money on the rear modules for the lightbar...since there's a massive prisoner cage box blocking the back of it...
SomeBloke8895 idk id there are front only lightbar
There are, and when purchasing a Whelen Liberty, you pay per module.
I was wondering about that myself. It's possible that it came off another vehicle such as one that was in an accident. I don't know.
Nice catch
Nice video!
Why would a prisoner transport unit need to run lights and siren? To pick up a prisoner(s)??
