I added perlite to my fluval….kinda feel like it’s a thick substrate so that’s why I decided to mix in the perlite. I still haven’t gotten up the nerve to put my El Choco into fluval….still trying to get my bearings with fluval. I only have a handful of plants currently in fluval. Yours is looking so handsome! I think I’m going to use a plank, I am terrible about keeping moss moist.
I would add perlite but I feel like it’s going to be a pain in the ass down the road lol honestly so shocked my el chocccy did this good in fluval, you could always just propagate a piece of it to see how it does for you in fluval 🤗🌱
I started one of my cebu blue on a wooden plank. (Because moss poles are horrible in Az.) My other blue is freestyling. Might try the plastic pole as you have shown. Thanks for the info video.
It really depends on the plant, root system and what kind of pot it’s in (like all plants haha). But most of mine are in plastic, so I’d say they hold water a little longer. I probably water once a week, making sure the entire substrate is wet. Maybe a little reservoir but not too much.

Your El Choco Red got all my attention 💚 This is my focus plant on a moss pole with Micans to fill and or cover the pole. 🪴Happy Planting🌿

I’ve seen Cebu blue staked up before with fenestrations. Super cool! I might have to try that style 🌱 thanks for commenting ☺️
