Beleive it or not Bryan, it's actually illegal to use a bicycle bell in Japan which astounds me, here in Australia, if you don't have a bicycle bell, it's over $100 fine if stopped by police. as well if you don't wear a helmet, it's a $319 fine.
David Johnston - There’s very few things about Japan that astound me anymore. But since the government is covering healthcare costs in Australia, I can understand why they’d mandate helmets. Life in Vietnam is totally different from Japan, most people here are dirt poor. You going to need a lot of adjustments. The good thing about Vietnam is that everything are cheap. My monthly budget is $350 a month, that living in a nice hotel with AC on 24/7 and I eat out everyday. In Saigon, everything is more expensive, but not too much. If you make decent money from the internet than Vietnam is a better fit for you. Because its doesn't cost much to live here. You can also teach english in Vietnam. Japan is a beautiful place. It's a pity you could'nt stay. Maybe you'l find a part time job. Getting rid of excess stuff is a challenge. I've been unsuccessful in my effort to do so.
Speaking of toilets, I was under the assumption that the majority of Japanese homes had Toto style bidet toilets? I'm sure that Japan didn't see the levels of toilet paper frenzy buying that we did here in North America. It was absolutely ridiculous here in Toronto. I'm glad to see you out riding. We can still ride here, but unfortunately I had a fall and broke a bone in my hand and can't ride now, so I'll have to keep watching you and Thuong ride for my motivation! Hang in there, and take care!
@@TwoWheelCruise interesting that they are a luxury item in Japan where they are so common! Here in the US they are around $30 to buy on Amazon. I've been seeing a lot of posts about them bc of the toilet paper frenzy....
You probably know this anyway as you know to practice social distancing but as COVID19 is not airborne, best things to do are hand washing, using hand sanitizer (with over 60% alcohol content) after you've touched stuff outside and try not to touch your face when outside. Stay safe.
Yeah it's getting worse here in the us we are actually trying to see if we can go to Taiwan to live we been in contact with family there and they say its ok there but there is few places that are still close so we don't know what to do but just stay in our cage
OMG, those kids rolling and running all over the place is waiting for an accident to happen. O_O I noticed Thuong-chan wears mask while cycling but are you also wearing one too? Any mask that covers your nose and face will be better than not having a mask; 100% cotton which shirts are normally made out of, filters 70% particle debris although hepa filter normally found in vacuum bags, does a much better job as a DIY face mask. The CDC and others who are supporting their claims, said that the paper surgical mask do not work and ask people not to buy them. They lied because they were trying to deter people from buying mask which the hospitals needed, but are now telling everyone to wear mask if you go to public place; some parts in the US like a certain county in Texas starts fining people for not covering their face with some sort of mask. They are now changing their tune and encouraging everyone to wear mask even home made when you go out in public. What a time we live in..... Stay safe and healthy.. :)
Most kids in parks in Japan are like this LOL I'm not wearing a mask, but I am covering my mouth/nose with my neck warmer to use it as a mask. There is so much disinformation going around from governments and leaders and flip flopping, it's ridiculous.. 😑
@@TwoWheelCruise that will do. I have a balaclava which covers entire face so I'll use that when I go bike commuting when I need to. Yea I agree, the disinformation is all over the place.
Jesus, like the parents really do not watch over what their kids are doing in traffic. You have to use the pedestrian crossing, when a pedestrian is actually using bike crossing. That is as messed up as here in Finland. There are travel restrictions in Finland and they mostly concern the capital region, so if someone is implementing a super long bike trip from the south end of the country to the north end, this is not the time. Also, there are ways more people in parks than usual. Many of the city people have fled to countryside and the government is urging them to return. In the cities, there is less traffic in the streets than usual, mostly people walking their dogs and families.
I apologize - it's been a LONG time since I've tuned into your channel, even though I get all notifications. I had no idea you had all these life changes going on, haven't been paying attention to video titles I guess. Just want to offer encouragement as you approach a major life change. Like you, I met my (Japanese) wife in Japan, got married in Japan, lived in Japan for a while but then moved back to my country - Long Island, New York, USA. That was back in 2008. Since my wife's family all over in Utsunomiya in Tochigi, our connection to Japan is still strong and we go there pretty much every year for a month in the summer. The jury's still out on whether or not it's possible to visit Japan and see her family this summer though. I don't want to be doom and gloom, but you guys could be stuck there for a LONG time. Keep an eye out for website or other remote work you can do from home, even temp stuff. Incredibly unfortunate timing with your life plans being totally stopped due to Covid. Hang in there and YES, please social distance. I'm convinced it's spreading all over Japan and the public does not know it. They just purposely dragged their feet with testing just like you-know-who did over here. My perspective is that of a New Yorker, keep in mind - but take care of you and Thuong - stay away from crowds. I was cringing so hard watching this, not just that you guys were there but that everyone in Japan is walking around like things are normal. Had Japan been locked down since February and closed the country off, then MAYBE the few cases that were in the country could have been isolated and the spread stopped. But we're way beyond that now. It's silently going through Japan just like it's going through the US right now. I'm very very worried for my wife's parents who are in their 70's and are a high risk demographic. I hate to say it Cruise but this thing is just getting started. Wishing you and Thuong all the best and I'll keep up to date with your new videos.
Hi Brian, welcome back and thanks for the input! I'm starting to make preparations to potentially be here for a bit longer than we expected. My biggest concern is after 3 months I may need to find a new job to avoid deportation, and that would not be ideal if the cases continue to rise with no counter measure. Japan's response has been very irresponsible and I also worry things may get much worse very soon, but let's hope it does not come to that.. At least for now, thank goodness I didn't put in my notice of leave to our apartment and we are well equipped to survive for a few months.. I hope things stay safe for you and your family as well!
Believe me, I know.. Thuong and I cycled from Da Nang to Hoi An on cheap rentals, I got food poisoning, had no where to go, and she had to tow me all the way back.. th-cam.com/video/rr18P14F448/w-d-xo.html
You can always trust Washington Post of Watergate fame and The New York Times of The Pentagon Papers. Remember “Democracy dies in the dark and silence” is their motto. Quite a few almost accidents with the kids. :-).
Oh wow, you reminded me about bike touring in Vietnam and the problem of having a pee - the Mekong Valley is so open and exposed and with such a high population I rode for countless miles just to find a bush or a tree I could hop behind. I remember also on a long bus trip and a Chinese girl next to me begged me to ask the bus driver to stop so she could have a pee. The driver just stopped right where we were... on a twisty mountain road. The men got out and peed over the edge, the Chinese girl glared at me as if it was my fault there was nowhere for women....
Can you get government support with your money issue ??? Like universal credit ?I'm definitely on the same level with you as to not trusting what the government is telling us. Whether it's America , Japan, China, or any other country. There are darker scenarios , that we don't know of yet.
@@TwoWheelCruise Good luck ! I wish for you guys to make it to Vietnam , after this "pandemic" dies out ! I on the other hand had an injury , I might've torn or stretched my LCL during a football game 1 month ago. Today I went to practices free kicks by myself and my knee gave out on me. Getting rid of excess stuff is a challenge. I've been unsuccessful in my effort to do so.
That's the next big challenge..
“Is there social distancing?” Clearly not... haha
😬
Stay safe always
Thanks! :)
why vietnam though ?

Speaking of toilets, I was under the assumption that the majority of Japanese homes had Toto style bidet toilets? I'm sure that Japan didn't see the levels of toilet paper frenzy buying that we did here in North America. It was absolutely ridiculous here in Toronto.
I'm glad to see you out riding. We can still ride here, but unfortunately I had a fall and broke a bone in my hand and can't ride now, so I'll have to keep watching you and Thuong ride for my motivation!
Hang in there, and take care!
Thanks! I wouldn't say a majority have them, it's more of a luxury item, but they are fairly common I guess..
Hope the hand heals up soon!
@@TwoWheelCruise interesting that they are a luxury item in Japan where they are so common! Here in the US they are around $30 to buy on Amazon. I've been seeing a lot of posts about them bc of the toilet paper frenzy....
The title couldn't get any depressed than this lol
😅
I feel like a fixed gear bike would be nice to ride in Japan.
It is! :)
With a beautiful wife like that,...I can think of other ways of passing the time....
Life in London is just as edgy with the busy parks you'd be so surprised.
:(
You probably know this anyway as you know to practice social distancing but as COVID19 is not airborne, best things to do are hand washing, using hand sanitizer (with over 60% alcohol content) after you've touched stuff outside and try not to touch your face when outside. Stay safe.
To be clear Covid19 IS airborne.
Yeah it's getting worse here in the us we are actually trying to see if we can go to Taiwan to live we been in contact with family there and they say its ok there but there is few places that are still close so we don't know what to do but just stay in our cage
Taiwan is probably one of the best places to be right now..
Yes ! We go there every year in July. We are trying to see if we can fly there.
In Malaysia, we cannot go cycling.. 😢.Lockdown because covid-19
Stay safe!
Aichi is 4th As of April 4
Aichi 221 cases
Chiba 241
Osaka 387
Tokyo 891
Wash your hands and gargle.
😑
Ride Safe....🚴♂️🚴♀️
Thanks!
If you got bow, you are able to shoot down that helicopter like John Rambo
lol
Japan is clearly underreporting cases and is doing minimal testing. Be careful.
Most likely :/
Buena suerte
comos dias! :)
do a fishing video :) 🐟
I really need to take her fishing one day..
OMG, those kids rolling and running all over the place is waiting for an accident to happen. O_O
I noticed Thuong-chan wears mask while cycling but are you also wearing one too?
Most kids in parks in Japan are like this LOL
I'm not wearing a mask, but I am covering my mouth/nose with my neck warmer to use it as a mask.
In 10 years I want to have a wife that will be saying I'm her nr 1 hobby!
😅
If you want to feel safer, ditch the public parks and hit the dirt trails!
Yes, but no sakura there 😅
super park the tree or so super
N.Y.C. Is getting extreme.
Stay safe!
No public toilets in Vietnam, good luck 😉
I got so sick in vn that I suspected them of deliberately poisoning me.
Those kids were all way too energetic haha.
There also seem to be some more modern not so dark and silent ways to kill a Democracy lately 😅
OMG... Actually, that sounds about right with the current situation 😅
Can you get government support with your money issue ??? Like universal credit ?I'm definitely on the same level with you as to not trusting what the government is telling us. Whether it's America , Japan, China, or any other country. There are darker scenarios , that we don't know of yet.
Nothing from Japan, but I might get the stimulus payment from the US.. Maybe?
@@TwoWheelCruise Good luck ! I wish for you guys to make it to Vietnam , after this "pandemic" dies out !
I on the other hand had an injury , I might've torn or stretched my LCL during a football game 1 month ago.
Today I went to practices free kicks by myself and my knee gave out on me. I felt the same pain as the first time when it happened .I was on the ground clutching my right leg. The pain was excruciating.
Because of this virus thing I can't get an MRI to investigate the condition of the ligament.I can't get into a hospital.
I hope I can still cycle on Monday, I need to go to my job.
It's hard , I feel like I'm half of what I used to be .
Wear your masks and wash your hands. You're really going to miss Japan once you leave. I know I miss it every day.
No government is this world is transparent. Never.
Keep doing what you do best and what you love
Life is a road keep on rolling the path will take you some place you wanted the most

Haha, that should solve it. Not quite ready to go daily yet, but maybe once we move..
obviously not a good idea to ride in a park with lots of unsupervised children on wheels.
