Douro Valley is known as the best wine region of Portugal as well as one of the most beautiful areas of this country. For those reasons we obviously had to visit.
And even though the weather was not on our side by any means it was easy to tell what all the fuzz was about.
Douro Valley is marvellous, raw, dreamy and a haven for wine and the good life lovers.
Douro Valley has A LOT to offer so with only two days on our hands it's hard to know where to start. However there were two places we wanted to go.
Six Senses and Quinta da Pacheca. We did not regret it.

Pls Jon...it is not 'Duro' it is Douro ...-ou- sound in Portuguese is like: Ouuuuhhhhh...the way u say it means 'Hard' =Duro vs. 'Golden or made of gold' = Douro.
@@Alfablue227 if it is to explain, at least try to do it well, since when "Douro" means Golden.
The origin of the word "Douro" is not yet certain, but "Douro" is not the same as "De Ouro" or "D'Ouro" so has nothing to do with golden. Just a short explanation to clean this misinterpretation.

Guys, don't go to Douro during winter... try at maximum October. You will get golden red views of the vineyards and even the chance to see a real harvest! Another tip: the best scenario starts in Peso da Régua and goes up until Pinhão (or even further). Promise you won't regret. Just take a sunny day :D. Maybe next time you can do the cruise during spring or summer time. Love your videos! Be very welcome to Portugal!
I have a suggestion for you, (it envolves wine of course), you should visit Azeitão, it's about 30 km from Lisboa and they have Tortas de Azeitão (delicious pastry) and Moscatel wine (produced in that area) ... But take care, Moscatel gives a terrible hangover... (I heard say)...😏🤫

We will be going back as soon as it makes sense :)! At this point though, we don't really need any sponsors and we love the freedom that comes with not having to say nice things about places we aren't 100% in love with. So when we are going to do a collaboration it will have to make 100% sense. Hopefully when we get a little bigger we can make collaborations with Six Senses and similar :-)

The Douro has the best wine in the world that is Port wine, but it is not the best region of table wines. The best region for table wines is the Alentejo.
The Douro has a unique landscape with vineyards for Port wine.
Happily, we can drink some wine even it'raining.:)
When it comes to drinking wine the weather is ALWAYS perfect! :D

Thanks, Kevin! It’s a combination. The more planning that goes into it the better, but planning is hard when your vlog is 90% running and gunning. Most often thr creativity is added in thr editing process. 😊

Douro is amazing, we caught some "time off" of our vacation in Lamego! Pacheca was amazing, we actually had the gentleman serving you wine as our french tour guide and he was just so passionate and knew so much! It is a very beautiful vineyard!

Love your vlogs! You two keep us laughing! We were in Lisbon in '17 and have planned a 9 day an excursion in Northern Portugual this year. We begin with 3 days in Porto and are working our way down to Obidos,,Nazare, Coimbria etc. Unfortunately we don't have enough time for Douro Valley 😢🍷. Hello. First of all i hope sincerely that your father recuperate fast as possible. Yes that´s truth our tourism and hotels and even the wine they gave a huge jump last decade. Well I expect the tourists can appear in Douro season and don´t go away as you shows us. But let me give you a tip: search for "Solares de Portugal" and you find a new kind of turism wich join the old Portugal with de modernity sophistication. There the taste is really portuguese. Now a good news for you: the rainy days end this week and the sun come back shining as usually not many times in north of the country mainly in the winter but that is another story. Please keep going like this i like very much to see you explore the best of Portugal. Até logo.

My recommendation in Porto is : visit Jardim do Morro in Vila Nova de Gaia and after the sunset have a dinner in Bistrô Bom Gosto, the same side of the river. They have a fantastic food.

Its forbidden to use electronic equipments/smoking while putting diesel, gas, whatever. It's usually all over the place in signs. It's the law.
Some later check ins will allow you to avoid leaving in hours of extra traffic, sometimes another hour of sleep before a long drive. Most people even stop along the way for late breakfast or lunch, to try local cuisine.

Next time you go to the Douro valley, try and do the ride along the N222 between Peso da Régua and Pinhão, and then from Pinhão to Vila Nova de Foz Côa. It will offer you some of the best landscapes Portugal has ;-)
Go to the birthplace of Portugal, called Guimarães :) I can assure you that you will not regret ;)
