No shit, I would've LOVED to see this iteration of TMB (and the post TMR/Decals line-up), they are absolutely fire. Apparently the famed rock writer Lester Bngs asked Gary Lucas (about Flavour Bud Living) "Gary, is that you playing the top or bottom part?". To which he replied: "no Lester it's all me, performed live". Lucas said it's the highest compliment he ever received as a guitarist. Fancy starting out as CBATMB's manager and then pulling THAT (and the Ice Cream material) out of his instrument...talk about hiding your light under a bushel!
I was late to the party with Captain Beefheart. Oh, I’d heard “Willie the Pimp” on “Hot Rats” (Zappa), but had never delved into anything else. On summer break in college, stuck in Janesville, Wisconsin where I didn’t know a soul, I got “Shiny Beast” and “Doc at the Radar Station” from the public library. More than once as I listened to those albums, I found myself laughing out loud. (“Tropical Hot Dog Night” was one that got me going.) In the subsequent years, I’ve gone back and listened to his earlier stuff. I don’t love all of it, but at his best, when the planets are properly aligned, he’s a force of nature.

Bulbous Goodbye
Truly one of a kind. I first heard Safe as Milk in 1967. He was slightly unhinged, but hinged enough to produce words and music with insight and originality that are unlikely to be copied. He has his very own niche in modern music and not that many can say that.
How fuckin amazing is this , Robert Williams is legendary, the whole set is beautiful. Sorry i am gonna have to clean myself up now!
Best Batch Yet is totally insane
I saw this band in 1980 at the Public Theater in NYC. James Blood Ulmer opened. One of the best concerts I've ever witnessed.
