I’ve heard reefer hours can be rough! Mostly heard good things about Tyson, though. If you’re thinking about flatbed, would you consider running live chickens for Tyson? I’ve heard some of those drivers make $80-100k
@@FreightHauler87 you did nights for years, I don't think you would have the slightest problem running reefer . I'm not saying to get into reefer from hazmat tanker though
I've been thinking about applying to KAG! Just got my Hazmat and Twic card. I've been driving van my whole driving career definitely want to do something different now! It's been 5 years in van...
I know the feeling! I’m glad I made the switch. I think you’ll enjoy it. Hardly ever have to wait, no docks/union dock workers, just drive and spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours at a customer unloading (unless something goes wrong, then you’ll get detention pay). I usually deliver to 2 customers per week, sometimes 3 - depends on the miles
The few places that were hiring required tanker experience, and I had none. So I got on with KAG, and they’ve trained me. I’m not sure about the fuel hauling, but I know it’s usually local. That would be the best thing about it. More hoses to hook up than what I do now, but home daily. Overall, I think it would be good. Most fuel hauling around Little Rock pays $85k+, I believe CAP (Malvern/Benton area) pays $120k. Loves and Pilot hire quite a bit. You know that’s a six-figure career. Texas Trans Eastern was offering $85k not long ago.
I have a couple of questions! What weight are your loads usually? And I've heard driven hazmat you always have to go in the scale is that true? Also does KAG have automatics or just manuals?
KAG is mainly an automatic fleet. It’s a rarity to have a manual transmission, unless your terminal is different from mine. I’ve been pulling weights ranging from 72k up to 80k. You only have to enter the scale if they call you in, except Arizona and Arkansas, or if the scale has a sign telling hazmat loads to enter.
@@FreightHauler87 wow I'm so used to the company that I'm at now having cameras in their truck that would be nice to go to another company that doesn't! What is the top speed they have their trucks governed at? Is the specialty product side more regional or OTR? Like how long do you usually stay out? And is there any split seating or do you get your own truck from the start of your employment?
@@uriahhudson7117 Trucks are governed at 68. SPG is more regional and I’m home 3-4 days per week, it is possible to be home more (depends on how far you live from the terminal). No slip-seating. You will get an assigned truck as soon as you’re done training. The longest single out-and-back run I’ve had was nearly 2,200 miles, and I ran another 1,188-mile run that week. With a 3,388-mile week, I started Sunday, got home Tuesday, left Wednesday, made it back Saturday. If I had run 2,500 miles that week, I’m sure the home time would have been more.
What I know so far: Company matches 50 cents on the dollar, up to 6%. You invest 6%, company gives 3%. You can invest in the stock market with it, conservative investments or not. I should be receiving a packet about this soon. I asked the manager, he told me I’m eligible after 90 days, and that a packet would be in the mail. Should be here within the next couple weeks and I’ll share that info.

Whats the cpm pay? What ups money no way seriously. What have your checks looked like take home? Are the customers easy to find? Because tankers man i see them drive down dirt roads and shit like hell nah lol..
The customers have been easy to find, and I haven’t driven down any dirt roads so far. Cpm will vary from one terminal to the next. Some terminals pay .65, and some pay .80… of course, you’ll be paid detention for anything over 2 hours, $25 for every drop and every hook ($50/load), and $100 if you’re scheduled on a load that cancels/ or if that load isn’t ready to pick up when it’s suppose to be picked up. There’s other variables with the pay, but that’s mostly what you’ll see at first.

I hauled fuel with KAG, it was tough AF, I went to Estes to check it out, I sensed a bunch of egos at the terminal, now I'm looking at KAG again.
I’m at Schneider in the Tanker division and I do all the unloads. I’m on the Ecolab acocunt
I see a few Schneider from time to time in passing. How do you like Ecolab?
Pretty good stuff there. Similar to Tyson’s benefits. Definitely considering tanker or flatbed more and more. Had a rough day in reefer today
