Notes on the sentences and methodology:
    • I opted to use the penal code of the state of New York as the basis for determining the prison sentences. What you see in the video is the maximum amount of imprisonment time people may get for these crimes in New York. In a perfect world, I would also add the minimum sentence so there'd be less ambiguity, but some crimes don't have a specified minimum and so the court may decide whatever it decides, and there are so many variables. To put this into perspective, Maui could face in theory as little as 8-10 years, and as much as 60. This is such a huge range that I'm not sure if the viewers get something out of this (entertainment value-wise).
    • A few of the sentences for charges are based on other sources because obviously NY's code doesn't encompass every possible thing. For example, Mulan's fraudulent enlistment is a military matter, which has different a code. Another specific one is Aladdin lying about being a prince and his origins, so the sentence I used for that one is based on Title 18 U.S. Code § 915, which is about pretending to be foreign diplomats or officials (which has an imprisonment time of up to 10 years).
    • Felonies and misdemeanors often carry with them fines. At first I thought I'd include the fines too, but honestly, it didn't turn out to be such interesting numbers because in most cases, fines for felonies in NY are maxed at $5000 (and $1000 for misdemeanors). I'll later probably do another community post and write the max fines for the characters just if anyone's curious.
There's a longer version of this post in my channel's community tab, so you can go read it if you're curious just how pedantic my mind is lol

Well, I know you've already done the sentences for these heroes but I think you should've put a major total on the crimes of these cases and what sentences these people would get. I already did your last video 3 days ago and now it's time for me to finish off creating a total of sentences these heroes should be getting: For Mulan and Anna, I would give the 2 of them probation with Mulan getting 5 years & Anna getting 1 year.

To be fair to Eugene, in cases 2-5 of his "assaulting an officer" charges, said officers looked like they were trying to kill him. He was acting in self-defense. So really, he should be let off on those, or at the very least given a lighter sentence. And _they_ should be charged with police brutality.

And looking up Moana’s skirt without her consent which is why he doesn’t have a significant other! Moana is a mixed bag. It’s a lot of fun, but with the strong exception of Moana, her family, Tamatoa, the Kakamora (especially because one of them even had a Baymax mask) and Te Fiti, it has characters that are too out of character for this to be one of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ strongest films (Maui, Moana’s animal sidekicks (while none of them were really assholes, I find it weird how Hei-Hei would force himself into the story when Pua didn’t contribute to anything which is highly disappointing for a Disney sidekick), Maui’s parents and even (at one point) the ocean when it decided to take a *180 by dumping Moana onto an island where Maui would constantly bully Moana throughout the second and third acts of the movie).

technically no war crime (genocide/mass murder) was committed as she killed the Huns in service of her country within the confines of military service, but her fraudulent enlistment may render those stipulations null and void. Not that the Chinese government (in Mulan) would prosecute her for taking out the Huns in such a massive way - they'd probably just take credit for it, prosecute for the fraudulent enlistment only and call it a day.

      I disagree on both counts.
Elsa (probably) caused damage both to Arendelle and to the property the visitors who came for the coronation. Elsa paying damages is both for restoring her kingdom and to show outsiders that they can still be good business partners, so it'd actually be good for the economy.
Hercules is super mega rich after he becomes famous. He has a huge house, merchandize, and in Zero to Hero we see that even his parents have an enormous house, so his finances are likely safe even after paying for the damages. 1.) Anna probably has the right to punch Hans not only cause she was a rightful ruler of Arandelle, but also Hans did have two cases of attempted regicide.
2.) To be fair, Mother Gothel did give Rapunzel a wrong impression of some of humanity for 18 years, so that would probably be on Gothel's part.
3.) How does one decide if a grand larceny is first degree or fourth degree? Cause it sounds like fourth degree is more serious than first degree (I could be wrong, that's just what it sounds like). If it is what I'm thinking, shouldn't Moana's boat and the literal Heart of Te Fiti swap places?

regarding grand larceny, it's the other way around. first degree in crime is the more severe kind. Then second, third, etc.
So in this particular case, according to the New York penal code (which is what I based most of the sentences for the sake of consistency), grand larceny in the 4th degree is when a person steals something that exceeds $1,000 (with a max imprisonment of 4 years). 1st degree larceny is when a person steals something that exceeds $1,000,000 (with a max imprisonment of 25 years)

I have a few objections, Your Honor.
I’m unsure if Quasimodo can be convicted of hiding fugitives. In both cases, the arrest of said fugitive could be considered wrongful. We should also factor in that they were in the Quasimodo’s bell tower (I think, haven’t seen the movie in a while), and we’d have to consider whether it is subject to Church Sanctuary.
Additional, while I do not argue that Fa Mulan committed these crimes (if this were real, she’d definitely plead guilty), she has been officially pardoned by the Emperor.

    • @condedooku9750
      @condedooku9750 ปีที่แล้ว

      Objection accepted
On the basis that the reason for the arrest of the two fugitives that the defendant Quashimodo helped were illegal, it will be considered legal that he helped them. In turn, due to the extension of the sanctuary established by the church, that official should not have been there and therefore the hunchbacked defendant was only legally defending the sanctuary.
Therefore I declare him not guilty.
On the other hand, with the case of the defendant Mulan, since the Emperor of China himself pardoned her for her criminal act, she cannot be convicted of her crime.
      So the trial is over.

New Yorkers kinda get away easy when it comes to a littering fee. Here in Cali, if you're caught littering, you have to pay $250, endure eight hours of community service, or spend thirty days in prison at its best, a grand, 40 hours of community service, or six months in prison at its worst. In fact, if you go out driving, you could see road signs that say that if you are littering, it's a $1000 fee or six months in jail.

Quasimodo's alleged crimes are unfounded and without merit. Esmerelda claimed sanctuary within the church to resist unlawful arrest. He's not shielding a fugitive from the law, he's sheltering someone who, as we later find out, would have become a forced bride or been burnt to death for refusal, neither of which are legitimate outcomes of an arrest. The second one with Phoebus was the same: he was sheltering a man (most unwillingly) who was escaping unlawful arrest after refusing an unlawful order. Even Military code points out that subordination cannot exist if an order is unlawfully given, and a soldier may refuse to follow unlawful orders. As to the property damage, a building that size requires constant repair, which is why Quasimodo had access to the molten metal at the end: he would have used it to repair the bells. Given the age of the building, even at that time, a roofing piece that could be dislodged by standing on it for a few moments would be on the building owner for poor maintanace, not the person who stood upon it. Therefore, Quasimodo should be cleared of all accusation.
ETA: Regarding the allegation of assault on an officer, he was doing his duty to his employer to enforce the sanctuary provision, and the "officer" knew he would be in trespass to enter. Therefore no crime was committed trying to remove the trespasser from the property that he knew he was trespassing upon.
