I could see this used in a cool song. A bit of spaced out guitar (a few boss pedals can give you cool sounds or VST's with chorus and delay etc...) then you can add drums slowly as you get into the song. Maybe an intro and outro to a song? Many possibilities. As he was playing I was imagining some chords to go with it.

So many places to go with these types of designs and all mechanical sounds. It looks simple but there is a lot of software that go with the box that took a lot of talent and trial and error, or exploring. The feedback loop must have taken awhile to get to the right spot. Nice piece of work. Artistic and ingenious. Two words that don’t go together too often. It works here.

To address your comment about the rhythm, I wouldn’t even complain too much about that (even as someone who’s pretty anal about those things). A tiny bit of chaos often adds some magic to a primal, abstract production Like this. Absolutely loved it. You make me wanna build something like this. Question, what was your thought process for placing the piezo elements? Where did you put them in the box?
I have a whole rabbit hole for you already. th-cam.com/video/9PxIAmjBwNQ/w-d-xo.html pick up placement was chosen to enhance the little instruments on the box. So the "harp", then corner near the music box and door stopper, and one on the wall to the left on the "guitar"
Sometimes the very organic nature of such instruments make them sound significantly better than synthesised instruments. This is groovy in the extreme.
