if you watched this everyday you'd have a better life.
Enjoy the Beef, but that band behind him ... smmmmmmmmmmmmmokin! Also note the influence on coming bands: Television, Violent Femmes, B52s, Talking Heads, Primus, etc. Ahead of their time.
They didn't make music back then like this either. Beefheart was in a dimension of his own creation.
Being a pirate myself I must say I would let this man be captain of any ship I sailed in with his crazed crew cranking chaos by my side. AWESOME!
Coming after all those years of struggle, a performance of this caliber must have been gratifying. I find this performance profoundly encouraging.
how am i just now discovering this guy? this stuff is so brilliant, original, and prog. wow, way ahead of his time.
Captain Beefheart - "Chorus", Paris 1980 !!!
I love his music !!!! ♫♪♫#♪♫
On a parallel world, This version of Captain Beefheart and The Minutemen go on tour, and I get to see them both, together. I am so happy.
Seen this in the Netherlands in 1980. The music grows on you and gets better and better.
Some of the best footage ever of Beefheart - great sound quality, with this line-up of the 'Magic Band working their collective socks off.
What a great bit of footage...we are lucky to have this for viewing pleasure.
Quel souvenir !! J'avais 17 ans, et j'etais à ce concert !!! une veritable revelation pour moi !!

Exactly like the album,in sound and musicianship.
Such a clear idea of what he wanted.
Look at that look in his eyes,Visionary.

o god this is glorious. Thanks muchos for putting it up
Incredible slide guitar ... and that is just one of the good things about this video.
ah « Chorus »..
Saw this tour at the Glasgow Apollo. Fantastic.
sensational now as it was then - a fascinating and unsettling composer
thanks for this upload and French tv.
I think Tom Waits got a lot of inspiration for his last few albums from this band.
really just discovering the Captain, after having his incredible 'Ice Cream for Crow' video clip from the 80's.thought he was a brilliant oddity then,But he,and his band are mindblowingly good and tragically unappreciated.
THIS is music. Thanks so much for posting.
Was I the only one who thought it was hilarious this time when he sang "I may be hungry, but I sure ain't weirrrrd"? xD this is great!
That energy!!

Since Don and Magic Band fell off the Human Totem-pole,the world don't smell too good.
Moustache and hat makes him look so much older. But we shouldn´t forget about his illness and retirement in 1982, so he might have been sick by then too
le capitain beefheart! love it.
I went to one of his shows in the following year in london and it was MUCH better than this because the music, in the flesh was SO HEAVY AND POWERFUL AND THICK AND LOUD !!! , and great !
great post, thanks!
Aye, Aye Captain!
Because he had a 'beef; in his "heart' toward what's fucked up about this world.
