I spent the entire day yesterday in training mode and playing ranked matches and I gotta say, Lars feels damn near as good as he was on Tekken 6 and Tekken Tag 2....like... There's an OBVIOUS difference compared to the Tekken 7 version of him
He does feel better but no where near T6 , lets stay realistic

You can cancel entering to DEN after the heat smash by clicking back!
So that opens a lot of possibilities for pressuring the opponent 👌

Not gonna lie I’m really struggling to get used to this version of Lars. He was my main in T7 I got him to Raijin. But in T8 everything is so different I can’t play him well at all. I’ve had better luck switching to Reina but now I’m finding it hard to break into Red ranks. Your guides will help me renew my passion for Lars! Lol

Hell yea man learned a lot, I'm glad they gave him more plus frames to work with and the new stance to condition for 50 50s with. Also being able to flow more with him stance switching back and fourth and from other attacks he just feels a lot more fun to play overall. Thanks for all the new knowledge man 🙏🏼
Just picked up tekken 8 and never really played any other tekken seriously. Coming from Street Fighter Lars is definitely the coolest character in the game to me. Extremely helpful guide man looking forward to more of your videos! I want to get better

Great in-depth look into the different scenarios and matchups. I'm loving his new hell-sweep mix-up. I think he can be played in a few different ways but will excel more as a rush down character now with a faster playstyle being on the front foot. Cheers mate

Yo, first of all, this is a great guide! You covered a LOT of things that I missed when I labbed Lars.
I also want to add some things that might be helpful:
-Counter hit stomp into SEN (DEN 3+4,F) guarantees SEN 1 (opponent -12). You can bait the CH with f,F+4,2, etc.
-FC df+2 after 2,1 > LEN hits will beat every retaliation into CH launch (yes, even jabs). You have to input it as soon as Lars shifts from LEN to full crouch. Even if you're early, you'll get LEN 2, which is safe. If you're a tad bit late, it'll trade with jabs, but you'll still get the CH launch. This setup works especially well if your opponent likes to check you with jabs/df+1 each time you get into stance.

I have my 2+3 set to L2 for my button mapping. He grabs automatically when in dynamic entry. Dash cancel is just F3 up F3 up do it slow then get faster
Been a Lars main since T6 / TTT2 but didn’t play him much since T7 initial release so Using him again in T8 was definitely Jarring at first was overwhelmed with how much tools he has but it was refreshing because I main stance heavy characters such as Eddy so it feels right at home . Hoping my boy Eddy gets the same treatment Lars got here In T8 since they both got messed up in T7

Hi Niko, thanks for vid. I got a couple of questions. How do you hit confirm df2, so you know whether to cancel stance or not.
Secondly, when using df3 DE2 as combo filler, sometimes it drops. Is there a way to get it consistent?
df2 is not hit confirmable. df2 is used for a quick mid poke its up to you as the lars player if you want to go into stance or not.
as for df3 DEN2 not sure what you mean for combo filler look up some combo guides and go from there

What do you mean ws3 is +4 on block when you go into stance. Its neutral if you don't. Also, I appreciate that man 👍
I was watching replays today and I found a move I didn’t know about for punishing launchers at 14f (Blue bolt). But I’m terrible at moves that require you to go back to neutral for a second. Ima get this down tho because you can pick up with F3,2 and get good dmg off it.
not sure why they nerfed db 1,3 imo - specially if you are giving extensions off of it and it was just +1 on hit to start with

Quick question with flash bullet into sen are you able to retreat back into den if they try and jab punish u? Since it’s only -3 on block.
It can kind of work if your opponent doesn't react to fast enough but however it's unreliable I wouldn't count on it working all the time

You mentioned not to go on stance block but all the one hit stances don’t seem hit confirm able to me can you give any tips
You CAN go into stance on block. All I mean is, don't be surprised if you get disrespected. You are taking some level of risk when you do that. There's no hit confirm to his stances bro you just react to something when you see it. It's a skill you're gonna have to develop or know how to block punish.
Can you go over what you like to do when you activate heat dash
Low options: ff4,2 or ff4,3 db1,3 or db1
Mid options: b1, d2, b4, b2,3 or df3,3, df1 or df2

How do you do/time that dynamic entry dash cancel, it works very inconsistently for me
F3 UP do it slow at first and you'll be able to go faster with time

Is 1,23 a canned in mix that allows to go into stance or get kicked by the 3?
I'm assuming your asking if F123 is a solid way to go into stance. If that's what you mean, then no.. that's one of the worst things you can do
@@NikosWorld123 but isn’t F 123 safe on block. And there is a gap between the 2 and 3 to catch a mash if they think your going into stance. And if you have them conditioned you can go into stance for the low

F12 into stance is not a bad idea as long as you have your opponent conditioned but it's sometimes safer just to do F12 hold back. See how your opponent reacts to that first then go from there
Also F123 is not safe on block the 3 is -12

Which tier Lars is?
He's looks interesting for me, but I don't sure he is better then Lee/Dragunov.
Cuz main gameplan - pokes with special stance and one time use heat for good mix-ups.

Tier list shouldn't matter when deciding to play a character, but Lars is solid choice I'll say that
@NikosWorld123 Yeah "rule of cool" is number 1 agreed, BUT I like Lee/Lars/Dragunov and can't pick one of them for my main. So I'm starting look at power and weakness.
Lee - frame game, punish if u try to hit him after block. Hard looping?
Dragunov - solid dmg, cancel mixup. Will be boring?
Lars - m=movement, cool tricks with stances, interesting. Truly power in one-two combos with heat and main plan - pokes and wiff pinish after that?

@catyara Lee- (not beginner friendly) requires HEAVY execution good knowledge of opponents frames and utilization of keep out tool. Timing and spacing
Dragunov- (beginner friendly) d2 and while running 2 very straightforward gameplan, imo boring 😴 very strong well rounded pretty much has everything
Lars- (beginner friendly) flashy can be risky to play. Tricky. Fast.
You decide who like tho bro just pick one and focuse on that guy

Unfortunately, he's still a high risk low reward character. If they want his stances to be usable, they need to give transitions plus frames on hit or something.. some REAL mixups. If not, just remove them all together and make him a rushdown character as he is meant to be.
Yea the framework is still there but he is stronger overall but you just gotta make it work and bro.... his stances are plus on hit. What do you mean
@@NikosWorld123 what I mean is that only the attacks that come out after stances should be punishable/interruptible, not the attacks that transition into them. For example, WS+2, F shouldn't be interruptible, you should be able to always do a follow up attack. And yeah, he's certainly stronger, but it's still not enough 😢
