That thumbnail is very Dr.Evil
Freakin lasers
Very fitting
Now we just need a Mini Marc 😂
I was going to post just that. Lmao
Whoever picked that thumbnail deserves a raise.
I had to read the comments just to see if anyone mentioned Dr. Evil.
That is totally why I'm here.
Why are you watching if you have to say something so childish. Civility starts with all of us.

When Conehead speaks I listen
Yes...he is brilliant.

Great content, thank you!
I should play this video at 1.25 instead of 1.5 cause Marc Andreesen speaks so fast

I had to go down to 1.5 from 2.0

Chill , stop calling the legendary founder of the first Web Browser Dr Evil guys
Netscape Navigator. Loved those early days.
Wasn't the first Web Browser
@@Jack-2day He was at the heart of building Mosaic at school before Netscape, too! That one was the first graphical web browser with any significant usage (as opposed to a research project only used within a single team).
@@alchemist_one my point still stands, there is only one’ first’. Cheers
And :
- Google wasn’t the first search engine
- iPhone wasn’t the first smartphone
- Tesla isn’t the first electric car
- ChatGPT wasn’t the first LLM
Being first isn’t as important as being the one who does it best , and has the biggest impact
Looked at the thumbnail once and I started looking around for Minnie me.

What a strange thing to interject.

So…if 21 century warfare is effectively played as a videogame…why not simply do all warfare in videogames? And have abundance and peace in the physical world? Could AI help us with that?
Was thinking along the same lines. If AI achieves sentience it may not let us have wars. )
@@petersoakell6950 This is missing the point totally 🙁 AI will NOT develop sentience or have any opinion about anything. But humans have sentience, and we COULD realize right now the total absurdity of having these wars in the first place. The insanity of building expensive drones to fight other drones, when it would be much easier to begin to organise for a peaceful and abundant society, where we could do all the killing in videogames instead.
I love the idea! It's a bit like in Troy - instead of two armies fighting, pick a champion and only they fight. Drastically reduce the suffering. Unfortunately no-none will follow the rules if they lose 😢
Video game wars make sense when you're fighting over things that are in video games
Three key points:
- 1:20 Whether computers should be designed as we understand them today or based on the human brain. Eventually 99% computers are designed for what they are today.
- 20:30 The good thing about AI is that we are rolling it out in a very democratic way, compared to the PC revolution where it started out from a million dollar main frame trickle down to what it is today.
- 30:57 are those businesses (foundational model companies) a raise to monopoly and infinite profits because the best models or they actually a rise to the bottom because of the opposite of Moores law?

Pitching to him would be crazy cause you’d need to talk real fast!
He’s a genius

He is only one who speaks super fast and super clearly and in a soothing voice. I saw others try to imitate him but end up being very irritating.
A public cloud/GPU cluster should be available so that everyone should be able to use it and train whatever they want and everyone can have “Multiple AIs”.
With the AI paradigm shift I guess people need to have a guarantee for a means of survival also without having a job, and that they have extra free time. Current intellectual and creative jobs also have boring repetitive time consuming tasks. AI is an opportunity and new way of life to continuously learn, explore and be more creative.
ozempic marc be hitting different
literally Dr. Evil
I think in the future movies is going to be a mix of real footage mixed with video generation from ai models. so they blend in 2 worlds at the same time.
Deterministic vs Probabilistic computers. Cush!! in the drive train. Air tires made motor sports happen. Springs and shock absorbers gave us traction. If Humanity were wiped out after a bad election - do you think AI would rise to take its place? Would they be kings and diplomats? Would there be - an Architect?

Marc might be intelligent, but his comment about maybe China could help the US leap frog with our collect health data, shows me to never trust or use his AI version. Even though the world leaders want all nation states to collect and utilize their information for AI healthcare, his comment struck differently. Marc lost my respect right there.
Russian's have used ten's of thousands of drones on Ukrainian tanks, APC's and other vehicles. Russia has also used long and medium range drones en masse, where Ukraine has not.

Came here to hear about Dr Evil
5D AI designs for emotion and feeling with love upgraded to compassion wisdomly full of knowledges
Most humans who earn high salaries are in knowledge work (i.e., doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, managers).
Very shortly, all of that work will be assisted by AI. Then soon, it will be replaced by AI. Good luck, everyone. 👈
The new "learn to code" will be "learn to x" (x being some form of physical labor), which will lead to massive competition for far fewer jobs, which will lead to far lower wages and benefits.
Definitely going to be interesting.
@@tracy419 I totally agree. I also think we will see a massive, global organized labor movement.
As the wages slips away, people will demand work. In history, you can see the rise of labor movements whenever work is automated.
@@haze1123 I wonder what that looks like in the end? What do you think labor will look like if people band together with what's coming?
I'm not sure the things that used to happen will be how it turns out.
Short term, things like better minimum wages and benefits are a good idea and these groups help make it happen.
But when jobs start disappearing by the millions, I'm not sure those wages can be continued.
It seems like we need some real flexibility at this point in time so that the artificially higher wages (I don't mean unjustified, just forced) of today aren't keeping costs artificially higher as things become more automated.
Maybe we get some form of UBI, maybe we have the remaining jobs split into shorter shifts so that more people can continue working, maybe a combination?
My only concern with people organizing to get better wages and benefits going forward is, are they also thinking about what happens when all of a sudden there are 3 people available for every job out there, and are willing to work for less so they can afford more than just the basic necessities?
Sorry for the rambling. This is a topic I don't see getting enough attention, and I never see anyone discussing what happens to those in unions when the jobs start disappearing. How do they adapt to what's coming? Will they be relevant in that world? Will they adjust downward in wages to compete with others?
@@tracy419 I'm just imagining here, because no one knows... At first, there will be massive and powerful labor movements. Government will respond with high taxation and UBI. But people will not be satisfied because the human animal is designed for work. So these interventions will fail for many people. It won't be satisfactory. Some people will band together in small groups and break away into self-sufficient farming communities. They will reject technology to some extent and seek to protect their children from AI and robotics (new age Amish). Others will accept their government checks and live among the robots in abundance, spending all of their free time on various forms of incredibly immersive entertainment and drugs that extend life, regulate mood, and promote fitness.
@@haze1123 interesting thoughts, thanks.
I kinda like the idea of bringing sustainability to the population centers and creating work maintaining it.
So as technology improves, move most transportation including people, products and waste underground.
Convert most roads and parking into food forest parks that provide food, wildlife, outdoor entertainment, etc.
People who want something to do can help maintain these areas with the help of technology very part time.
Along with the normal benefits that has on a population, it could help offer something to fill the empty space some people will experience without having jobs.
Thanks for sharing, but you guys should be quicker on draw. Someone else uploaded (albeit in much lower quality) this conversation many days ago.

Andreeson is not an expert in anything that he is talking about. He’s a very wealthy investor whose interests are far from aligned with the rest of society. What is “good” for him is almost certainly bad for the rest of us. Show me some serious work and commitment to the problem of AI alignment, and then I’ll listen.
What does A.I alignment mean
Yeah! The confidence with which he speaks about things he doesn't understand is amazing.
Since being a non expert would make him often wrong name all the predictions he made that seem incorrect, assuming you yourself a well read expert.
Aligning AI with humanity is putting the cart before the horse. We need to first align humanity with humanity.

"Giant Laser"
The guy is a tech investor. Of course he is going to say big tech won't do AI well.
You know you know
There should be much more investments in AI safety and much more effort put into AI safety regulations. Remember, when this goes very wrong there likely won't be a second chance for us.
Very important warnings by two godfathers of AI, Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio, and many other leading AI technicians, about a very real, possible AI existential threat! Like by creating subgoals when AIs are enabled to act autonomously, and one of those subgoals would be to get more control. When they'll surpass us in general intelligence, which we won't necessarily notice, we won't be able to keep up with them and imagine what they're planning or strategizing. Surely these people are ultimate generative AI technical experts and truly know what they're talking about. As a layperson I choose to trust their information and warnings before anyone else.
